Now that Levi Johnston has conquered Playgirl, we hear he’s headed for Wisteria Lane. Levi, who also goes by the name Rikki Hollywood, is in talks to guest star on a three episode arc on “Desperate Housewives.” Marc Cherry, the series creator, is a gay Republican and he was intrigued by Levi when he saw him at last year’s Republican National Convention. He offered Levi a role on the show and Levi/Rikki is taking acting lessons to prepare.

“PRECIOUS” SAYS A LOT ABOUT THE WELFARE SYSTEM

We were impressed with an observation that the NY Post’s Andrea Peyser made about the Oscar nominated movie “Precious.” She pointed out that you don’t often see movies coming out of left-leaning Hollywood that show the results of welfare dependency in a BAD light. The agonizing story of teenage Precious features her sadistic mother, played by Mo’Nique, who won’t leave the house as long as her monthly checks arrive. The dysfunctional family knows all the tricks to maximize their government assistance. Andrea points out that the REAL villain in this movie is the SYSTEM that rewards horrendous behavior while financially punishing those who are productive. How right she is.

GERARD BUTLER IS JENNIFER ANISTON’S SPECIAL GUEST IN CABO

We’re really happy to see Jennifer Aniston having some fun in the sun with Gerard Butler. Why Not? Gerard, who costarred with Jen in “The Bounty Hunter,” flew down to Cabo after Jen arrived with her friends Courteney Cox and David Arquette, Sheryl Crowe, and others. Apparently the group has a big hacienda with private guest houses on the property. Jen and Gerard stayed in a little casita not far from the main house. Gerard has the binoculars – is he looking for paparazzi? Jen is standing behind him. Nice way to spend a week.

BRAD AND ANGELINA ARE GETTING EVEN, NOT SPLITTING UP!

Now that Brad and Angelina are suing the UK’s News of the World for falsely claiming they were seeing lawyers to negotiate a split, we think everyone should take a harsh look at all the magazines who jumped on the fake story and further exaggerated it. Some mags had Brad begging Jennifer to take him back, some had Jennifer turning Brad down, and others claimed Jen and Brad have been together secretly for awhile! Brad and Jen have NOT been in touch since their divorce. Period. Jen is currently in Mexico with friends including Gerard Butler. It’s time to call publications (and bloggers) to task for lazily or deliberately publishing false stories. Keep in mind, the REAL story is always harder to get. LEONARDO DICAPRIO IS HOOKED ON JERSEY SHORE

The Jersey Shore kids are STILL talking about one night they spent at a Hollywood club because a major movie star proved to be one of their biggest fans. One night Leonardo DiCaprio and Bar Rafaeli were at Voyeur and Leo was looking bored as usual, with sunglasses and his cap pulled down. The Jersey Shore cast walked in and Leo came to life. He ran up and hugged the startled Snooki, exclaiming “You guys are the coolest!” He insisted on having his photo taken with each of them (You KNOW how he usually hates photos) and invited them to sit at HIS table. “He treated them like ROYALTY,” an observer told us. “He didn’t want Lindsay Lohan to sit at his table, but he loved having the Jersey cast.“ He introduced the Jersey guys to Victoria’s Secret models and was having so much fun he wouldn’t let them leave until 3:30 AM.

Vanity Fair’s all white young Hollywood cover is all the more perplexing because they overlooked the young star of the biggest boxoffice movie of all time: Avatar. What genuis at that magazine failed to recognize the explosive success and laudable efforts of beautiful Zoe Saldana? She seems like the most obvious choice of all.

MEL GIBSON: ON THE ROAD TO RECOVERY?

We’ve been wondering if Mel Gibson would be able to clean up his image after his drunken rant a few years ago. He chose the right material for his comeback– in “Edge of Darkness” he portrays an anguished father determined at all costs to solve the mystery of his daughter’s death. His character was sympathetic and decent. We were curious about what kind of reception his movie would get when we saw it at a SAG screening. At the end the audience applauded loudly when Mel’s name came up in the credits, so we assume all is somewhat forgiven.

DEAR JOHN KNOCKED AVATAR OFF THE TOP

“Dear John” was number one at the box office this weekend – and ousting ”Avatar” is quite an accomplishment. Of course, it’s possible that lots of women went to see Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried while their boyfriends and husbands watched Super Bowl football, but the timing for a love story was definitely right.

