AMY WINEHOUSE: SHE TOLD US SHE WAS TROUBLE

It’s a really bad day when you wake up and find out Amy Winehouse died. Of course, we all half expected Amy to go this way – she hadn’t been able to get her act together for years. Her last boyfriend was Reg Traviss, but she hadn’t been seen with him lately. She will always be a true original – from her beehive down to her scuffed ballet slippers. Amy always looked like she got her fashion inspiration from Cholas in Los Angeles. All her problems, yearning for love, struggling with alcohol and drugs, were apparent in her exquisite songs. Now she’ll always be a 27 year old icon.

  1. Heartbreaking to see a young life wasted. Also, weird about the 27 year old thing. Condolences to her family. RIP Amy.

  2. What a waste. I feel most badly for her dad. He tried so hard.

  3. This hit me hard and that surprised me. SO sad a young woman ends like this. How horrible for her family… at the least she is at peace and not suffering through this world anymore.
This places just chews people up and spits them out…..some people just can’t deal with it for very long….
Rest In peace Amy Jane. You will be missed.

  4. Even though I saw this coming I still feel sad, she wasn’t a bad person just messed up. Poor thing. I hope she’s at peace now.

  5. I agree with all of the previous comments and am relieved that, so far, no one has made disparaging remarks which is what I expected. If you listen to her sing “Back to Black,” there’s no doubting her immense talent as an artist. Her death is a loss for music lovers but that is insignificant, of course, to the pain her family is experiencing. It must be even harder to grieve with all of the media craziness that goes with a celebrity death.

  6. Very sad, what a waste of talent.

I am predicting whomever her beneficiary is is going get a profitable payoff as I think her album sales will go through the roof. Hopefully it isn’t that Civil-Fielder dude!! Ugh

  7. I don’t see how anyone can be shocked unless you do not follow sites like TMZ who posted her concert from Serbia (?) where she couldn’t even stand up and got booed off the stage. As soon as I watched that when they posted it about a month or so ago, I knew her clock was ticking. This was bound to happen.

  8. Like almost any celebrity, poor AMY was also a disposable one. “They” finished her off. Its so easy and convenient to blame her lifestyle for her early demise. Not… She was just another mind control victim and thrown away the very moment she became useless to them.

  9. She did have a smooth effortless voice. We all could see it coming, even she could. Drugs are the worst thing in the world.

  10. Amy was a talented musician with a great voice. Addiction usually stems from a deep rooted problem & for some, they numb the pain with drugs, alcohol or whatever their choice. It’s truly sad when someone goes this way. RIP Amy.

  11. Sorry for the wasted life. She was far too coddled and enabled like Lindsay and if she had been thrown in the slammer each time she would probably still be around. The music industry promoted her so much but she was just an average talent with a weird look like GAGA and was made to be something out of the norm. Nothing spectacular at all but like Michael Jackson sales will rocket after her death.

  12. sad sad day yesterday was, poor amy her music was fantastic, she had her troubles but who doesnt in this evil world.she will be missed by fans everywhere and i just hope she can be at peace now gone but never forgotten R.I.P AMY WINEHOUSE

  13. I really liked her music, she was an original. I hope other young people take a lesson from this and quit using, but sadly that’s usually not how it works. RIP Amy.

  14. sad… anyone else have problems with janets site over the last couple of days? I kept getting an error message.

  15. I’m always saddened when talented people lose the battle with their demons. She was a unique voice and we were fortunate to have been able to hear and enjoy it. May she rest in peace.

@libby, I have been unable to get on this site for days now. I was told it was “Forbidden”. Glad it’s fixed.

  16. My mother taught me when I was little to never say anything bad about anybody as they may die unexpectantly and then you will feel horrid about all of the negative things you had said about them.
    Ring true for anyone here?

  17. Amy DID have an unusual strong retro soul/regae voice and I can’t believe she only left two albums. I knew she was going to die and am amazed she didn’t go long before this, months ago in fact. I think she must have been in some kind of horrible pain to always obliterate herself so strongly and deeply and frequently with drugs and drinking.

And then the fake breasts that didn’t seem to give her two seconds of happiness and indeed, I think I remember her having to go back in the hospital over some trouble with them, an infection I believe.

