“ARETHA FRANKLIN IS A HOARDER AND NEEDS AN INTERVENTION!”

A source who visited Aretha Franklin’s home says she needs an intervention! Aretha is a hoarder! “She obviously can’t throw ANYTHING out!” we were told. “When you walk in there’s a little path cleared in the hallway that you can barely get through. Stuff is piled everywhere. Fans send her letters and photos and gifts and she can’t part with any of it. Tables are covered with tchotchkes and stacked with letters and magazines and papers and dishes. Every once in awhile you can see a Grammy poking out of the chaos. She even has stuff piled on the stairs and rarely goes up to the second floor.” Our source added “In spite of the clutter, she’s a very sweet and gracious hostess to all visitors. She may be a diva in the studio, but she’s a sweetheart at home.”

  1. I hope they don’t lift up a pile of clutter and find a dead flattened dried out cat or something!

  2. I smell a new reality show – Celebrity Hoarding. Isn’t Lohan similarly afflicted?

  3. Oooohhh good one dimes. Yes Lohan supposedly is a hoarder too. The problem with hoarding is I never see anyone get better from it even after getting help.

  4. Who cares is Ms. Franklin’s hoarding dead bodies, dead exes, dead weight. She’s earned her right to be a diva cause that woman can sing.

  5. I would think someone of Aretha’s status would have one or more assistants who would organize her fan mail and gifts. It’s sweet that she wants to keep gifts from her fans, but maybe its time to sort/throw/donate some of the stuff.

Anything new on her health or how she’s doing with her weight loss Janet?

  6. @Reta,

LOL!! I couldn’t help but laugh. I did see one of the hoarder tv episodes where there were flatten mice or rats. (The thought brings on nausea.)

    @Dragonfly,

I was just wondering the same thing. At what rate to they get better. It sounds virtually impossble unless they have a therapist.

    @Yoyo,

Me too. I enjoy anything this woman belts out. When you see or hear Aretha sing, it’s an event.

I hope and pray the weight loss isn’t because of the “c word”. I hope it is just weight loss surgery.

  7. Isn’t she suffering from cancer? My guess is her days are numbered, she shouldn’t waste them going through junk.

  8. One huge buffalo. She hasn’t earned anything really,,,,she had her day but it was long long ago.

  9. I heard that delta burke is also a hoarder and she has something like 12 storge spaces filled up.

you might have something there dimes!!

  10. @strom,

I disagree. She has many good days ahead of her.

I would pay to hear this woman sing anything even a kotex commercial jingle. Heck, I would even pay if she want to burp the National Anthem!! 🙂

  11. I’m so very sorry to hear this about the Queen of Soul. But I can believe it. Because hoarding is a complex disorder. And the Queen is a complex lady. I wish her the best….I hope she has true/real friends and family. I suspect she does. (Even though I bet she puts up a FUSS with people who try to help.)

  12. Yes I Think it is great that she keeps letters from her fans and that she really cares but to keep buying more and more stuff is crazy but lets face facts when you have millions you can buy anything you want!!! And sometimes people just get carried away and some times you think about all the money you spent on those items and can’t seem to part with anything but if it is taking up space in your house and you don’t have any room to move it becomes a problem and if there are things you simply never use!!!It is better to donate for tax reasons and get the I.R.S. off your back and that way you don’t have to work so hard in the future but if you keep records of donating to homeless shelters and or Good Will or other locations…It would do two things for you and that is to make your place have more space and your helping some one at the same time and it is also keeping the I.R.S. off your back and so there are 3 reason it would help her but as far as Books and or other items you can sale for cash at 2nd hand book stores and get back some of your money and if there is a will…There is away and I really love Mrs Franklin and she should get those notes and send them back to the people who wrote the letters along with an Autograph of hers and that way she is giving a gift back to each person and that would be a wonderful gift to do that and this idea is letting every one who ever wrote her…That she cared to hold on to the letter for years and that means mailing them there letter back and there fore making space for her home again and she can sign 20 letters aday and have there letters sent back to them and that would be a real great gift to all the letter people.

  13. Aretha is known for celebrating her birthday, big time every year and for years she has held private parties in her home in Bloomfield, Michigan. If Aretha was a hoarder,No one would wait until she became 69 years old to reveal it.I still have my 2 autographed pictures of Ms. Franklin that was presented to me back in 1976. No other details are Needed, but I will say that I was in the audience back in May of 1989 and was gloriously entertained at Caesar’s in Atlantic City by none other than Aretha. I believe that the air conditioning was bothering her throat, she left the stage for a few minutes and came back wearing a beautiful long white (large collared) fur coat. When Aretha came back on that stage, she told us (her audience) that when she was leaving, she heard someone in the audience ask “if that was the end of the show, was Aretha leaving”? She told us that she knew that we paid good money to see her,and wanted us to enjoy the show, and then she asked if we liked surprises. She stated that she loved surprises, and then she introduced us to her “special guest singing sensation Peabo Bryson”. One of the songs that Aretha performed with Peabo was “Through the Storm” a duet that she had recently recorded with another superstar “Sir Elton John”. Now, I do Not know if Aretha Franklin is a hoarder, but I will admit that I am a hoarder of most of her music including 45’s and LP’s from back in the day.Yes Indeed, I am very much a hoarder of my 2 autographs of Miss Aretha. This may be a new “invented rumor” about Aretha being a hoarder, but I can overlook that knowing that The Queen of Soul has shed over 85 pounds and is featured on the cover of May the 2nd 2011 People Magazine. She says that she “feels fabulous”, and Nowhere between the pages of 58-63 does it say anything about Aretha being a hoarder.
    P.S.
While the Chain of Fools invent New stories about this 69 year old woman who’s signature song has always been about RESPECT, I believe that Aretha will continue to Rock Steady. PEACE,LOVE AND UNDERSTANDING!!

