SAM WORTHINGTON: KING OF THE BOXOFFICE DIDN’T SCORE AT TROUSDALE
Filed Under: Avatar > Sam Worthington

“Avatar” and “Clash of the Titans” have made Sam Worthington king of the boxoffice, but he still looks like a very ordinary guy off-camera. (Did you know he was living out of his car when he signed up for “Avatar?”) He left Trousdale last night looking like he did some hard partying – oddly enough, he left alone. (Wonder who’s wearing those sexy flesh colored shoes behind him)

AVATAR’S SAM WORTHINGTON DOESN’T OFTEN CAUSE A STIR

Sam Worthington was sexy and gorgeous onscreen in “Avatar,” but in real life he seems to disappear into the woodwork. In person, and even in photos, the Australian actor looks more like a very average person than a movie star. We’re not certain we’d recognize him if he was walking down the street. But Sam DOES have his admirers- Avatar fans mobbed him at LAX. We wonder if he’ll ever have the paparazzi frenzy that Leonardo DiCaprio had after “Titanic.”

SACHA BARON COHENS HUMOR WAS NOT APPRECIATED BY SERIOUS OSCAR PRODUCERS
Filed Under: Avatar > James Cameron > Oscars > Sacha Baron Cohen
We were SO looking forward to seeing Sacha Baron Cohen pull some sort of stunt and liven up the Oscars, but as you know, he was cut loose at the last minute because producers fear that Avatar director James Cameron has no sense of humor. Cohen had planned a skit with Ben Stiller where Sacha would be dressed up as a blue female Na’vi and Ben would “translate” her speech. The translation would have become more and more heated and finally the Na’vi would reveal that she was pregnant with Cameron’s child. This was supposed to lead to a hilarious Jerry Springer style surprise confrontation with Cameron. Producers were afraid that Cameron, instead of laughing, might actually walk OUT, since he is renowned for having highly publicized romances with his leading ladies. It might have been the funniest moment of the show…..

MICHELLE RODRIGUEZ: SOMETHING FOR THE GIRLS
Filed Under: Avatar > Michelle Rodriguez

Michelle Rodriguez visited a doctor’s office in Beverly Hills yesterday. Her excellent turn as the savvy helicopter pilot in Avatar will type cast her in a good way as a resilient, tomboyish take-charge kind of female with a good heart. She can make a good living and have a long career playing those roles, and she won’t have to constantly worry about looking perfect.

VANITY FAIR’S UNMISTAKABLE OVERSIGHT
Filed Under: Avatar > Vanity Fair > Zoe Saldana
Vanity Fair’s all white young Hollywood cover is all the more perplexing because they overlooked the young star of the biggest boxoffice movie of all time: Avatar. What genuis at that magazine failed to recognize the explosive success and laudable efforts of beautiful Zoe Saldana? She seems like the most obvious choice of all.

DEAR JOHN KNOCKED AVATAR OFF THE TOP
Filed Under: Amanda Seyfried > Avatar > Boxoffice > Channing Tatum > Dear John > Movies
“Dear John” was number one at the box office this weekend – and ousting ”Avatar” is quite an accomplishment. Of course, it’s possible that lots of women went to see Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried while their boyfriends and husbands watched Super Bowl football, but the timing for a love story was definitely right.

ZOE SALDANA IS RETURNING TO PANDORA
Filed Under: Avatar > Zoe Saldana

We wish that adorable Zoe Saldana, who starred in “Avatar,” the highest grossing movie of all time, had gotten some award nominations. Her appealing character was the heart of the movie and she doesn’t get enough credit. Zoe will appear in the upcoming sequal, which we look forward to seeing NOT in 3D. Personally, we weren’t so crazy about the 3D – it seemed to drain away much of the color and clarity of the movie.
