NICE TO SEE DANNY MODER CALLING THE SHOTS

Julia Roberts and Chiwetel Ejiofor were sitting on an LA street filming a scene for The Secret in their Eyes when Julia’s husband Danny Moder, the cameraman, walked over to give the actors a few pointers. Julia’s role in this movie was originally written for a man but producers wanted her so badly they rewrote the part. Although her character still does look a bit mannish in that short wig and suit. The movie is a thriller about old friends who reunite to solve a 25 year old crime.

WE SPENT AN EVENING WITH CHEVY CHASE

Chevy Chase, has indeed, always been his own worst enemy. He was lucky enough to be in the cast of Saturday Night Live when it premiered in 1975 and the show was an immediate sensation. His success was so intoxicating that he quit after the first season “to become a movie star.” And he never looked back. Rumors that he was obnoxious were just starting to circulate but he was still generally admired. I happened to make a date with a young actor who appeared in the very successful film “Nashville” that same year and he brought his friend Chevy along. We ended up at someone’s fabulous hillside house watching TV and the REAL Chevy was soon revealed. He made nonstop insulting comments about everyone on the tube. He was condescending and pretentious about his fancy upbringing and vulgar to boot. He made everyone feel awful – especially his nice actor friend. It was an unforgettable and very revealing evening.

LEEZA GIBBONS WON CELEBRITY APPRENTICE THE OLD FASHIONED WAY

We just have to congratulate Leeza Gibbons on winning Celebrity Apprentice without ever giving in to petty feuds, insulting comments, or ego driven tantrums. She is a credit to the female sex. (Ironically, she and the other finalist, Geraldo, had competing talk shows back in the 90’s) Granted, all the histrionics between competing apprentices make for entertaining TV, and they are undoubtedly encouraged to act up and be snarky about each other. Along with the trumped up drama, there are a lot of character revealing moments and Leeza managed to make NO enemies. She just focused on the task at hand and got every job done. She proved her intelligence and regard for others – if only there were more CEOs like her.
