BILLBOARD SAYS CARDI B IS WOMAN OF THE YEAR

We have to admit that we would MUCH rather eyeball Cardi B when she’s all dressed up in designer clothes than listen her to her speak and assassinate the English language. She obviously LOVES fashion and the fact that she is now able to afford the best. But too frequently she tries to pump up the sex factor and reveals way too much cleavage or skin in general. This week Billboard named her Woman of the Year and she did a spectacular fashion layout with AB+DM photography. We love this photo WAY more than the Balenciaga frock she’s wearing – these clever photographers made an okay dress look astonishing, and Cardi herself has never looked better.

Billboard Halsey Madonna Maluma

THE TWO THINGS WE FOUND MOST MEMORABLE FROM THE BILLBOARD AWARDS

First of all, Halsey. The show was loaded with special effects and huge, extravagant performances, but Halsey’s ultra-simple but exquisite and perfectly choreographed romantic song Without Me is the one we found amazing. Her voice was powerful throughout the acrobatic dance and the fact that her partner was a woman only made it more intense.

Second, Maluma. Leave it to Madonna to find the most delicious Hispanic male singer as a performance partner. Suddenly everyone has discovered Colombian Maluma, above, thanks to Miss M, and we can just IMAGINE Madonna conspiring to seduce this 25 year old cutie!

Billboard Country Gwen Stefani

GWEN STEFANI: “I AIN’T NO COUNTRY GIRL!”

Well, THAT’S a relief! Gwen Stefani is back to her old self after that scary appearance at the Billboard Awards. You may recall, she sang a duet with Blake Shelton and she actually LOOKED like she was turning into a country western singer! Too much beige – no red lips or glam eye makeup, uninspired flat hair, and a glitzy sequin gown! Fans were distraught, fearing this was her new look. Fortunately she has reverted back to her cool rock n’roll self (above performing at the Samsung Summer Concert Series in NY) and hopefully she will STAY this way!

Billboard Calvin Klein Justin Bieber Selena Gomez

POOR SELENA GOMEZ HAS TO LOOK AT THIS EVERY TIME SHE DRIVES ON SUNSET

Just as we predicted – only sooner than we expected – Selena Gomez has to drive past this giant Calvin Klein billboard of her exboyfriend Justin Bieber on Sunset, every time she goes to Chateau Marmont. Last night she went to the hotel restaurant with DJ Skillrex and probably saw this for the first time. Hopefully, she didn’t let it ruin her night.

Billboard Education Kendall Jenner

KENDALL JENNER IS AS DUMB AS SHE IS BEAUTIFUL

Last night Kendall Jenner proved what we always suspected – that the Kardashians ARE borderline illiterate. She was supposed to make an introduction on the Billboard Awards and her words made absolutely no sense. She admitted that she’s “the worst reader.” Imagine being unable to read a teleprompter! THAT’S how uneducated she is. Like the Osbournes, the Kardashians and Jenners have plenty of money and don’t care if their kids get an education. Every time we hear Kim use the word “I” incorrectly instead of “ME,” we cringe. Example: “Mom invited Khloe and I to the movies.” WRONG. The grammatically correct statement is “Mom invited Khloe and ME to the movies.” Lack of education always rears its ugly head.

Billboard Kesha Rehab

KESHA: REHAB DOES A BODY GOOD!

Kesha was a knockout at the Billboard Awards last night – her first major public appearance since she left rehab two months ago. As you recall, she claimed she was being treated for an eating disorder but we believe it was really a problem with alcohol. (Her MOTHER was there too!) Not only was rehab successful, but she has a new boyfriend named Brad – the were seen together at an LA flea market recently. So Kesha, 27, who removed the dollar sign from her name (formerly Ke$ha) has really cleaned up her act.

Billboard Cher Woman's World

CHER IS OUTSELLING ELTON JOHN AND SHE COULDN’T BE HAPPIER

We’ve never seen Cher promote an album with more enthusiasm than she did her latest one, and her hard work has paid off. “Closer to the Truth” (containing her single “Woman’s World”) is expected to debut on the Billboard chart tomorrow at #3 and that’s the BIGGEST debut of her 26 album history! (Drake is #1 and Kings of Leon #2) Another old-timer, Elton John, might not be thrllled to learn he’s following Cher at #4. It all bodes well for Cher’s planned album tour. It’s amazing how her popularity endures.

PRINCE AT BILLBOARD AWARDS: A 1970’S DREAMBOAT

On the other hand, we have Prince at the Billboard awards, looking out of this world. His seventies look – the afro, eyeliner, fringed jacket and bellbottoms – seems inspired by Jimi Hendrix and Little Richard combined. Prince is still going strong at 54 – it’s a shame that Michael Jackson didn’t age as comfortably as Prince.

NO-PANTS DAY FOR MADONNA AT BILLBOARD AWARDS

It looks like Madonna was SO enchanted with the Punk Couture theme of the Met Ball a few weeks ago that she recycled her punk rock look for the Billboard Awards in Las Vegas. Will.I.am got an eyeful when he presented her with the Top Touring Artist award.

HEY BONO, DON’T UNDERESTIMATE TAYLOR SWIFT!

We can’t conceal our delight at hearing the list of Billboard’s top money makers in the music industry. First of all, HALF of the big earners are FEMALE, and it’s about time! Taylor Swift – only 22 – was the number ONE money maker – she pulled in 37.5 million dollars through touring, album sales and publishing royalties, and she topped U2 and all the rappers and hip hop performers! Other females in the top 10 are Lady Gaga, Sade, Celine Dion, and Adele. Taylor’s romantic disappointments seem to inspire her hit songs. She’s got beauty, brains, good manners, and plenty of money – maybe that’s why it’s not so easy for Taylor to find love…
