ADVENTURELAND WILL SURPRISE YOU

Just because “Adventureland” is about a group of recent college graduates floundering in the outside world, doesn’t mean it’s aimed simply at that age group. It’s a post-teen movie that’s just as appealing for adults – maybe even more so. We remember what it was like in 1987 – before cell phones and computers. Jesse Eisenberg (“The Squid and the Whale”) plays a smart but awkward nerd, forced to take a summer job at the local amusement park, and Kristen Stewart (“Twilight”) plays the object of his affection. They’re both terrific and his exasperating and fabulous summer is an original and authentic experience.

   Janet, it seems whenever these films open weak you pump them on your blog. Are you under the employ f the Hollywood studios? We know you are paid by Barney’s and other merchants for shout outs.

   I was just talking to my sister about films of yester-year, featuring people trying to stop loved ones going on a plane or missing an appointment with a loved one. Movies featuring a time before the cell phone (or the internet); a life that teens know nothing about but very real to many of us.
   I want to see this film, thanks for the heads up Janet!

   Cute movie. I liked it a lot. Kristen Stewart is so breathtakingly beautiful and a very talented young actress.
