BARBRA STREISAND’S MORAL DILEMMA

Since Variety spilled the beans that Barbra Streisand had her beloved dog Samantha cloned, it’s been the talk of dog-lovers. You can’t blame Barbra for loving her Coton de Tulear so much that she had her cloned – twice. Every dog owner knows the agonizing heartbreak when the animal they’ve spent so many years living with, inevitably dies. Cloning seems like a good idea if you have an extra fifty to a hundred thousand dollars. But, as animal activists point out – the clone may LOOK the same, but the dogs are NOT likely to have the same personality. Even Barbra admits her dogs don’t behave like Samantha. So maybe it’s not really such a great idea…

BARBRA STREISAND LEARNED A LESSON IN HOLLYWOOD

Barbra Streisand and James Brolin were photographed partying with a group of friends in Portofino Italy. It’s hard to believe it, but they’ve been married for 19 years – and they still seem quite affectionate. Barbra directed three films in Hollywood and she says the experience made her acutely aware of gender discrimination. Critics observed her work with skepticism and assumed she had help from men. Women doing “men’s jobs” were not welcome. She became a huge benefactor of Planned Parenthood and is writing a memoir about her own struggle for gender equality in Hollywood.

LADY GAGA IS SINGLE, BUT LIFE COULDN’T GET MUCH BETTER!

Unlike Mariah Carey, Lady Gaga doesn’t need two men to hold her up when she walks in high heels. Musically, her career is in a good place and acting-wise, BIG doors are opening since Gaga appeared on American Horror Story. Not only has Bradley Cooper cast her in A Star is Born, but Barbra Streisand has re-doubled her obsessive efforts to film the musical “Gypsy” with her and Gaga starring as mother and daughter. Streisand is hounding her friends to invest in her pet film (Barry Levinson is set to direct) since financing fell through last month.

BETTE MIDLER: A KNIFE IN THE BACK FROM BARBRA STREISAND?

Bette Midler is in for a SHOCK! She’s been enjoying incredible record breaking success with her one woman show “I’ll Eat You Last” on Broadway and in Los Angeles. The show deals with powerful Hollywood agent Sue Mengers who was an unforgettable character and best friends with her client Barbra Streisand. (We remember selling them clothes – Barbra was several sizes smaller than Sue and liked to rub it in). Anyway, Bette hopes to turn this iconic role into a movie for herself but it won’t be easy. We hear that sneaky Barbra Streisand has been in secret talks to buy the rights for HERSELF. She figures Sue Mengers was HER friend, after all! Watch out, Bette!

Barbra Streisand Diane Lane Josh Brolin Rehab

JOSH BROLIN IS GETTING SOBER TO WIN HIS WIFE DIANE LANE BACK

We think there’s definitely some truth to the National Enquirer’s claim that Barbra Streisand pushed her stepson Josh Brolin into checking into rehab. Josh’s wife Diane Lane (who could ever forget her in “Unfaithful” with Richard Gere and Halle Berry’s husband Olivier Martinez at his hottest!) filed for divorce earlier this year and it finalized today. Streisand is married to Josh’s dad James, and she’s very fond of Diane. Certainly she gave James an earful when Josh’s drunken antics appeared all over the internet. Finally Josh realized he was making a fool of himself and now he’s trying to get help. His goal is to win his wife Diane back. It would be nice. We shall see. STREISAND AND BROLIN: THE WAY THEY STILL ARE

The National Enquirer has revived their story about Barbra Streisand and her husband of fifteen years, James Brolin, being on the rocks, pointing out that they haven’t been photographed together lately. Every few years they dig up the “rocky marriage” angle but we have our doubts that it’s true. Certainly Barbra is no picnic to live with. She has a lot of ego and idiosyncrasies and she likes to be in charge. But she knows she has a great catch in her handsome husband and makes a real effort to keep him happy. In fact, when James is not around, Barbara is bossy and very demanding, but when James is by her side, Barbra is a different person – she giggles like a coy schoolgirl.

BARBRA STREISAND’S DOGS ARE PAMPERED ON HER EUROPEAN TOUR

Barbra Streisand is so in love with her dogs that she took them along on her European concert tour. And they got the royal treatment just like she did. Barbra reportedly hired someone to give the dogs massages, and had a chef prepare organic meals for them She also brought their fancy dog beds along on the trip to make them feel at home. Barbra Streisand is just beginning her European tour and she was photographed arriving at her hotel in Amsterdam. Her cute son Jason Gould and her half-sister Roslyn Kind are both performing onstage with Barbra. Streisand brought her beloved dogs along for the ride and Jason his helping her bring them into the hotel while a crowd gathers to watch.

Barbra Streisand Bergdorf Goodman Movies Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorf's Sylvester Stallone

BERGDORF GOODMAN: IF THOSE DRESSING ROOMS COULD TALK!

We find the combination of celebrity gossip and fashion impossible to resist so we are eagerly anticipating the release of the film “Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorf’s.” This documentary traces the almost ninety year history of the most luxurious department store in perhaps the world. Many designers are interviewed and there are plenty of celebrity anecdotes. Had they interviewed us, we would have told the story about Sylvester Stallone shopping there. After gaining weight for a movie, he struggled in the dressing room there to find flattering clothes. After he left, a clerk found a waist cincher/ girdle that he had left behind! A discreet call was made, and Sly sent his wife in to pick up the undergarment. (Above, Barbra Streisand filmed a segment for her 1965 TV special there, wearing fur knickers!) It opens May 3.

SORRY BARBRA, BETTE MIDLER’S GOT THE LAST LAUGH!

Barbra Streisand can’t be thrilled that her holiday release movie “The Guilt Trip” (with Seth Rogan) has been pretty much a flop while Bette Midler’s movie, “Parental Guidance,” with Billy Crystal is a hit. “The Guilt Trip” cost 40 million to make and has only taken in around 31 million. “Parental Guidance” was made for 25 million and is expected to take in 70 million plus. Both movies obviously appeal to the older generation, but Seth Rogan halfheartedly promoted “The Guilt Trip” to HIS generation. Billy Crystal tirelessly promoted “Guidance” to an older generation and it even landed on an AARP cover. Bingo. We figure that icons Barbra Streisand and Bette Midler are more than a teensy bit competitive and Bette couldn’t be happier.
