TLC’s reality series All-American Muslim got a whole lot of favorable attention when Lowe’s pulled their ads from the show. Lowe’s is being slammed right and left for the move and they will certainly live to regret it. Meanwhile, the Muslims freaked out their own viewers and lost their acquired good will due to an act of animal cruelty in episode 4. One of the show’s stars Shadia Amen outraged animal lovers when she heartlessly gave away her husband’s 10 year old dog because of her allergies. Americans love their dogs and this is an act not to be tolerated. According to The Hollywood Reporter, TLC is getting plenty of flak and Muslims aren’t looking so all-American. (Personally, we grind our teeth every time we see a woman in a head wrap or burka because she is obviously accepting the notion that she is a second class citizen.)

True and dogs are like pork and you dont complain about the yids running from pork. If Muslim women feel they should wear head covering…let them do so…once again, you dont complain about the yids wearing their caps and head covering. It’s not the religion it is the individual who is the problem.

Janet, there is a BIG difference between a hijab and a niqab. A hijab does not have anything to do with being oppressed or second class. I also don’t see it as cruel to give up a pet due to allergies. How miserable do you expect someone to be living with the symptoms of allergies 24/7?

Who cares if she got the terminology right. A woman wearing a head covering for religious reasons is indeed showing her sub/secondary status to men.

btw, why did Lowes get flak for pulling their ads? I missed that one. Don’t they have the right to sponsor whom they want? I like Lowes becuz they support the Muscular Dystrophy Summer Camp program, which one of my sons attends every year. (My son has given thank you speeches at Lowes.) Anyway, when you see these poor kids at these camps, a highlight of the year for many of them, who are severely handicapped or terminal, it makes you thankful for the companies that help out. Who cares if they don’t want to sponsor yet another tedious reality-freak-fest.

In a nutshell, Lowes bowed to pressure from the Florida Family Association, bigoted zealots who demanded they pull their ads because the Muslim’s in this show are normal people. They insist Muslims can only be portrayed as terrorists or it’s propaganda.

The world is losing it’s frickin collective mind, no lie.

Thanks by@, I looked it up, there is an insane free-for-all going on about it @ LA Times. I don’t like prejudiced organizations like the Florida Family Assoc., but I also don’t like religions that treat women, children & gays abominably.

Apparently, this show has tanked in the ratings & a lot of their sponsors, many bigger corps than Lowes, pulled their advertising. I don’t know or care why Lowes was singled out for a backlash. As I mentioned upthread, they help pay for disabled children to go to beautiful summer camps, a more than worthy cause. They won’t lose my families business becuz they chose to pull advertising on a reality show that has lost more than half their viewers in a couple of months.

I support Lowe’s and have told them so. They can advertise anyway they want to-it’s still a free country, so far. I don’t watch the Muslim propaganda show because it’s part of the agenda to showcase them and their agenda as just mainstream and normal. Since the great majority support enforcing Sharia law and lying about their true objectives, I’ll never trust them and really don’t want them over here. Many of them have publicly stated they want to kill or convert the whole world and they are currently trying to take over Europe and enforce Sharia law over there. As far as them not treating their dogs right-why should they? They treat their women the same way. In fact they may put dogs ahead of their women.

Yes, Americans love their dogs so much that they created puppy mills to make more, they abandon the dogs on the side of the road or worse when they move on or the dogs become inconvenient, and the ASPCA and Humane Society put thousands of dogs to sleep each year because of the owner’s love of their dogs. Let’s be honest — many Americans love the image of the pet dog, but fail miserably when the responsibilities kick in.

I’m from the Detroit area originally, and they have the largest group of Middle Eastern people living outside the Middle East, I think I read about 300,000. They run all the small “party” stores, gas stations etc. Maybe it’s a good idea to have this show to get rid of some of the preconceptions people have, they are not all terrorists. Huge numbers of them were/are Chaldeans, who are not Muslims but Christians. If these women choose to wear something on their heads that’s up to them. I used to wear something on my head to Catholic church back in the day when it was required, it certainly didn’t mean I was “less than”.

Burkas are oppressive and horrible. We should not allow them to be worn in the states.

Animal cruelty, really?? Good one Janet. Way to find a way to get everybody trashing Muslims in a round about way. So friggin what if some LADY gave away a dog. As long as the dog went to a good home, who gives a shit! What was she supposed to do? Where a hazmat suit just so her husband can keep his dog? I dont think so. Allergies sometimes happen over time. I think the underlying tone of your post was, you just don’t like Muslims. Just my opinion.

  21. By georgie
    On December 14, 2011 at

I don’t think she was “trashing Muslims” at all. Other websites are complaining about the dog issue as well. Janet seems like she is almost excessively nice imo. This is much ado about nothing, people. Reality shows are f a k e. As in totally f a k e. As in scripted. For heavens sake, why get wound up over a freaking reality show? If anything, Lowes’ showed poor judgement in sponsoring it in the first place. There are certainly well adjusted, integrated muslims living in America, there are a lot of them living in my area; however, I doubt if this show really shows authentic muslim life in Dearborn, about which I’ve heard a great deal from various escapees, I mean former residents.

