For the record, we do NOT believe for one minute that Anne Hathaway wasn’t aware of her fiancee Raffaello Follieri’s financial shenanigans during their time together. NOBODY is that dumb. He was spending money like water with no visible means of support. There were countless accusations and lawsuits against him. Even if he hid all the newspapers in the house, Anne’s friends must have whispered things in her ear a long time ago. But she was in love and didn’t want that lavish lifestyle to end. Anne claimed “The rug was pulled out from under me all of a sudden.” Sorry, we’re not swallowing it, Anne.

I would imagine he had some good stories about where it all was coming from, and if she’s not savvy about business, she’d be easier to convince. If he seemed to be honest and had a story about the money, why should she dig (at least at first)? No one wants to believe the worst about those they love. It seems plausible to me that she could’ve been in the dark about the reality of his situation for quite a while. Obviously she eventually caught on and I bet she’s feeling pretty embarrassed now.
I don’t know if she knew.
Sometimes we are so desperate for a relationship to work out, we ignore all the red flags. Maybe that’s what happened to her.
I hope she meets someone better. It would be almost impossible to meet someone worse!
Read between the lines of what we do know:
Anne Hathaway lured Follieri back to the US, where he was subsequently arrested.
Her only motivation for doing so would be to save her own ass, and her cooperation surely came after prosecutors presented her camp with evidence that she benefitted knowingly from his crimes.
She jumped off the gravy train after having to cover their $37,000 a month a few times. She ended the relationship only after it became clear that Follieri was headed to prison, and thus of no further material use to her.
I totally agree that this greedy little hag new more than she is letting on and I suspect investigators know it too, but in the end it was not her they were after.

She is one of the few young Hollywood ladies, and I mean LADIES who earn that title. She is a CLASS act, and a real beauty, natural, and gorgeous!! No fake boobs, no hair extensions (fake ugly hair) no drunk driving, drugs, spitting outs babies randonmly and then ditching them, or using little dogs as accessories.

If she had knowledge of his illegal business dealings and benefitted from them — as circumstances suggest is the case — then she is liable for prosecution.
If she’d just become a beard for Jake G. when they were working together on BB Mountain, rather than aligning with this italian crook, she would have been much better off.
As it is, Jake G. is tied for life to harridan-in-training Reese Witherspoon, and Anne is now having to spin her story six ways to sunday in order to come off as an unwitting, unquestioning, unknowing innocent.
The timing of her public statements on the matter is not accidental; she waited until Ralph was safely locked away (with no chance of coughing up $21 million bail) before mounting her PR campaign. Follieri is in no position to refute her claims.
And speaking of his enormous bail, it was also reported post arrest, that given the scope of charges, he was looking at 100 (not a typo) years in jail! Fast forward to his very rapid plea deal for 5 (!!!!) years in jail (he’ll be out in 2.5-3), and the whole thing reads even stranger.
Presumably it is Follieri’s dealings with the ultra corrupt catholic church, both in NYC and Rome, that is reason for such unusual goings-on, not to mention his connections to Bill Clinton; “Follow the money,” as the saying goes.
The real story has yet to be told.

I don’t believe that she is guilty of anything suspicious. However while she was dating him, there were many stories in the press of his dodgy dealings. So she must have known – at least – that he was involved in some shady dealings.
I believe that in her case, love is blind. She chose to ignore everything about him.
Vanity Fair have an article on him and on E-News! they reported that Anne’s father had Follieri privately investigated because he had his suspicions about him.
