ANDY KAUFMAN WAS JIM CARREY’S INSPIRATION

Jim Carrey did an amazing job of channeling one of our favorite comics, Andy Kaufman, in the biopic Man in the Moon back in 1999. We still have a soft spot for Andy, who graduated from Saturday Night Live to the hit series Taxi and became a genuine celebrity. He died of lung cancer in 1984. We took him out to a Chinese restaurant for lunch once and he was always in character – when he took off his jacket he was wearing shirt cuffs with cufflinks – only the cuffs – with a short sleeve t -shirt. Jim Carrey is currently promoting a documentary, “Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond” all about these two oddball comics. It includes original footage of Andy performing and Carrey onset while filming the movie, and has surprisingly good reviews…

  1. This troll is creepy, we know who you are now Jim Carey. How could you even show your face.

  2. Presumably “Typhoid Mary” was also an influence: considering that Jim apparently passed on Herpes 1, Herpes 2, and gonorrhea to Cathriona White–before she committed suicide.

We have also been a fan, but the texts that were transmitted between Carrey and White were extremely damaging to Carrey’s good guy image. 🙁

  3. Lots of rumors about this one……Nasty behavior, oversized ego, pervy, riddled with sexually transmitted diseases, verbally abusive to women……..a talented actor who seems to need lots therapy.

  4. I didn’t care for Kaufman. I couldn’t stand his weird voice and disliked him on Taxi too.