Palermo, I also wore those little lacy things in church when I was a kid. The custom is from the apostle Paul saying that women should cover their hair to show their submissiveness to men. I respect other peoples rights to do what they want, but that doesn’t mean I have to approve of the custom.

ah, doesn’t just about every statue of the Virgin Mary have her wearing a head scarf?

Don’t sound so stupid JC. The gloves you used to wear to hide the age in your arms and hands are much more demeaning then a burka or head scarf (same with your hair dye to cover your natural age = it’s MORE offensive and degrades woman as well as DEVAULUES us as we age).

The wigs orthodox Jewish women wear are called “sheitels”. I have a friend who is orthodox and frankly, adhering to her religious beliefs works for her and she is happy.

If a woman wants to wear something on her head as part of her religion, it is none of my business. Just as it is not their business who or what I believe in.

Didn’t you guys go to Sunday School? There are other scriptures about it but I gotta run! Have a good day All!

    1 Corinthians 11:3-10
    King James Version (KJV)

3But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

4Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.

5But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.

6For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.

7For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.

8For the man is not of the woman: but the woman of the man.

9Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.

10For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.

The false prophet of Islam, Muhammad, had many wives, committed adultery and rape, and even married girls as young as ten years old. Muslims are under the influence of strong demonic spirits causing them to worship Allah and his prophet Muhammad. However, many are fleeing this false religion and turning to Christianity. Sadly, many are still turning to Islam.

I guess this issue explains the reason for so much conflict taking place in the world today. All in the name of religion, right? Every religion believes that they are righteous ones therefore the people/idiots(depends on one’s perspective I suppose) that follow their religion, believe that they too, are indeed right!

I found this quote that I thought may be fitting: “religion is a crutch for people who are too weak to make it through life on their own”. To a certain extent I believe this. There are too many people hiding behind their religion thinking because they chose it, it’s right. Bullshit!!

Why suffer because of an animal? Janet u r off the hook w this one. I became allergic in my 50′s and had to get rid of our cats. Ones health is more important than a pet. How silly to even consider suffering physically for an animal. Have you ever suffered allergys or had your health threatened by an animal. It sucks. I don’t know if any of you liberal “let’s love and accept everyone” nutjobs realize that in Islam, dogs are pretty much forbidden. If a Muzzie touches a wet dog, they are then considered “unpure” and have to wash their hands SEVEN TIMES, one time with mud/clay/earth to “wash away” the impurities of Satan. They feel that “Satan has spit” on dogs, leaving them vile and unclean. They think dogs are lower than pigs. So, this woman didn’t have “allergies”, she has Islam.

If any of you care to enlighten yourselves on the world wide love spreading of the cult that is Islam, check out It gives you a blow by blow count of daily worldwide “jihads”, how many people were killed, injured or displaced by the peaceful Muslims, as well the atrocities committed worldwide by Islam. Do you know that a Muslim woman in Peshawar was IN HER HOME, breastfeeding her baby, when Islamic militants busted through her door, witnesses her breastfeeding, then cut off and mulitated her breasts? What about all the gay people in Islamic countries MURDERED every single day in the name of “Allah”? What about the Muslim’s total and complete intolerance of other religions? What about the atrocities against Islamic women and children, again WORLDWIDE?

So, I’m supposed to “accept” what I feel is a complete and total barbaric cult that oppresses women, is violent to their own as well as others, is intolerant of homosexuals/transgenders, has absolutely NO compassion when it comes to human suffering? Seriously? No thanks. You touchy-feely “let’s accept these barbarians into our culture and try not to hurt their barbaric feelings” can have fun with that. I wouldn’t trust a Muslim as far as I could throw one. Their “religion” doesn’t allow them to accept me, why should I do the same?

Freedom of religion is protected by our constitution but religious practices should not spill out into society or we end up with this. It is a very difficult issue which is made much worse by rampant illegal immigration and even worse govt sponsored immigration such as all the Iraqi’s and Afghans brought here from the war. They all should go back and build their country to its greatest potential.

The biggest thing I hate about Muslim countries is: if we went there and tried to start/plant a Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian church, see how fast you would be run out of the country/or your head cut off. Yet, here in U.S., they can have their mosques and if someone wrote graffiti on the mosque, then we the taxpayers would have to pay our police to protect them. Who could argue with these statements? This is not right. I do not trust ANY Muslim; they are demons, inside and out. They hate us, all of them. Believe it.

Innocent kids, if they die before the age of accountability will immediately go to heaven. Hopefully the kids will hear the gospel of Christ, turn from false religion of Islam, their names entered in the Lamb’s Book of Life, and they are saved. Do you not know there are thousands of evangelicals in middle eastern Muslim countries,***working undercover*** to spread the truth. Many are getting out of it. In the end, it is what they believe in their hearts.

So as long as these kids change everything they were raised to believe (you were obviously raised the same way) or die before maturity, they are golden with you?

I feel this poisonous way of thinking is what’s bringing this world to it’s knees. Everyone is right and nobody budges from their one track way of thinking. Why not do away with religion all together? Oh, I know why. Because people like you would be lost! With nobody to tell you what was right or wrong, you just may gain more understanding of others, and that would be a travesty, right?

I follow my heart, and I know a good person with a good heart full of LOVE and understanding. And at the end of my days, that’s all that matters!

Thanks for clarifying, “Christine India”. ;)
