BOY GEORGE WANTS KEANU REEVES TO STAR IN HIS LIFE STORY

Believe it or not, filming is set to start this summer for Boy George’s musical biopic Karma Chameleon, and the leading role has not yet been cast! Boy George has been hoping that Keanu Reeves would be cast to play him, but that’s only wishful thinking. (He’s not giving up on having Keanu make a cameo appearance in the movie, however.) The movie will start with George’s Irish working class upbringing- and trace his evolution to stardom in the 80’s with Culture Club. It will also include that nasty episode where George was sentenced to 15 months in jail for “false imprisonment” – he handcuffed a Norwegian male escort to the wall of his London flat after meeting him on the dating site Gaydar. George turns 60 this year (!) and he’s already booked for a series of concerts this summer.

WHO DOESN’T WANT TO PLAY MADONNA IN HER LIFE STORY?

Needless to say, we were startled by Madonna’s announcement that she is co-writing and will direct her own life story onscreen. (Elton John was satisfied with being a “consultant” on Rocketman!) Her co-writer is the Oscar winner Diablo Cody, so the untitled screenplay could be very interesting. She was inspired to do this because she heard a script about her life called Blond Ambition had been floating around Universal and was horrified (it was never produced.) Madonna insists “Nobody knows what I know and I have seen better than me!” The BIG question IS: WHO will Madonna cast as HERSELF? …Any suggestions?

DON’T PICK ON NORMAN ROCKWELL!

portrait-of-norman-#17Ecut

We were horrified to hear about this new Norman Rockwell biography “American Mirror” because it’s apparent that the author, Deborah Solomon, is determined to rip an American idol to shreds with negative suppositions. Obviously Solomon, an art critic, had nothing but contempt for the illustrator who is among the most beloved of American artists. She analyzed his paintings and decided they implied all sorts of perversions and noted that married-three-times Norman liked the company of men. The critic turned analyst assumed that Rockwell had an abnormal interest in boys because he painted so many of them. Baloney. Rockwell’s neighbors and subjects have stepped forward to condemn her book. This reminds us of the hatchet job done on the brilliant Walt Disney, who wasn’t perfect but he wasn’t bad either, and he certainly contributed enormously to the happiness of children everywhere. Some people will write ANYTHING to sell a book.

JOHNNY DEPP WOULD LOVE TO STAR IN BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN’S LIFE STORY

#johnnydepp #brucespringsteen #janetcharlton

Rumor has it that Johnny Depp recently approached Bruce Springsteen about starring In a movie about the singer’s life but Bruce turned him down flat. Bruce and Johnny are friendly and have hung out together – including after The Grammys last February, so we’ve been trying to figure out why Bruce, 63, wouldn’t be at least a LITTLE tantalized by the idea. Springsteen’s image as a working-class hero emerging in the early 80’s would certainly be appealing movie material and Johnny IS a frustrated rock star. But maybe Johnny, at 49, is a bit old to play the intense young Bruce. Or maybe Bruce is in no hurry to see his life onscreen. James Franco has also been suggested to play Bruce if indeed a movie biography gets made.

WHERE DOES BOBBI KRISTINA GET THE NERVE TO THINK SHE CAN PLAY HER MOTHER WHITNEY HOUSTON IN A BIO?

Bobbi Kristina may have a whole bunch of problems but she has a giant ego to deal with them. Since speculation about a Whitney Houston biography has been circulation, with Rihanna determined to land the role, Bobbi started insisting SHE is the logical person to play her mother. Apparently, according to TMZ, Bobbi now considers herself an actress since >Tyler Perry</strong> hired her for his sitcom. It’s amazing that she has no qualms about playing her own exceptionally beautiful and talented mom – Bobbi Kristina may SEEM like a lost little girl, but she has no shortage of self confidence.

RYAN GOSLING AS WALT DISNEY? WE’LL BUY IT!

Photo via: Hollywood Reporter

We can’t figure out WHY, but a French graphic artist created this movie poster and released it on the internet. Many people got very excited at the prospect of a movie biography of Walt Disney starring Ryan Gosling, who got HIS start on The Mickey Mouse Club. But it’s NOT REAL! According to the Hollywood Reporter, it’s a fake, and no such movie is even in the works. The whole episode was disappointing and made us realize HOW MUCH we would LOVE to see a movie about Walt Disney. Maybe Ryan should be encouraged to buy the rights to Uncle Walt’s life story!

GEORGE CLOONEY AS STEVE JOBS? NO WAY!

Sorry, but we cannot in our wildest dreams imagine casting George Clooney to star in the Steve Jobs life story. George is a decent actor but we cannot forget that he’s not only movie star handsome but a smooth ladies man – and was never a nerd. Since Sony bought the rights to the Apple mogul’s story, George seems to be the most serious contender – the challenge is playing Jobs both young and older. But there are many better choices. How about Andy Samberg or Christian Bale? We think Ryan Gosling might be perfect. How about Matthew Modine, Michael Cera, or Adrian Brody? What’s YOUR opinion?

LADY GAGA WANTS TO STAR IN “THE AMY WINEHOUSE STORY”

Lady Gaga is hell-bent on becoming a movie star and she wants to kick off her acting career by starring as Amy Winehouse in her biography. According to Mike Walker in the National Enquirer, Gaga IDOLIZED Amy and often imitated her for friends. Her friends feel she’d be the perfect person to play Amy. Now Gaga has her high powered production team working to put together a deal for the Amy Winehouse story. Actually, we can’t think of anyone more appropriate to play Amy…

WAS DORIS DAY'S CRUSH ON STEPHEN BOYD UNREQUITED?

doriscut%20day-1.jpg
We happen to love Doris Day movies – she’s always so cheerful. She might not be so happy to learn that there’s a new biography coming out about her sexy private life. “Doris Day: The Reluctant Star,” written by David Bret, will be released in the UK this summer and early leaks reveal some tantalizing assertions. We were floored when the author casually remarked that Doris had crushes on gay men like Rock Hudson and Stephen Boyd. We had no idea Stephen Boyd (really handsome in “Ben Hur” and that New York career girl movie “The Best of Everything”) was GAY! Is this common knowledge, or pure conjecture? Any experts out there?

TOM CRUISE TELL-ALL IS BOUND TO RILE UP SCIENTOLOGISTS

cruisecutcouchpg
“Tom Cruise: An Unauthorized Biography” by Andrew Morton is bound to be a bombshell when it hits book stores next week. What makes the book most fascinating are the ways in which Scientology controls Tom Cruise’s life. From the excerpts we’ve seen, the book seems to be very accurate. We were flattered to note that Morton prominently featured information from this website – specifically our “Rosemary’s Baby” theory. Back in May of 2006, we wrote about a discussion we had with former Scientologists about the comparison between the movie and Suri’s birth. Morton read the posting and later contacted us – we talked about that posting and other related issues. We asked not to be quoted, because, frankly, we are afraid of Scientologists. Since Andrew Morton has gone into hiding, we suspect he is too.
