SOME people were not dressing up in costume and partying last weekend. Billy Idol and Kareem Abdul Jabbar were at a Teen Cancer America benefit, raising money for the charity. (Actually a lot of rockers like Elton, Harry Styles, Lizzo, Joan Jett, etc are involved in this charity) Billy gleefully posted this photo of himself looking like a midget next to the basketball legend.

We’ve seen a lot of photos of Olivia Newton John since she passed on, but this has to be our absolute favorite. Billy Idol posted this vintage pic with no explanation of when or where it was taken, but look at those SWEET faces! (Olivia much sweeter than Billy, of course ) We’re guessing it was the 80’s…

Last December Billy Idol thought he had an ordinary sinus infection that was making him feel lousy. Despite treatment, the infection got worse and turned out to be caused by staph bacteria – the serious MRSA superbug that resists most antibiotics. One antibiotic after another failed to help and Billy had to resort to surgery. He was distraught when he was forced to cancel the tour he had planned with Journey that started in February and lasts until May. (Toto filled in for him) He’s STILL experimenting with different antibiotics and further surgery might be necessary. He’s asking fans to send him positive thoughts.

We never heard of the “War on Idling” in New York, but this cute photo of Billy Idol inspired us to look into it. It seems NY Mayor Bill De Blasio is obsessed with the fact that vehicles – especially delivery trucks, do not turn off their engines while parked – they idle. Of course that pollutes neighborhoods, but no matter how many tickets are given, the habit persists in the city. Billy Idol lives in Los Angeles, but he’s a good sport and joined the campaign because he has the right name and wants a clean environment. Of course Billy attracted a nice crowd to the PR event.

Clusters of rockers from the 80’s and beyond showed up at the Ken Paves salon last night for a pop-up art show by Billy Morrison and Steve Stevens. Both artists gained fame as musicians touring with Billy Idol, who was also there. Steve Stevens and his voluptuous wife Josie (you remember her from the reality show Married to Rock in 2010) dressed up for the occasion and yes, they sold some art.

MUSICIANS OR ARTISTS?
If you wanted to see celebrities on Thursday night you should have gone to the Rolling Stones concert at The Rose Bowl in Pasadena. It’s a gigantic stadium, but we’re sure the famous people were sitting in the best section, with VIP parking etc. Otherwise it could be a madhouse. Billy Idol is one of our favorite celebs to show up – and he still looks cool… Billy wasn’t dancing with himself, he was with his girlfriend China Chow.

It’s been over a year, and the unexpected relationship of Billy Idol, 63, and China Chow, 45, continues to flourish. They ARE both British, but Billy is a wild and sexy iconic 80’s rocker, and China is an educated and beautiful, socialite. She has also dabbled in acting and modeling. Since they hooked up, she has been taking the never married Billy to all kinds of social events – art gallery openings, charity events and fashion shows – places we’ve never seen him before. They seem quite happy above, leaving Nobu in Malibu after dinner…

Having written about several of Billy Idol’s near death drug experiences in the past, we are surprised and delighted to witness him celebrating his 63rd birthday. For the past year, Billy has been dating fashion and art maven, China Chow, 44. (An unexpected pairing!) China dressed to the hilt for Billy’s birthday party last night at – of course- Mr Chow in Beverly Hills. Billy just became a US citizen last month – it’s about time.
