We were fascinated when this photo of Tom Jones and his wife Linda turned up because they’re almost never photographed together. They were seen leaving a video rental store in LA. UK papers say that Linda lives in Tom’s Beverly Hills mansion but she rarely goes out because she supposedly suffers from agoraphobia. She leaves the house rarely and when Tom is around to accompany her and he is often out of town on tour. Apparently Linda doesn’t take part in Tom’s glamorous lifestyle and she has turned a blind eye to his many flirtations. She and Tom were only 16 when they wed back in 1957.

And, (for the older set), we have long known Linda still sticks by him and they prob will never divorce. Many people do not realize it, but marriage is used in the Bible as a symbol of our relationship with Jesus. He is the bridegroom, and His people are the bride. When we turn away from Jesus, it is like cheating on our spouses. We should treat our spouses with the love that Jesus showers on us.
No matter what we do, Jesus always forgives us and takes us back. How many of us wants Him to dump us? Linda is like Jesus–loving, patient, and forgiving. Tom is like some of us, sinning for years and finally turning around. Better late than never. At least they are almost at the finish line. “The race is not given to the swift nor the strong, but to them who endure to the end.” Who says there isn’t hell to pay along the way? “Gotta love them.” They are called survivors.
I am not saying take crap off a spouse, but, according to popular surveys, most divorced spouses regret their decision to part. Also, common sense says there are many reasons why couples should part–extreme abuse, bestiality, etc. If you fear that your spouse will give you AIDS because of his/her infidelities, take the risk or let them hoe that row by themselves.