  14. Hey Leo!!!

Where have you been???!!! I keep missing you!!

2 autographed pictures? I am beyond jealous! There is something grand and spiritual that happens when that incredible lady opens her mouth to sing. I remember coming back from a friends funeral in the early 70’s and hearing her sing Amazing Grace. I had to pull off the road to gain my composure. She such a powerful voice and I believe she is a good woman with a big heart.

  15. @ Walt:
This is my month to celebrate!!
    Yes!!
    The whole month, I celebrate.
From the 1st through the 31st.
    My motto:
I know how many years, I have behind me, but I do Not know how many years I have ahead of me, so Yes, I enjoy every day, especially everyday
    during the month of July.
CELEBRATE GOOD TIMES, LEARN SOMETHING FROM EVERYBODY THAT YOU COME INTO CONTACT WITH, LIVE TO ENJOY THE LOVE AND THE LAUGHTER!!

  16. @Leo,

Enjoy!!!! Get out and live it up!!!

Good for you!!! I try to do similar. I’ve had a wonderful life and hope I have many more years to come. Hope you do too!!!!

Is your b-day in July??? Mine is in August. ( I am a Leo. 🙂 )

  17. Strom is still a racist, closeted gay BITCH

Miss Franklin can do as she fucking pleases as she has cancer and not long to live!!!!!!!!!!

  18. @ Palermo:
    Thank you!!
You are absolutely right,it is Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.
    @ Walt:
I try Not to advertise it,but I am a July baby and I have been celebrating since the 1st Friday of the month.
I am from that old school of N’Joying and doing something different each day up to the 31st. There is No shame in my game when it comes to N’Joying the whole month, the way that some people shop and celebrate the whole month of Christmas, and beyond. Went to see The Zookeeper on Tuesday, didn’t eat any popcorn but did N’Joy my Cape Cod Potato Chips. If you get a chance, please consider seeing The Zookeeper on the Big Screen. The voice of Sly Stallone as the Lion, and Cher as the Lioness is a must-hear. Adam Sandler did the voice of the monkey (think Hangover II).
At the end of the movie, seeing the animals doing the voice overs singing “Oh! What a Feeling” is worth the price of admission. Earlier this evening I stopped over to SONIC
for their chocolate sundae and heard Aretha’s “You make me feel like a Natural Woman” while enjoying my treat. Later,in the car, I got taken back to the mid 70’s listening to “Baby Come Back” by Player. You know the bass player of that group Ronn Moss has been on the daytime soap The Bold and The Beautiful for years as Ridge Forrester. Earlier today, I saw the movie The Fantastic Mr. Fox (with the voices of George Clooney and Meryl Streep) on TV. I wish that I had seen it on the big screen, but it was another one of my pleasures for today. In every day and in every way, I constantly feel blessed.
    P.S.
Sunday Night I turned in early without checking out the winning pick 4’s. Monday morning before looking at the Newspaper, I go to my faithful lottery site and my lucky #’s jumped off the screen at me. 7770. How lucky can you get, I didn’t lose any sleep from excitement, but woke up a Winner!!

  19. yep, raised in a “Strong” city, folks.
    …………..DETROIT THAT IS!!

  20. i’m willing to give this gal a pass, if indeed true.

  21. It’s for sure Aretha has some great stuff horded away, unlike my grandmother who liked ordinary things like empty container with lids to re-use later.. not on my peanut-butter

  22. The drinks are on Leo!

dee cee, the story of your grandmother made me remember my Dad saving jars with lids. He’d nail the jar to the rafters in the ceiling of the basement, store nails, etc. and screw the jar back on. He always knew where everything was and they were out of the way.

    Damn I miss that guy.

  23. @ Denise:
You should have told me earlier about the drinks. I went to a Dockside Seafood Restaurant this evening.
    @ Walt:
    Are you listening??
    Seafood Platter with broiled fish,scallops,
shrimps and a killer crabcake(no filler)112% crabMeat with a vegetable medley of broccoli, carrots, cabbage and zucchini, red potatoes. The horseradish in the cocktail sauce was potent, you know like clear your eyes, clear your mind potent. I started out with a (virgin)daiquiri and ended with a slice of (warmed)rocky road cake.
By the way, the other day I made the mistake of saying that the song from The Zookeeper was Oh! What a Feeling, let me be the first to stand corrected and mention that the song is “More than a feeling” by Boston. I heard it in the car on the way home. Earlier today I went to a Yard Sale,No I didn’t buy a lawn mower or a garden hose, but I did find some Nice glassware, wall plagues, and my fill of music, including LP’s of The Eagles, Jim Croce, Prince,KC and The Sunshine Band,Lionel Richie, remember Disco Inferno?? The 4 Tops,Alabama,Foreigner, for less than a bowl of chicken Noodle soup and 45’s at 10 cent each. I did Not pretend to have any class I went back and cleaned up on old music.
Back to the topic of conversation,I am a diehard Aretha Franklin fan and if Aretha is a hoarder, that is her business!!

  24. For clarification purposes:
I may Need to stand corrected,
Is there an s when there are more than 1 shrimp??

  25. I just love the comments on this site! Thank you all for being so funny and entertaining!
So sad about Aretha, watching hoarders always makes me clean my house!

  26. @Leo, Sounds like good eats.
Haven’t heard from Walt for a while.
