DAVID BECKHAM TURNED THE LA GALAXY PLAYERS INTO ROCKSTARS

David Beckham and the LA Galaxy team arrived at the New Zealand airport and 500 natives showed up to greet them. (The LA Galaxy players aren’t used to this kind of attention – they must be FLOORED by all the attention David brings them.) David received the official Maori greeting – pressing noses.

“Natives”? – ugh, that’s offensive. I live in NZ and can tell you the 500 or so people who showed up were dressed in Western clothing and indistinguishable from any US citizen.

Forget everything about Becks but this: How in heaven or hell is he worth all those multi-multi millions? Soccer, phooey. Football bowl games, basketball finals…no one ever thinks of soccer. The Beckhams and their extreme riches defy logic.

Perplexed have you ever been outside of the United States? Soccer (football to everyone else) is the most popular sport in the world and Becks it’s most popular representative. As for his millions, he sell more tickets, jerseys, Armani underwear, etc. than anyone on the planet. He’s always on the list of the top people surfed for out on the internet. That sells a lot of advertising. It doesn’t hurt that he’s about as fine an example of man as you are ever likely to see on or off the pitch.

Liz, I stand corrected. U R right. Have been to London, Paris, HongKong, Tokyo, Macau, Santiago, Mexico City (but that’s beside the point). I guess I just spouted off ’cause I and my friends don’t care for it. My Bad for saying this. Becks and soccer are, in fact, BIG.

Perplexed that’s cool. I’ve just had to spend way too much time dealing with people who think the sports world end at our borders.

Yeah, soccer players are rock stars … in New Zealand. Here in the U.S., however, it’s David who? Oh, yeah, Mr. Posh Spice.
Maybe if he could actually stay on the field … excuse me, pitch … for a whole week he’d be more impressive. Guess he has a lot of time to bend it, eh, Beckham? Oh, while you’re up, change the channel to football … REAL football. The Patriots are winning again!
