We were floored to hear that John Travolta is first choice to play the “Dapper Don,” John Gotti Sr, in the story of his life. The film’s executive producer Marc Fiore and John Gotti Jr, along with director Nick Cassavetes, met with Travolta at an Italian restaurant in LA to discuss the deal. Junior Gotti wants John to play his father and he’d like James Franco to play himself! (Imagine THAT ego!) We had no idea that Junior Gotti was so open minded – he has no objection to casting a Scientologist of questionable sexual preference to play his legendary mobster father! And WHO will play Victoria Gotti – Charlize Theron?

Interesting, and I think good choices actually, Travolta and Franco both. Between Gotti’s roots as a native NY’er and his own family’s dubious history, I don’t understand why his lack of bias and prejudice comes as a surprise though. Being originally from there myself, I’d describe it as normal clear minded thinking rather than open minded.
Oh and I almost forgot.. Travolta shares Gotti’s roots too. Travolta was born and raised in Englewood, New Jersey, an inner-ring suburb of New York City.

Watching J. Revolting play Gotti would be a scream and so laughable. Who could possibly take it serious. Anyone who has not been living in a cave has read he is a flaming qu**r. Travolta has already played mobster type characters in two very successful and critically acclaimed movies – Pulp Fiction and Get Shorty.

Nice to FINALLY see some people here who don’t give a shit about anybodies sexual preferences. The man is an ACTOR. He would be hired to play a known character and apparently the powers that be think he comes closest to the fit they need/want. Time will tell. I know JT WAS great in Pulp Fiction (I think his best role ever) and I also loved him in Michael where he played an unusual angel.
Why any of us have any interest in his sexuality or religion confounds the hell out of me. Imagine if it were YOU and people were battling YOU about who you love or screw and how you worship or what? There are far too many differences in people all around the world and people in general need to come to terms with the idea and accept that. It’s not going away so settle down.

Travolta was great in “Get Shorty” — and he also did a wonderful job as a Bill Clinton type presidential candidate in “Primary Colors.” I was pretty amazed at how great he was in both roles… 🙂
If Travoltas is in the movie, it will flop. Travolta hasn’t made a decent movie in 15 years. His participation in the movie guarantees it will suck, just like he does.

I think Travolta would be great in this role….he played a mobster in Pulp Fiction and was fantastic in that movie. One of the best movies ever.

Good luck with finding the right guy but I really don’t think a movie star should play this part…I feel if you let a movie star take this part the movie is going to Bomb on so many levels.
I Think some one younger needs to play the part and they need to have passion and…Soul and it should not be a movie star playing this part and it should be some one who is the same height and weight as the man who lived that life?
