BOBBY VEE: THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES

Love this photo of the late Bobby Vee and The Crickets – presumably taken after the death of Buddy Holly, whom Bobby idolized. Years ago we owned a vintage Scopitone (a video juke box) and we probably played Bobby’s song The Night Has a Thousand Eyes over a thousand times. The amateur video features girls in bikinis twisting frantically at a beach party. His song Come Back When You Grow Up Girl always makes us think of back when we were in 8th or 9th grade walking home from school. High school boys old enough to drive would pull over and toss a coin out the window saying “Here’s a dime – call me in two years!”
Here’s the Scopitone video:

This was a couple of years before my time. I am surprised at the content. It was kinda erotic. All that bikini shaking, hip poppin’ and knees spreading action. Even the dudes.

TY for sharing i totally forgot about these videos until you brought them here for our viewing. A flood of memories came rushing back. We thought the girls were so glamorous; I especially loved the blond dancer with the updo and a pony sticking out of it. Like the PP said, it’s more raunchy then one expects??? Funny as a kid all I wanted to do was get up and wiggle like them.

  • Blind Item: America’s Sweetheart Battling A Drug Addiction?
    |

    BLIND_ITEM_NEW_#CUT

One of America’s Sweethearts is battling a serious drug addiction- not hers, but her best friend’s. Through the years these two have been stuck to one another like white on rice and her fame rubbed off on her pal. They’ve been roomies, have worked together on set, and even launched a business venture together. But all that success has come with a price. After years of being sober, the less famous friend has fallen HARD off the wagon and our gal doesn’t know what to do. She’s hosted an intervention, hired an addiction specialist, and even threatened to end the friendship, but nothing seems to work. What’s a girl to do?
