“MAGIC IN THE MOONLIGHT” IS ONE OF WOODY’S BEST

Woody Allen fans are in for a gigantic treat. His next film, “Magic in the Moonlight “ – due to be released this month, is one of Woody’s greatest triumphs. It’s visually delectable and the French Riviera in the 1920’s has never been more appealing. Colin Firth plays a smart, sarcastic, and egotistical magician to perfection. Woody has written him some of the best dialog EVER and Colin is hilarious. The movie is WAY more fun than the trailer implies – it renews your faith in intelligent comedy.

Shane MacGowan The Pogues

SAY GOODBYE TO THE POGUES

For some reason we’ve always had a weakness for The Pogues, and Shane MacGowan in particular. There’s something so melancholy and romantic about those Irish punk tunes like Dirty Old Town. We saw his last performance in Los Angeles a few years ago and now he says he’s retiring. The Pogues performed at Hyde Park to a cheering UK crowd this week but Shane wants to give it up. His battles with the bottle are legendary, and he was described as “pasty, slurring, and holding onto the microphone for dear life” at the show this week. Shane says this will probably be the band’s last appearance – “I’m 56 now and I want to start working out in the gym every day.”

Al Roker Deborah Roberts

HERE’S WHAT’S HAPPENING IN AL ROKER’S NECK OF THE WOODS

This is a great New York couple – both Al Roker and his fetching wife, Deborah Roberts, are successful television journalists. Al is the beloved weather anchor on the Today show and you’ve seen Deborah many times on GMA and 20/20. They’ve been married for 19 years and have two children. Al says he gets along even better with his size 4 wife since he lost weight – now he can keep up with her in the gym. And they can enjoy shopping together in Soho (above) because Al doesn’t need a big man’s store.

Eva Mendes Expecting Pregnant Ryan Gosling

EVA MENDES IS EXPECTING RYAN GOSLING’S BABY – BUT ARE THEY STILL TOGETHER?

Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes take themselves very seriously and go out of their way to avoid the intrusive press. Consequently, unless a paparazzi photo pops up of the couple together – we don’t know their relationship status. It’s been many months since Eva and Ryan have been anywhere together. There were reports of problems between them when they were filming “Lost River “ last year, with Ryan directing. The movie, described as a nightmarish fantasy inspired by David Lynch, was screened at Cannes this year in May and got booed by the audience. Eva, who costarred with Christina Hendricks, was conspicuously ABSENT. Because she was pregnant or because she and Ryan were on the outs? The big question now is – will they raise this child together?
