MARY TRAVERS: DON’T THINK TWICE, IT’S ALL RIGHT

Back in the 1960’s, everyone wanted to look like Mary Travers from the group Peter, Paul, and Mary. Girls everywhere started ironing their hair and cut long bangs. Her hippie-folk look was a major fashion influence in the pre-MTV crowd. In the late 60’s, Peter, Paul, and Mary put on a free concert on the beach in Fort Lauderdale, Florida during spring break. They drew ecstatic crowds on that warm night. A friend of ours who resembled and worshiped Mary, managed to sneak into her dressing room and steal the biggest trophy of all – HER HAIR BRUSH. She treasured her prize for years. Mary died this week from leukemia at 72.

   wasn’t the muppet “Janice” based on Mary? she sure looks like her. I loved this group and am sad to her go.

   Love Mary Travers look and voice! I grew up listening to them. So sad she’s gone. Condolences to her family and friends.
