Ashlee Simpson was painfully disappointed over leaving Melrose Place so abruptly, but she bounced right back by signing up to reprise her Roxie Hart role in “Chicago” on Broadway. That’s explains the black dye job. Ashlee and Pete Wentz brought their baby Bronx to the CVS pharmacy and bought him this red truck that has him filled with delight.

Mark Wahlberg always has that scowl on his face, but he’s GOT to be more fun than he looks. He’s filming in NYC and speaking freely about the 4th baby that his new wife Rhea Durham is expecting. They’re having another girl so the family is balanced with two girls and two boys. And despite multiple births, Rhea still looks like a supermodel. Although Mark came from a family of 9, he says 4 are enough, because he wants each of his kids to have plenty of attention.

Okay, so Colin Farrell has finally acknowledged that he and his girlfriend, Polish actress Alicja Bachleda, welcomed a son, Henry, on October 7. (Alicja was his costar in “Ondine.”) Alicja gave birth in Los Angeles and Colin was just seen at the Michael Jackson “This Is It” premier with another attractive girl. Dos that mean Colin and Alicja are already on the outs? Colin and his last baby mama, model Kim Bordenave, split up not long after their son James, 6, was born, although he remained an active father. Parenthood seems to agree with Colin more than long term relationships.

Longtime buddies Jude Law and “Eli Stone” star Jonny Lee Miller are having a laugh in the West Village – and maybe comparing notes on fatherhood. Jonny’s son Buster is ten months old and Jude is expecting baby #4 with actress/model Samantha Burke. The difference is that Jonny is married to Buster’s mom Michele Hicks, and Jude had a brief fling with Burke which resulted in her pregnancy. Samantha Burke is currently considering selling her fling story to the media for $200,000. Both dads are in rehearsal for shows opening soon on Broadway.

What ever possessed Joel Madden and Nicole Richie to name their newborn SON “Sparrow.” This isn’t even funny. Their daughter Harlow at least has a name with some glamour and it’s sex appropriate. What boy wants to be called a Sparrow? A tiny fragile bird! Imagine the taunts in the schoolyard. The poor kid will probably grow up to be a tattooed bodybuilder to prove his manhood. It reminds us of the Johnny Cash song “A Boy Named Sue” –“if a man’s named Sue, he’s gotta be tough.”

We were RIGHT when we assumed “Grey’s Anatomy” star Katherine Heigl might be expecting because of 3 observations in a recent photo. She was sucking on a lollipop instead of smoking, she wore a loose dress, and she and her husband Josh Kelley were in a baby store purchasing a stroller. The twist is that she’s adopting! Katherine and Josh are expecting a little girl from Korea this week whom they’ve already named Leigh. Katherine has always liked kids better than she liked the idea of being pregnant. Hopefully she’s stocked up on lollipops to avoid second hand smoke.

CELINE DION’S BABY (HOPEFULLY A GIRL) IS DUE IN NINE MONTHS

When word got out that Celine Dion, 41, was pregnant from an in vitro fertilization procedure, her doctor said she was “very, very early” into her pregnancy. Celine had an embryo implanted that she had frozen eight years ago when attempting to get pregnant with her son Rene-Charles. This week the New York Post revealed that Celine’s spokesperson Muriel Blondeau disclosed that Celine is due to give birth next MAY. That’s over NINE MONTHS from now. The doc wasn’t kidding when he said she just got the good news. Judging by her son’s hair, we’re guessing Celine is hoping for a daughter.

We are totally amused by this 25 year old Norwegian, Omar Bhatti, who claims to be Michael Jackson’s illegitimate son. Omer, a dancer, was noticed in the front row at Michael’s memorial service because he apparently had a long acquaintance with Michael. Here’s the absurd part: Omer’s Norwegian mother Pia Bhatti ,45, claims Omer is the result of a ONE NIGHT STAND she had with Michael! As IF! To add to the insanity, Jermaine Jackson has said with a straight face ”If Omer is his son – we won’t deny it!” (The family REALLY hopes Michael was straight) Please note that Omer DID inherit Michael’s surgically created chin cleft! Judging by his age, we’re betting Omer is one of those little boys that Michael had a close “friendship” with – before the pesky legal problems started.

While Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick’s surrogate twin girls are percolating back in Ohio, we’re relieved that rumors about their marriage dissolving appear to be untrue. They’ve always seemed like a sweet couple. “Two And A Half Men” star Charlie Sheen looked like the cat that swallowed the canary when he went to St Johns hospital to visit his wife Brooke, who just gave birth to their twin sons, refreshingly named Bob and Max. He even buried the hatchet and invited his exwife Denise Richards to pay a visit because their daughters are eager to meet their new half-brothers. Charlie has two daughters with Denise and one from an earlier relationship. Note – he’s carrying a Prada bag. Probably make up for Brooke so she’ll look pretty for her departure.

The baby proved to be his and they’ve been fighting over money ever since. Eddie and Mel are equally unsympathetic characters. Maybe she did trap him, but he COULD have used a condom. Certainly Mel’s unemployed husband Stephen “Belafonte” will be delighted with this news.

THE OCTUPLET MOM IS NEGOTIATING MONEY DEALS

The “miracle birth” of octuplets has officially gone sour. Nadya Suleman’s eight babies were regarded with awe when the births were first announced, but the story of her private life has turned the public against her. The public was horrified to learn that this woman already had six children (including one autistic son) thanks to fertilization. They were further appalled to learn that Nadya reportedly worked at a fertilization clinic and chose to risk the health of her babies by refusing selective reduction. The legal and ethic ramifications for the doctors involved are staggering and what must the reluctant sperm donor, identified as David Solomon, be thinking? The premature babies are expected to rack up two million dollars in hospital bills before they are released, and millions later to treat expected health problems and possible handicaps. Since Nadia, 33, is a professional student, she lives with her parents – that’s three adults and 14 children in a three bedroom house. So Nadya is trying to drum up money by selling her story – so far Oprah and Diane Sawyer are eager to interview her. Will diaper companies donate the thousand diapers a month needed for these babies? Americans seem to have turned on this woman and assume she’s out of her mind. But we do have a twisted fascination for the details, so she probably will make a lot of money with those babies.

It looks like those silly gossip magazines are going to have to stop asking in headlines “What’s WRONG with The Twins?” Since Brad and Angelina’s babies haven’t been seen a lot since they were born, mags were drumming up stories that the kids were defective in some way. But Brad and Angelina were just spotted at the airport in Japan – each with a twin strapped to the chest and holding hands with two children each. As we can see, the 6 month old twins Knox and Vivienne appear healthy and adorable. And Knox looks like a miniature Brad.
