THE SURGICAL EVOLUTION OF WAYNE NEWTON

In the course of reading about Las Vegas entertainer Wayne Newton and his bankruptcy and eviction problems, we were shocked to see a recent photo of the Danke Schoen singer. If he’s not a poster child for too much male plastic surgery, we don’t know who IS. Back in the day, he competed with Elvis Presley to be top dog on Las Vegas. Which made us ponder- what if Elvis were still alive- would HE have been pushed into having extensive surgical enhancement and be as unrecognizable as Wayne Newton? Probably.

Charlize Theron New Couple Oscars Seth MacFarlane

It appears that Charlize Theron, 37, and Seth MacFarlane, 39, took a liking to each other while rehearsing for the Oscar show. He sang and she danced in the opening musical extravaganza. We’ve had several reports of them being engrossed in conversation with each other over the weekend and she was by his side at his post Oscar party. Both are single – Charlize split with Stuart Townsend last year after nine years together, and Seth dates, but considers himself a single guy. They look great together, and could become a real Hollywood power couple.

We’re betting her own family wasn’t invited to the small private wedding last year. If they had been, surely one of her brothers would have blabbed about the event to get himself on TV. Jennifer Aniston doesn’t have to worry about running into anybody she’d rather avoid when she eats at her favorite restaurant, The Tower Bar on Sunset Strip. Staffers at the restaurant like Jennifer so much they named a drink after her. Back when she was single she brought various guys there including John Mayer. Now that Jennifer frequents the place with her boyfriend Justin Theroux, there might be a few people she’d rather not run into, and she doesn’t. The restaurant host discreetly tips her off about who’s there before she arrives so she can adjust her plans accordingly.

"Dynasty" Fashion Jane Fonda Oscars

JANE FONDA LOOKED GLAM IN SPITE OF HER DYNASTY GOWN NOT BECAUSE OF IT

All this fuss over Jane Fonda! Granted, the actress is in formidable shape and looked great at the Oscars but her dress was another story. We love yellow, but this shade of day-glow yellow was painful to look at and the shoulderpads were SO eighties! Jane looked as if she raided Joan Collins’ dressing room on the set of “Dynasty.” We do love that she wolfed down an In-N-Out Burger on the street after the Oscar show.

IT’S TIME TO UPDATE THE OSCARS

No wonder The Oscars are losing more of their audience every year. A huge percentage of the three and a half hour show was made up of technical awards in which groups of unfamiliar men in tuxedos got up and thanked everyone in Hollywood who might give them their next job. It’s exhausting, self indulgent, and downright BORING. In other words, NOT entertaining. That’s why viewers drift. Seth MacFarlane was fine (and a surprisingly good singer,) the musical numbers were nice, but the rest of the show needs a major overhaul.

Fashion Glasses Oscars Renee Zellweger

RENEE ZELLWEGER HAD A BRIDGET JONES MOMENT ON THE OSCARS

There was considerable discussion about WHAT Renee Zellweger was ON that caused her to fidget onstage when she was lined up with several presenters on The Oscars. Twice she was handed THE ENVELOPE to announce the winner, and both times she looked stricken and awkwardly passed it on to another presenter. We think she simply refuses to wear reading glasses. She was able to read the prompter at a distance, but up close – NO WAY – so she handed the envelopes to someone who would read them right. She’s 43 now, and like Bridget Jones, maybe she doesn’t like to be reminded of it. Her gold dress DID look rather spectacular.

IS JERMAINE MORPHING INTO THE NEW MICHAEL JACKSON?

Jermaine Jacksun (yes, he changed the spelling of his name) seems to be trying to step into his brother Michael’s shoes now that he’s gone. Perhaps motivated by money problems (his book flopped and the brothers’ tour isn’t doing well) Jermaine has been wearing Michael’s trademark black jeans and military jackets – and even losing tons of weight to be slim like Michael. He’s DYING for attention. According to the NY Post, insiders are puzzled by this peculiar turn of events, and figure Jermaine’s huge debts and frustration at not getting a chunk of Michael’s 2 billion dollar estate has something to do with it.

Annie Best Actress Quvenzhane Wallis Willow Smith

OSCAR NOMINEE QUVENZHANE WALLIS IS ALREADY ON EASY STREET

Nine year old Best Actress nominee Quvenzhane Wallis (pronounced Kwe-VEN-zhah-nay) doesn’t need to win an Oscar – she already won the plum role of Annie in the modernized movie based on the Broadway musical. Will and Jada Smith are among the producers and their daughter Willow was eager to play the part, but the movie took a couple of years to develop and Willow simply got too tall. Besides the movie she was nominated for, “Beasts of the Southern Wild,” Quvenzhane has finished “Twelve Years a Slave” with Brad Pitt and Michael Fassbender. Something tells us she’ll be nipping at Willow’s heels for a long time to come.
