Prince was seized with a religious fervor recently at the after hours club Xenii. It’s already been established that Prince doesn’t want the DJ to play hip hop songs with obscene lyrics and the club indulges him. On this night he started lecturing the girls doing go-go dancing in scanty outfits. The half dozen pretty girls gyrate sexily on pedestals throughout the club. He told them “It’s WRONG to dance like that. You’re too good for this!” What would your parents think? You shouldn’t be selling yourself so cheap.”
The girls protested “We need the money we earn here!” Prince asked them how much they were paid per night and offered to give them TWICE as much to STOP dancing and go home! The dancers were surprised but realistic – “And what would we do next week? We LIKE working here and we LOVE to dance! We’re happy!” Finally Prince gave up and went back to his table for another drink of water. No conversions that night.

HAS GEORGE MICHAEL LOST HIS LOOKS?

It’s been fifteen years since his LAST world tour and we’re wondering if George Michael, 43, is up to the world tour he’s starting this fall. Maybe that’s why he’s smoking so much pot. He created a big stir in the UK when he was found passed out in his car sitting in the middle of an intersection near his house. Marijuana was found in the car and it’s believed to be involved in all four of his recent auto skirmishes. Safe driving advocates in England are furious because he continues to drive under the influence and gets away with mere warnings. Whatever he’s doing, it’s NOT improving his appearance.

SEQUINS AND BUGLE BEADS

The Cher auction is all anyone in LA is talking about these days. Friday through Monday all her dark gothic furniture, art, costumes, and memorabilia are on display at the Beverly Hilton Hotel and admission is FREE ! Curators told us the Bob Mackie costumes were stimulating the most interest. He had been storing them all through the years for Cher. Everything from her Laverne leopard TV outfit to the skimpy black sequin g-string she wore in the navy boat video, plus assorted sequin belly button covers from the early years were on display. Most surprising was the level of misbehavior of fans and looky-loos. The curators were afflutter trying to stop teenagers from jumping on Cher’s bed, families lounging on velvet couches, men from putting their feet up on her desk, and EVERYONE from fingering her costumes and trying to see if they’d fit. A giddy man was caught moving a form so he could stand behind it and his friend could take a picture with his head on top of a dress. Not a lot of respect – but tons of fun.

Bad Neighbor

It’s Sting’s birthday today, but you can bet he still won’t invite Diana Ross to any parties. She upset her Malibu Colony neighbors when she got the gate guard fired because the guy was a big fan and had the nerve to ask her for an autograph. The neighbors, including Heather Locklear, Pam Anderson, Mel Gibson, and Sting, were not happy because they really liked the fellow, who had worked there a long time. Miss Ross is not particularly sociable with the people living near her and keeps to herself. Sting was especially outraged and he worked to get the guard rehired.