We like the way Brad Pitt bonds with his kids one at a time. That way they each feel special. This weekend he flew out of LAX to Miami and took Maddox, 8, to the Super Bowl. Mad loves sports and he and Brad often attend games while Pax loves playing video games with his dad. Brad also knows what little girls like and he has taken both Shiloh and Zahara – separately – to the American Girl store and bought them dolls that look like themselves.

Joe Jonas, looking bookish and low-key, had lunch at the Figaro Cafe on Vermont in Silverlake, and afterward he and a friend went to Y-Que Trading Post, the famous t-shirt store down the street. Joe examined a “Frankie Say Relax” shirt , he looked at “I Hate The Environment” and “Free Roman Polanski” but what he ended up buying was a shirt that said “Never Forget PLUTO” featuring ink that glows in the dark. (Pluto, you will recall, has been downgraded from a planet to a number.)

DR CONRAD MURRAY: POOR LITTLE ME!

A few days before his court appearance on involuntary manslaughter charges, Michael Jackson’s physician Dr Conrad Murray paid a visit to Jackson’s grave at Forest Lawn cemetery. He was photographed looking serious and contrite, perhaps in hopes of drumming up some sympathy for his malpractice accusations. Last we heard, he is expected to appear in court on Monday.

You’d never guess it by looking at her, but Teri Hatcher’s days on “Desperate Housewives” are numbered. (She and her daughter Emerson are in Beverly Hills, above) It’s a big secret, but Teri’s character will be written off the show sometime next season – and she may not know it yet. Teri’s storyline has pretty much run it’s course and producers want to shake things up a bit so they’re brainstorming to come up with an outrageous and unexpected departure for Susan Mayer.

BRITTANY MURPHY SHOULD NOT HAVE DIED

We wonder how Brittany Murphy’s family feels about the results of her autopsy. They had insisted she was very ill when she died and drugs were not a factor. It turns out she WAS seriously ill with pneumonia and anemia and that PLUS prescription drugs were the lethal combination. The fact that she had not seen a doctor and was obviously self- medicating indicates that she was not taking care of herself and no one was insisting that she do so. If she were living alone this might be more understandable, but people who loved her were in the same house. It’s strange. And terribly sad.

WE DON’T AGREE WITH THE JUDGES ON “LAUNCH MY LINE”

We were deeply disappointed when our friend Merle Ginsberg didn’t win on “Launch My Line” tonight. We thought her clever collection was a sure thing, but the judges didn’t agree. The AUDIENCE did agree, however. Merle got the Audience Favorite Award, which unfortunately was not televised. Interestingly enough, Merle was the only contestant who was NOT told her line had been DROPPED, so the door is still open a crack….. (Above, Merle is chatting with Sharon Stone)

HAS THE B.E.T. NETWORK GONE MAD? THEY GAVE DOG KILLER MICHAEL VICK HIS OWN REALITY SHOW

One place we will NOT be on Tuesday nights is watching BET. They rewarded Michael Vick, a man who tortured and killed dogs for his own amusement, with his own reality show! The first episode aired Feb 2. Just because he served his 23 month sentence doesn’t mean we have forgiven Vick for the unspeakable things he did to those dogs. BET hopes the ten episodes of “The Michael Vick Project, Season 1” will convince us he’s not such a bad guy after all. It’s a disgrace and BET should be ashamed. Hopefully, the ratings will speak for themselves.

ZOE SALDANA IS RETURNING TO PANDORA

We wish that adorable Zoe Saldana, who starred in “Avatar,” the highest grossing movie of all time, had gotten some award nominations. Her appealing character was the heart of the movie and she doesn’t get enough credit. Zoe will appear in the upcoming sequal, which we look forward to seeing NOT in 3D. Personally, we weren’t so crazy about the 3D – it seemed to drain away much of the color and clarity of the movie.

LEIF GARRETT GAVE UP DRIVING, BUT NOT DRUGS

Teen idol Leif Garrett (above, photographed in the 1970’s with then girlfriend Nicollette Sheridan) was on top of the world until 1979. He was eighteen when he wrecked his car while high on drugs and paralyzed his best friend from the waist down. Since then he’s wrestled with drug problems but seems to have stayed away from cars because his past few drug arrests have happened at Metrolink stations. This week he was locked up for having heroin in his shoe and despite his down and out appearance, he DID manage to scrounge up the $10.000 bail. A perfect candidate for Celebrity Rehab.
