This illustrates the difference between European movie stars and American stars. Oscar winning “La Vie en rose” actress Marion Cotillard, who’s currently starring in “Nine,” arrived at the Paris airport with no fanfare. Not only did she fly alone, without an entourage, but she piled up and schlepped her own luggage. To top it off, she was picked up at the airport by a friend, NOT a limo!

It happened in 2000: One of Whitney Houston’s alltime favorite movies has always been the tearjerker “Love Story.” She’s hoping to update and remake the move starring herself and her husband Bobby Brown as the doomed couple originally played by Ali MacGraw and Ryan O’Neal. Whitney realizes audiences might have a hard time swallowing Bobby as the wealthy and refined young man so she plans to switch the roles and have the female character from the right side of the tracks. She’s already working on a script and hopes to start filming before the end of the year. (As we all know, it didn’t work out….)

I love her totally mismatched, nondescript luggage. No monogrammed Louis Vuitton is needed to evoke “class” for this gal. She has it in spades!

I don’t know — I can understand skipping the entourange, and the fancy luggage (it just gets stolen!) but the limo — or at least a town car — I would have that. Believe me, that’s a decent perk. Better than making a friend haul your to and from the airport!