And then there’s her heroin-addict prison-livin ex-husband whom she couldn’t seem to get over. I think he was a goodly part of her demise, keeping her down in the gutter with him.

I feel for her. A telented girl who never really GOT there: had health, happiness, real success. I saw her as the new young crazy version of Streisand but she COULD have grown a bit and straightened out and cleaned up her act and followed in those fabulous footsteps and had a long and wonderful and beloved career like her predecessor. It’s just too bad SHE never figured that out.

Goodbye talented lady, and thanks for sharing, however briefly, so sorry you had to go. Love, Reta

  18. Libby & Denise, yes, for days this site has been screwy, with “Forbiden” error crap coming up when attempting to log on. Janet truly has more trouble with this site than any of the other sites seem to have. I don’t understand WHY!

  19. Patrick….at one time in the past, I think I made the statement that Amy needed prayer, and was made fun of by someone we all know and love.

JC’s site has been down off and on for days, but maybe it’s fixed now. It makes you afraid that there is something wrong with your own computer. sheeesh, but stuff happens.

  20. Who will be your next muse now Janet? Lindsay Blowhan is available.

  21. Amy did INDEED need prayer. There is a God who created all this , and who can and does intercede, for us, His Creation. Sometimes, OK,LOTS o times, we supercede His will, and His help. She was a talented and sensitive person who also happened to be her own worst enemy. A tragic waste, not only to her family and friends, (I think of her parents, and her young God daughter), but to the World. Can you imagine the wonderful music she would have created in her maturity?

  22. Mary-Claire and Indy maybe the two of you can put your powerful heads together and get busy praying and straightening out the OTHER screwed up talent before they TOO are gone. You say prayer works. What happened? You two forgot to pray for Amy? Her mom and dad didn’t pray for her? her fans never prayed for her? What’s the deal here? Don’t believers say “God always hears your prayers”. What’s up with that? He just shines you on and flips you off? Well, maybe he’s not so hot on saving junkies. That’s my guess, what else could it be? I KNOW you guys did your best and prayed long and hard and really put your all into it. It just didn’t work! Let me know when it does, there are some really hungry kids in Africa and India that could use your help!

  23. Reta, God hears every one’s prayers. There is a reason that He doesn’t answer every one. We don’t know why. He is not a Celestial bellhop, running errands for tips. Why do you feel you have to demean other’s beliefs? Are you that much of a HATER, that you don;t let others proclaim their beliefs? What a narrow minded little attitude. I pray for YOU, that you open yourself up to the wonders and love that your Creator possess. He loves you too, you know. Is it just easier to hate, than be tolerant of others?

  24. Rereading my post, I find nothing inflammatory that warrented your sarcastic and hate filled retort. This is supposed to be the land of the Free. Not on board with what you’ve said on many ocassions, never ripped you a new one. I expect the same from a reasonable and sensible Adult who agrees with the concept of frank and open discussion. Don’t have to agree with me, don’t censor me. A well rounded and intelligent person should’nt have to be told that.

  25. Reta, if I knew the answer about how, why, when, and why not about prayers being answered, I would be the undisputed queen of the universe. All I know is I have seen some prayers answsered and others not answered. As to the suffering in Africa, India, and various places, when Satan fell to earth w/ 1/3 of the angels and when he caused Adam and Eve to fall, that is when evil, suffering, and sorrows entered the world. This is one of the prophecies declaring that at the end times: per Book of Matthew: there will be famines and pestilences, (as seen in the present).

PS: Hope you have fully recovered from your pain.

PPS: Hope you are well, M-C.

  26. Reta, if I knew the answer about why, when, where, and why not regarding answered prayer, I would be queen of the universe. All I know is I have seen some prayers answered and others not. RE the crisis in Africa and other places, when Satan and 1/3 of the angels fell from heaven and caused the fall of Adam and Eve, then that’s when sin, suffering and sorrow entered the world and it’s been that way ever since. This fulfills the prophecy about end times, where Saint Matthew says there will be famine and pestilences and sufferings.

PS: I hope you are recovered now.

PPS: I hope you are doing well, M-C.

  27. Thanks, Indy. You have a higher threshold than I do at this point in time. I feel so much better now.
