Behold the latest Edwin Jeans ad featuring Brad Pitt. (on the left) Brad, 44, has been doing these ads for the Japanese jean company for over ten years and he’s made millions of dollars. It’s an easy gig, and so lucrative he can’t stop. And it’s a testament to his popularity that he’s probably the oldest American celebrity doing ads in Japan – they usually favor young stars. There has been some discussion about the new ad being doctored up. Some say his hips have been narrowed, others say the jeans seem too high. What do you think?

It’s a constructed image. I thought that was just a style decision by the graphic designers. I don’t think it’s supposed to look quite like it is one natural image; it’s too off to fool most as that. The head is definitely of a different scale, and maybe angle, than the legs. Not a bad image, a little unsettling, and maybe designed to make you wonder what they did.

I think it’s just the light playing a trick on your eyes. Most of his tighs are in the dark so the waist seems too high and tighs too narrow.
