What do YOU think about Jennifer Lopez replacing Ellen Degeneres on American Idol? According to Nikki Finke, it’s a done deal whether you like it or not, and both parties seem quite happy. Ellen wanted OUT of her contract a year before it was up- she said doing the show was no fun. Jennifer’s career can use a boost, PLUS she knows a bit more about singing that Ellen does. Jennifer’s diva-ish glamour will also add a visual element to the judges panel. As for replacing Simon Cowell – everyone hoped for Elton John, but he’s too expensive and too busy. Steven Tyler is currently in talks for that slot.

Jennifer is perfect. Harry connick jr is food.
    Brett michaels good.
    David Foster good.

PLEASE NO STEVEN TYLER! I really couldn’t stand having to look at his skeletal face all the time and he really doesn’t know ANYTHING about singing…all he does is SCREAM with his band. That’s NOT singing!
Jennifer would work fine in all ways and be a big plus. DUMP RANDY JACKSON!!!!! His three word vocabulary is way past old. So SICK if him and hearing his tired one word sentences. Cara is fine, at least she has experience and can sing and write.

Reta, I also can not stand Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler. Hideous beasts.

I hardly watch it anymore anyway. DWTS has soundly beaten it in the ratings.

Thank God Ellen’s gone. She was awful.

Jennifer is not a singer, she is a lip-syncher. Any shred of integrity the show had is now gone with this choice of judge. It doesn’t matter who they get to replace Simon, the show is DOA now.

Jennifer Lopez may know a little more about singing than Ellen DeGeneres, but not by much.

Jennifer’s movie and singing career is over and that is why she is on american idol.

American Idol started becoming gimmicky last season (hiring Ellen as a judge), and now this season is turning into a panel version of has beens or never were Dancing With The ‘Stars’. The original chemistry is totally gone. Whether you loved or hated them, Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul were the ‘it’ factor magic makers. And who the heck’s idea was Steven Tyler of all people? This show is so living on borrowed time.

Just because a person was a successful singer doesn’t mean they were good singers. How is Jennifer Lopez going to critique or provide tips to these contestants when she needs them herself?

My dirty little secret: Even though her acting sucks, I still watch the Wedding Planner. Love that cheesy movie.

I hope petunia is right, and Idol will soon be DOA. I despise that show, it comes a close second to (the more British phenomena of) stage schools for ruining pop music.

Pop acts used to be either artistes (who earned their cred) or grand media stunts (Sex Pistols, BowWowWow, StaceyQ) orchestrated by genius producers.

American Idol made the world a whole lot more boring. Good Riddance!

Jebus ! This is the worst mistake they could make ! Other than Perez Hilton, this broad is the LAST person to be giving singing advice. If it wasn’t for Tommy Mottola seeing an Latina opportunity, this chick would be waiting tables at Red Lobster.

If this is true, the will be the last season of AI.

IMHO: A.I. failed because of abscence of Paula and the failings of Kara and ellen. Also, I think it went downhill when they started letting contestants accompany themselves on guitar or piano. This somehow did not feel right. I hate this show and it is obvious that the ‘wheels’ are grasping at straws to keep it alive.

  14. By Indy
    On July 30, 2010 at

P.S.: If (big IF) A.I. makes it another season, I plan to tune in the last 10 minutes to see who won. Even though I think it may be on the way to failure, there will still be 1000’s of hopefuls going for tryouts. Don’t these fools know that it is all ultra phony and fixed?

At least Ellen had the good sense to admit she was out of place on the show. I rarely watched last year and with Simon gone, I won’t watch at all so I don’t care who they hire. For the record, I love Steven Tyler, but I don’t think he’ll do this show.

  16. By City Girl

Indy, I think you have some valid points- Also, I think the season just drug out too long. Viewers get impatient, and personally, the theme weeks got old really fast.
I do not want to see a rocker try to sing country. A performer’s schtick is their schtick.

So many of the mentors are not in charge of their own career, so how could they be leaders when they aren’t leading themselves ? You can only fool an audience for so long- Consumers are smarter than we are given credit for…

Even too much Ben & Jerry’s is just, well, too much of a good thing.

She is plastic and I give her managers and publicity people great credit….no one seeks fame as much and is willing to do as much to be famous…..anyone who was willing to give up her ass to black Puffy Combs in order to become known was willing to do anything…she is the total model for the Kardashians…do anything for a $$$.

