Mariah Carey was NOT happy when her manager Benny Medina took on Jennifer Lopez as a client, so naturally she fired him. TWO divas are too many. Anyway, Benny had served his purpose – he orchestrated Mariah’s successful comeback and hit album. Comebacks are what he does best and Jennifer needs one now. Mariah wants her new husband Nick Cannon to take over the job of managing her. She trusts his advice and he’s been doing more and more of her management as time goes on. Mariah’s friends are a bit worried that this might be TOO much togetherness for the happily married pair.
I think Mariah may need to hire Benny back pretty soon because her CD is a bit of a flop with only one single “Touch My Boody” that performed well and the CD sunk like a rock on the charts.

Why do these idiots always turn to a family member–mother, father, hubby– to be their manager? These people are dealing with SHARKS. Mommy/daddy/hubby are untrained, and they can never hope to negotiate the package the star could have gotten with a trained professional.

I think Mariah Carey dislikes Jennifer Lopez because Tommy Matolla was involved in Lopez’s career at one point.
MC had a little snit fit when a recording she wanted to sample for one of her projects was deliberately snatched (Tommy Matolla) for a JL project.
The funny thing about this item is that it’s a lose/lose situation for Nick Cannon.
If he successfully manages his bride’s career, she will soon complain about being stifled.
If her careers falls apart, he will be blamed for that too.

Family management works really well for Beyonce and Usher. I could work for Mariah. She certainly can take her image in a new direction and Nick is young and fresh, not old like Benny.
