MEMORIES OF ANNA NICOLE SMITH ON THE MENU FOR FRIDAY

Here’s a strange premise for a 2 hour TV special: (but it DID arouse our curiosity) On Friday ABC’s 20-20 is presenting “Tragic Beauty” in recognition of the death of Anna Nicole Smith on February 8, 2007, at the age of 39. She died 14 years ago and now the child she had who never knew her, fourteen year old Dannielynn Birkhead, is learning about her mother’s life. Dannielynn’s father Larry Birkhead takes her to Anna’s childhood home in Texas and places her mother frequented. They talk to Anna’s friends and dig through stored memorabilia of Anna’s. The most interesting part seems to be that Dannielynn is growing up and starting to resemble her mother.

KATE UPTON: THE GIRL CAN’T HELP IT

Kate Upton was just snubbed by the fashion industry – in spite of her incredible popularity she was not named among the 500 Most Influential People in Fashion while less famous models were included. When we heard, it immediately brought to mind Anna Nicole Smith who became famous overnight for her Guess ads and incredible beauty. She, too, was voluptuous and not a typical skinny model. Like Anna, Kate is more of a personable pin-up girl than a clothes hanger. If the fashion industry snubs Kate, we think Hollywood will be glad to have her. Kate’s third movie, The Other Woman, will be released next year.

We have yet to see a photo of Anna Nicole Smith’s little girl Dannielynn Birkhead in which she seemed like an average little girl. The five year old appearss to become more spectacular to look at every year. Above, she’s at the Kentucky Derby with dad. It’s apparent that Anna Nicole selected the right guy to father her child – if you recall, Anna’s lawyer Howard K Stern and Prince Frederic von Anhalt both claimed paternity. Larry Birkhead has assumed the role of single father quite comfortably.

Anna Nicole Smith’s little girl Dannielynn is five years old now and she seems to get prettier every day. Will she have an awkward phase? Her dad Larry Birkhead is carrying her backpack and papers as they leave school. Since Dannielynn won’t be inheriting any money from the Marshall family fortune (Anna Nicole wed the billionaire J Howard Marshall briefly before he died.) She may grow up to have fewer designer handbags, but a more normal life. Larry’s probably not too happy about it, though.

Whether Hef will really go on with a wedding remains to be seen, but that ring bought him the attentive company of Crystal Harris for the time being. Hef just wants to have fun and enjoy his money in his declining years. And why shouldn’t he? He worked for it. Crystal Harris knows she will never have to worry about money again. Two happy people. What’s the big deal?

Larry Birkhead put some of Anna Nicole Smith’s possessions up for auction in New York for charity to help pay for Dannielynn’s private school. Among the collectibles being auctioned off at Julien’s Auctions summer series are costumes, a decorated lavender bra, her pink golf bag and clubs, a Warhol style portrait of her husband J Howard Marshall, and a fox fur coat Marshall gave her but she never wore due to her support for (or fear OF) PETA. There’s a lot more where these things came from, but it brings up the question: Is Larry running low on money?

Here’s something you don’t see in West Hollywood very often. It’s Bobby Trendy – of Anna Nicole Smith fame – without a dab of lipgloss and nary a rhinestone in sight! He looks like a total boy! Apparently he was running to the convenience store Famima (which is a great place, by the way) to pick up a few necessities and was surprised by a photographer. Ever the pro, he smiled for the camera.
