KATHERINE HEIGL GETS ALONG WITH ANIMALS

How bad can a person be who really loves animals? Katherine Heigl has earned quite a diva reputation for herself in Hollywood but maybe she’s not all that bad. It started when Heigl remarked that her hit movie “Knocked Up” was “sexist.” She was absolutely RIGHT- the movie was absurdly sexist. Can you imagine a woman like Heigl becoming obsessed with costar Seth Rogan’s loser character in real life? Not likely. But Seth Rogan took offense and badmouthed her on Howard Stern, which started the ball rolling. Her Grey’s Anatomy problems enhanced her bad rep. We heard that her manager/mother Nancy was actually the difficult and demanding one, but who knows. Her mother WAS with her at the animal fundraising event above.

JENNIFER LEE PRYOR PROTECTS HER EX-HUSBAND AND ANIMALS TOO

Richard Pryor’s wife Jennifer Lee Pryor took a lot of flak in his final years while she was caring for the comic suffering from MS. Before he died in 2005, Richard said he wanted actor Mike Epps to portray him in his life story. Lee Daniels just cast Mike in the leading role of his upcoming movie about Pryor’s life. Mike met with Jennifer (above) to get her blessing for the project. We were happy to see that Jennifer is doing more than protecting Richard’s legacy – according to the LA Times, she is very active in animal rescue. When she heard about a homeless man on skid row who bred his pit bull and was caring for her and ten puppies on the street, she was appalled. Multiple observers reported him to the police but they did nothing to enforce animal protection laws. Jennifer investigated and with the help of other activists, did the right thing. The dogs were put in a shelter and the man happened to be arrested for drugs the next day, and sentenced to a year in rehab. With his permission the dogs are up for adoption. No thanks to the LAPD.

As if we didn’t have enough reasons to dislike Teresa Giudice’s disreputable husband Joe, now it appears he’s not only a convicted felon facing prison and deportation, but he also abuses animals. Animal advocates have pointed out to RadarOnline that Joe has two German Shepherds that he keeps in cages outside, even in the coldest weather. And when Joe appears, they cower in fear, implying that he mistreats them. The dogs somehow killed and ate two chickens that Joe kept in a chicken coop right next to their cages. Activists say Joe is not only irresponsible and thoughtless when taking care of his animals, but he teaches his children to be the same way. Italy can have him back!

DOG TORTURER MICHAEL VICK IS BACK, FEELING SORRY FOR HIMSELF

Whatever you do, DON’T BUY Michael Vick’s new biography (we’re not even going to reveal the title.) He’s cashing in on the fact that he spent 19 months in prison for promoting dog fighting, and looking for sympathy. This man has NEVER expressed sorrow or regret for the dogs he destroyed and tortured with such enthusiasm. He shrugs “I was naïve to the consequences.” Translation: “If I had known I could be put in jail I wouldn’t have done it.” And he says the worst part of the whole dog fighting ordeal was his embarrassment when he had to tell his seven year old son he was going to jail. Naturally he does volunteer work for The Humane Society now to try and make us like him again – not because he really cares about animals. Nike may have rehired Vick, but deliberate, sadistic cruelty to animals is a crime we will never forgive or understand.

All-American Muslim Animal Rights Dogs

ALL-AMERICAN MUSLIMS DON’T KNOW HOW TO TREAT THEIR DOGS

TLC’s reality series All-American Muslim got a whole lot of favorable attention when Lowe’s pulled their ads from the show. Lowe’s is being slammed right and left for the move and they will certainly live to regret it. Meanwhile, the Muslims freaked out their own viewers and lost their acquired good will due to an act of animal cruelty in episode 4. One of the show’s stars Shadia Amen outraged animal lovers when she heartlessly gave away her husband’s 10 year old dog because of her allergies. Americans love their dogs and this is an act not to be tolerated. According to The Hollywood Reporter, TLC is getting plenty of flak and Muslims aren’t looking so all-American. (Personally, we grind our teeth every time we see a woman in a head wrap or burka because she is obviously accepting the notion that she is a second class citizen.)

MICHAEL VICK IS OFFICIALLY THE MOST DISLIKED PLAYER IN THE NFL – AND ELSEWHERE

If footballer Michael Vick, 31, thought it would be easy to get back in the public’s good graces after he served time for illegal dog fighting, he underestimated the memories of animal lovers. We haven’t forgotten those scarred and tortured dogs. Happily, Vick has been voted Most Disliked player in the NFL by sports fans. 60% of all NFL fans polled by Nielsen dislike Vick. To be exact – 70% of the women and 50% of the men named him least liked player. Public opinion has made Vick less likely to land any important endorsement deals – even Nike doesn’t use him as a pitchman. And that’s the way it should be.

NIKE THINKS MICHAEL VICK’S CRIMES ARE NO BIG DEAL- THEY HIRED HIM AGAIN

What’s WRONG with these Nike people? The company just resigned animal torturer Michael Vick as their spokesperson. He’ll design a line of shoes for them and earn millions of dollars. Back in 2007, Nike dumped Vick after he was convicted of participating in a dogfighting ring and animal cruelty. Now the Nike rep says “Michael acknowledges his past mistakes?” Is THAT all it takes? What Nike may not know is that SOME CRIMES ARE UNFORGIVABLE. Should child molesters, rapists, wife beaters, etc, be given a pass if they “acknowledge” their crimes? Has Nike seen photos of the dogs he destroyed? We consumers who love our pets never want to see Michael Vick’s face again. We can live with Tiger Woods’ bad behavior, but Michael Vick just oozes evil. Nike will never look the same to us.

ALEC BALDWIN HAS COME A LONG WAY SINCE THE “HORSE INCIDENT”

Alec Baldwin doesn’t look at all bothered by the fact that this equestrian act from the Big Apple Circus appeared on the Letterman show with him. When he was still married to his animal activist wife Kim Basinger, he didn’t think animals should be used for entertainment and he testified to the city council that the use of carriage horses in the park should be banned. Nowadays, he appears a lot more tolerant.

KEN WAHL THINKS THE PUNISHMENT SHOULD FIT THE CRIME

We’ve been fans of Ken Wahl since “The Wanderers.” His back injury and retirement from acting was a great loss (he was the Rob Pattinson of the late 80’s early 90’s.) But at least he’s not wasting his time. Nowadays Ken and his wife, pinup girl Shane Barbi, are animal activists and they foster homeless pets. Not long ago, a cat named Timothy was found glued to a Minnesota highway. The cat was rescued but eventually died. Ken was SO outraged when he heard the story that he reportedly picked up his Golden Globe (he won it for “Wiseguy”) and said he’d like to use it to beat the guy who committed that loathsome crime. Now he’s decided to DONATE the Globe toward the $10,000 reward being offered for this animal abuser. Unfortunately, the crime is only a misdemeanor in Minnesota. The long term motive of Ken and Shane is to improve animal protection laws and make sure these sicko abusers are slapped with criminal records.

BRIGITTE BARDOT IS STILL PLEADING WITH SOPHIA LOREN TO DITCH THE FURS

Brigitte Bardot turned 75 and told London’s Daily Mail that what she REALLY wants for her birthday is for Sophia Loren, also 75, to stop wearing fur. The two actresses were both sexy icons in the swinging sixties. Bardot retired at 39 in 1973 and became a reclusive animal activist, while Loren continued to act and raised a family. In the 90’s Bardot publicly scolded Sophia for posing for fur ads but never got a response.