Steven Tyler was the most popular guess by far for a recent CDAN Blind Item about an aging rock star who just got out of rehab, impregnated an underage girl while he was there, and who is now pleading with her to have an abortion she keeps refusing for any amount of money. American Idol better do their homework before laying a contract in front of him.

I stopped watching this show in SEason 5. And JLo and her Bronx-Tawk-I’m-Just-Like-Youz accent will not make me watch it again. Steven Tyler might be interesting. Where does that leave Randy? He’s gonna be such an afterthought and does he say anything other day ‘dawg, I’m not feelin’ it dawg”? Simon was this show. Good luck AI.

Ellen is TOO nice. I am getting really sick of her, regardless of the venue or forum.

I find it interesting that two lesbians – Ellen and Rosie – made it big in day-time talk shows doing the Nice and Sweet routine.

Notice that Rosie eventually went off – she could not take the Nice and Sweet after a while. I wonder when Ellen will go off.

Pardon, but here’s my 3rd and final output, please. I think when they went to FOUR judges, it really was draggy and boring. Breaking news is that S. Tyler will be the judge.

I have hated Randy from day one. His 3 word vocabulary got old the second time he used it and how many years ago was that? Someone should sew his lips together…I need relief BAD! Simon was the only reason that show was ANY good at all! I will switch over to the new show he is going to be on that is similar but doesn’t have age limits. I hated Paula, she was retarded or something, just wrong wrong wrong! Ellen was okay, sweet, but obviously didn’t know how to CRITIQUE music. I don’t know why Cara was fired unless it was the public just never caught on to her. She HAD the experience needed to do the job and was honest in her critiques of the singers. If they put Jessica Simpson in it will really turn into a huge joke, She’s as retarded as Paula is, maybe worse. They need to get some people with actual brains, like Simon had , and balls like Simon had to speak the truth that needs to be spoken so the losers won’t be put thru.

American Idol is ovah. It is so yesterday, that JLO suits the sinking ship perfectly. It is just as lame as dancing with the has-beens, which JLO should also consider.

  26. By Lenny
    On July 30, 2010 at

American Idol was really Simon’s show with the others pulling up the rear. NO one really cared what Randy, Paula, Kara or Ellen said. This show going on would be like Seinfeld without Jerry, or CSI-Miami without David Caruso. This show is dead, just throw dirt on it.

  27. By SebastianCanada
    On July 30, 2010 at

Simon and “pulling up the rear” in the same sentence.

    HaHaHaHaHa….Lenny made a funnny!!!

It would be interesting to see what J Lo’s people paid Janet to put this story up and leave it at 1-2 for a few days! Publicity for the queen of pub whore’s.

Strom, you act like no other actress does make up and hair. All women were pieces on the head. It can be hair clips, wigs, weave, piece of a wig, or even better invisible hair line wig. There was a recent picture of Raquel Welch with one on.

  31. By SebastianCanada

Raquel Welch always wears wigs. John Cryer has more hair.

  32. By strom

HaHaHa.Yeah Strom, good point. Why do these celebs want their own reality show when there isn’t a single REAL thing about them?

  34. By City Girl
    On August 2, 2010 at

There has been so much negative stuff about the show in general, and her in particular, I’m betting she’ll pull out.

The show should be retitled “American Desperation.”

  35. By SebastianCanada
    On August 2, 2010 at

Considering previous contestants and winner, the show should always have been called, Quest for the Pudgy and Sexless.

    On August 2, 2010 at

Jennifer is gonna have to have a large entourage of: hairdressers, wig-fixers, wardrobe, a large mirror, makeup artist, and a luxurious trailer for her tiny skeletal man to wait for her while she’s on camera.

  38. By E

Er, no, Lopez does not know any more about singing than DeGeneres does.

Jennifer Lopez is a mediocre dancer, mediocre singer, mediocre song-cowriter, who bj’d and stalked and harassed her way into a career. That does not replace talent, unless she is moving to Vivid Entertainment (porno)

Hell, they’d do better to get NotALady CaCa in than Lopez; at least CaCa can tell them which class acts to try to rip off and how to look stupid.

Love him or hate him, this guy is a loudmouth who doesn’t hesitate to tell it like he sees it- but there’s one thing he NEVER talks about: his prostate problem. Long story short: he LEAKS! He likes to project an image of macho virility, but under his custom made suits are custom made “diapers.” He’s VERY self-conscious and has absorbent but undetectable “panty liners” sewn into all his underwear, to avoid wet spots. Thanks to his arrogant behavior, he has more than a few enemies and he’s terrified his secret will be exposed and he’ll be forever ridiculed!
