IN DEFENSE OF JASON BIGGS

120017PCN_Orange05cut

All this fuss over Jason Biggs’ tweet! All Jason did was crack a mild joke after the second Malaysian airplane tragedy yesterday. He wisecracked “Anyone wanna buy my Malaysian Airlines frequent flier miles?” Irate readers scornfully tweeted that his remark was “too soon “ and “inappropriate.” It’s FUNNY and harmless and in no way insults the grieving relatives of the crash victims or anyone else! What’s WRONG with these judgmental Americans who jump to take offense to every little thing and act all holier than thou? Get OVER yourselves! Live and let live. We need more laughs and fewer snide complaints. WE ARE FIRMLY ON TEAM JASON. (Except we cannot defend that awful necktie)

HBO’S HISTORY OF ROCK N ROLL IN NEW YORK

AG039304_01martcut

Martin Scorsese is directing what looks to be a VERY interesting series pilot for HBO. It’s an untitled rock n roll project that takes place in 1970’s New York (the Max’s Kansas City era.) Punk and disco were both breaking out and Bobby Cannavale (in the car, above) plays a record executive scrambling to resurrect his label with a new sound. Ray Romano is his outspoken co-worker. Lots of drugs, sex, hot clubs, and gangsters – even some Warhol characters. Mick Jagger is one of the producers and his son James has a role in the series. Andrew Dice Clay plays a bad guy. This was a great time in the city – and young people could actually afford to live there!

NEIL PATRICK HARRIS CARRIES A LITTLE BIT OF “HEDWIG” WITH HIM

122892PCN_Neil03CUT

Neil Patrick Harris may be all manned up in a suit and tie while doing business in New York, but a hint of his transgender Broadway character “Hedwig” is always with him: note his red painted fingernails. And since his show opened in April, Tony winner Neil has never missed a performance – he doesn’t even have an understudy. Yet he manages to have a life with his partner David Burtka and their two young children. He also has a juicy role in the already acclaimed film “Gone Girl” being released in October. Can this likeable actor do no wrong?

GINNIFER GOODWIN: THE SHOW MUST GO ON!

122826PCN_Ginnifer43cut

You’ve got to give Ginnifer Goodwin, 35, credit – she gave birth on May 29 and just a few weeks later she was back at work on the Vancouver set of the ABC fantasy/drama “Once Upon a Time.” Ginnifer plays Snow White on the series and her husband (whom she met doing the show) Josh Dallas, is appropriately cast as Prince Charming. Fortunately, the show’s writers had Ginnifer’s character give birth at the end of last season right before her real-life baby Oliver was born, so she doesn’t have to take drastic measures to get back in shape.
