SOMETHING FOR THE DOG LOVERS AMONG YOU
We have a weakness for Wire Fox Terriers and when we heard that this little girl pictured above couldn’t find a home, we just had to adopt her from the American Terrier Rescue Association. (Our other dog looks a bit annoyed but he got over it.) These wonderful ATRA people rescue terriers that have been dumped by their owners – some are older, some have medical problems, but all are salvageable with a little effort and deserve to have nice lives. There’s nothing more fun than a terrier! We met an ATRA puppy called Belle that desperately needs surgery and we hope that you, dear readers, can find it in your heart to donate something. A DAY AT THE BEACH WITH THE ELTON JOHN FAMILY
On August 1, Elton John had an appendectomy just in the nick of time. He’s been recovering at his home in Nice for the past few weeks and finally felt well enough to spend a day at the beach in St Tropez with his husband David Furnish and their two boys. Their sons, Zachary, 2, and Elijah, 7 months, look more like Elton every day! We wonder how many assistants, nannies, and bodyguards it takes to accomplish a maneuver like this.

HOW FAR WILL KRIS JENNER GO TO SAVE HER TALK SHOW?

Kris Jenner is more desperate to save her talk show than we realized. She’s had just about every family member (except the one viewers want to see) on the show and called in all the favors owed her. We don’t know if we should blame her or her producers, but the segments are boring and trite- too much dieting and exercising, and no substance. (Do you really want to learn to belly dance?) It’s rumored that Kris is so frantic NOT to be canceled that she offered to work for HALF her salary! Is that enough? (Above, Diddy consoles her)
CALVIN KLEIN’S QUESTIONABLE CHOICES COME BACK TO HAUNT HIM
Our brilliant colleague, Gawker contributor Michael Musto, posted a hilarious -and revealing- interview with John Luciano, who dated Calvin Klein’s boyfriend Nick Gruber after they split up. It’s titled “Calvin Klein’s Boyfriend is Straight and the Worst Lover I Ever Had!” Click HERE to read the whole thing. What Calvin and Nick don’t know is that Luciano has created a mini-series about his brief romance with Nick for YouTube. When they were a couple, Gruber and Luciano worked on a proposed reality series and now John is editing The Nick Gruber Project for YouTube, debuting next week. EASY RIDER STEVE MARTIN STAYS IN TOUCH
He’s wearing the required helmet but Steve Martin might be breaking the law by talking on the phone while he’s riding his bike. The 68 year old “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles” star has taken up bike riding to stay in shape. In July he was riding in Pennsylvania and lost his wallet – a good citizen returned it. Martin’s wife give birth to his first child – a daughter – seven months ago. He has yet to announce her name and joked that he called her “Conquistador” on the Letterman show.

WENTWORTH MILLER CAME OUT AS A HERO
We’ve always had a crush on “Prison Break” star Wentworth Miller and it never mattered that he was gay. We’re not sure if it was common knowledge, but it wasn’t important. In 2007 we happened to bump into Wentworth at the Arclight Theater in Hollywood. We were giddy with excitement and remember that he looked very clean and smelled delicious. He was also very friendly and allowed Belissa Cohen to take the photo above. Six years later, the elegant and intelligent Wentworth picked the right time to come out – he was invited to appear at a Russian film festival and declined due to Russia’s anti-gay legislation.
Part of his letter was printed in The Advocate:
“As someone who has enjoyed visiting Russia in the past and can also claim a degree of Russian ancestry, it would make me happy to say yes,” Miller wrote in the letter, posted on GLAAD’s website. “However, as a gay man, I must decline.”
You’ve gotta love him.
LOOKS LIKE BRAD PITT IS SMARTER THAN TOM CRUISE
No surprise that Brad Pitt was once high on the list of “most wanted” recruits for Scientology. Back in the early 90’s he was dating Juliette Lewis, who was born into a Scientology family. Since all Scienos are expected to haul their loved ones into the cult, Juliette persuaded Brad to take a few courses. Brad, being the dutiful boyfriend, did dabble for awhile, but when he caught Juliette cheating and they split up, he quickly dropped out. Bono was also targeted by the cult. The socially responsible singer has a lot of influence on his fans around the world. Fortunately, he was turned off by auditing and drifted. David Miscavige’s niece Jenna who left the church, says celebrities are sought for their influence and ability to attract new members, not their money.
SELENA GOMEZ PAMPERS THOSE LEGS
Even 21 year old Selena Gomez can dance herself into a state of exhaustion. She‘s currently on her tour of North America and Europe and admits that the dancing part of her show is the most challenging. She posted a photo on Instagram of herself on her private plane after her Winnipeg, Canada, performance that shows how she recovers. She picked up some takeout from McDonald’s and leaned back in her seat with huge bags of ice on her aching knees. Selena remarked “Now, I hurt. Everywhere.”
LADY GAGA IS HALFWAY TO A HOUSEWIFE
Lady Gaga arrived in New York today with a whole new look. From the waist up she looks like an O.C. or Beverly Hills Housewife with her tan and long wavy blonde weave. She’s another person from the waist down – her stiff wide pants are so long they’re under her shoes. In fact, the trousers look like they would stand up by themselves if she took them off. She doesn’t disappoint her fans.
