AUSTRALIA IS ALL ABOUT HUGH JACKMAN'S PHYSIQUE

Australia cut(2008)03.jpg
SOMEBODY’S in love with Hugh Jackman and if we didn’t know better we’d guess it was “Australia” director Baz Luhrmann. This is the first movie we’ve seen in which the leading MAN’s clothes were tighter than the leading lady’s. Hugh is lovingly photographed throughout the movie and when he has a shirt on, it’s SKIN TIGHT. Not to mention his pants. How a cowboy could possibly function in such attire without splitting a seam is never explained. Unfortunately, this added yet another element of artificiality to this fantasy/drama. The title “Australia” implies a historical epic of grand proportion and we were disappointed that it turned out to be just a contrived love story.

  1. Baz is no fool. He knew better than to focus on Nicole if he wanted to put asses in theater seats.

  2. Nicole…6 foot, 100 pounds, a fragile bore.
The movie: A long no-win extravaganza.
Hugh Jack’s Off: No way the handsomest man alive.
Hugh’s balls: “We’re smothering, we need air”

  3. This is one to be missed. Hugh is beautiful, but boring. And Nicole is well past her prime — in terms of looks and acting ability.
If you want to see her at her best, find “Malice,” in which she is freckled, auburn-haired and practically voluptuous. It may be the most nudity she’s done in her career, and boy did she have the rear end for it! Perfect.
Bonus: Alec Baldwin (pre-Jabba phase), who looks good enough to eat…
Double Bonus: Gywneth Paltrow (in a bit part) *****SPOILER ALERT****gets killed.

  4. ^^^^
Almost forgot: The late, great Anne Bancroft almost walks away with this very entertaining film.

  5. He is not believable in macho roles.
SHe is as boring as garner but more famous for being cruise ex.
    The movie will flop.

  6. Janet, their are rumours out there that Hugh Jack Man is a closeted and bearded homosexual. Do you know anything about this?

  7. Nicole has bleached away and frozen out every ounce of her once considerable sex appeal.

  8. Well, I saw the movie last night at midnight and thought it was great. There are a lot of problems with the editing. Too long. But there is chemistry between Jackman and Kidman. It is a romance rather than a sweeping epic of Australia. But for those of you ragging on Kidman–that is hardly her fault since Baz was in charge of the script, the editing and the final cut.
I’d see it again and again! It was visually stunning, the acting was good, and the story was a fantasy, but okay.
If you let your prejudices lead you through life you sometimes miss a jewel like this. A jewel in the raw, but nevertheless, Luhrman tried to recreate a Gone with the Wind, which is something very few directors have tried to do–the sweeping epic.

  9. I’ve never seen a cowboy type movie where the leading lady wears her blouse unbuttoned like that.

  10. Hugh is patting her on the head much like the way one would pat a horse.

  11. As far as Nicole is concerned, this could just as easily have been a still from the “The Stepford Wives,” or “The Invasion.”

  12. I have never seen a good movie starring Nicole. Plus, now that her lips have been plumped and she insists on wearing bright red lipstick, she is more un-appealing than ever. She was on Regis and Kelly Live and when she turned sideways she looked like maybe 100 pounds. This movie will not go down in history as one of the great ones.

  13. A friend of mine who listened to several production podcasts, said they designed various pairs of pants for Jackman. Some were tighter than others. One style was specificially created for horseback.
