IS CONCHITA THE WURST?

AG042741_01conchcut

This is Tom Neuwirth in character as his drag persona Conchita Wurst. Austrian singer Wurst won the Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen (whatever that is) so he’s currently enjoying notoriety in Europe. He says he is a gay man – not a transgender. Sorry, but the makeup and women’s clothes combined with the beard gives us the creeps. Can’t help it. What do you think?

Back to reality. Nice to see that Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello still look really happy together. He was a rebound romance for Sofia after she and her fiancée Nick Loeb broke up. They spent Saturday browsing shops and an art gallery in Malibu. The night before, all eyes were on them at the CAA Pre-Emmy party in Beverly Hills.

IS JUSTIN BIEBER WHAT ROCKSTARS WANT TO LOOK LIKE TODAY?

And THIS is what men’s fashion has come to in the world of music. Justin Bieber is decked out in his uniform – an oversize sleeveless black t-shirt and equally big and baggy shorts (actually they’re Capri length.) The fuchsia athletic shoes add a surprise touch. His head looks good without a baseball cap. Apparently this look is irresistible to young women like Selena Gomez.

WHEN THE TEDDY BOYS RULED

chelmsford teds 1974-1cut

As long as we’re on the subject of men’s vintage fashion, we might as well bring up our all-time favorite male look: The British Teddy Boy. Inspired by Edwardian fashion and fueled by rock n’ roll, the Teds were the coolest. Their hair was strictly greaser, and there was more than a pinch of rockabilly – long jackets with velvet collars, embroidered vests, stovepipe pants, and creepers. They even had their own dance called “The Creep.” They all idolized the American singer Gene “Be-Bop-A-Lula “ Vincent. Be still my heart….
