CELEBRITY HALLOWEEN: DRESSING UP IS HARD TO DO!

W
Wild west inspired Cindy Crawford and Randy Gerber hosted a huge Halloween party with Casamigos – he looks like Clint Eastwood and Cindy looks like a saloon hostess

Rebel Wilson and her girlfriend dressed up as brand-new Barbies- still in the box! By party’s end, they were carrying the boxes in pieces…

Josh Duhamel and Audra Mari dressed up as Anna Nicole Smith and her MUCH older husband (oddly unflattering for Josh)

That’s Wiz Khalifa dressed as a nun!

Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox perfectly captured Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee

Paris Hilton dressed up as Margot Robbie’s character Harley Quinn (do we detect a bit of “career envy” here?)

Presley Gerber (looking thinner than ever) and his girlfriend dressed as Fred and Wilma Flintstone

David Spade had no costume – but his grey beard makes him look like a much older version of himself…

GOLDEN GLOBES VIP GIFT BAGS: NOT SO FANCY THIS YEAR

Things will be different at the Golden Globes this year and that includes the legendary gifting suites. During the week before the event, VIP gifting suites are generally set up in various hotels near Beverly Hills. Nominees and celebrities involved in the award show are invited to claim gift bags full of products and gift certificates. The bags might contain tickets for a Hawaiian vacation, certificates for massages, rejuvenation procedures and botox treatments, skincare treatments, expensive perfume and wine, small kitchen appliances, designer leather goods and sunglasses, a cashmere throw, even cannabis products. But this year is not the same- VIP’s are invited to pull up in front of places like the Luxe Hotel on Sunset and someone wearing a mask and gloves will hand them a bag, but the gifts are not as extravagant – most likely popcorn, fancy masks, candy, cosmetic samples, kitchen tools, etc. Big companies that donate prefer a PERSONAL connection with the celebrities…maybe next year…

GOLDEN GLOBES HOST RICKY GERVAIS: THANK GOD AT YOUR OWN RISK

Ricky Gervais, the rascal who made last year’s Golden Globes watchable, is returning this weekend and he explained some of his wisecracks in Esquire. Ricky closed the show saying “Thank you to God that I’m an atheist!” He clarified that it wasn’t just a matter of declaring his own beliefs, but of pointing out how narcissistic celebrities are in the spotlight. He was criticizing all those people who thank God because they won an award. Ricky figures that considering all the famine and wars going on in the world that it’s incredibly arrogant and egocentric for winners to think God went out of the way to help THEM. If indeed God exists, he has more important things to do. Let’s hope the God-thankers take the HINT. We’re looking forward to the 2012 Globes.

CHELSEA HANDLER DOESN’T WANT TO MAKE FUN OF HER CELEBRITY FRIENDS

Chelsea Handler gained fame poking fun at celebrities on her E! show Chelsea Lately, but now she’s announced that she wants to do something more “important” and NOT celebrity-centered. Translation: She is BECOMING a celebrity herself, and wants to be accepted as one of the group. As long as she’s teasing and tormenting celebrities as part of her act, they will politely avoid her. Also her new boyfriend Andre Balazs, is tight with many celebrities who probably regard Chelsea with caution. Consequently, Chelsea is moving over to the other side….

NENE LEAKES AND STAR JONES HAVE A FUTURE ON REALITY TV

The success of “Dancing With the Stars” and “Celebrity Apprentice” and “Celebrity Rehab” has all the networks scrambling for reality shows involving celebrities in some kind of peril or unfamiliar situation. Last year, CBS announced it was working on a “fish out of water” pilot called “The Name Game” where a celebrity switched lives with an everyday person with the same name. (For example, actor Gary Busey might switch lives with a car mechanic with the same name.) They soon learned it was impossible to find willing participants with the same names. According to Deadline/Hollywood, ABC has ordered episodes of a celebrity edition of their hit Wife Swap (or is it LIFE SWAP?) in which celebrities switch lifestyles for a week. Come to think of it, we wouldn’t mind seeing NeNe Leakes and Star Jones swapping lives for a week.

PARIS HILTON WANTS TO ONE-UP HER FORMER FRIEND KIM KARDASHIAN

Paris Hilton is desperately trying to regain her popularity by filming a still untitled reality show with Charlie Sheen’s drug addled estranged wife Brooke Mueller. Her former best friend and protege (and assistant?) Kim Kardashian, has usurped Paris’s hard earned celebutante title. Paris’s photos don’t sell any more and Kim is red hot. A few years back Paris took Kim to her first Hollywood parties and introduced her to the red carpet. Kim carefully observed how Paris carved an image and made herself famous – and she also noted Paris’s mistakes. The next thing you know Kim made a sex video too, and had her own reality show “Keeping Up With The Kardashians.” Now Kim gets the private jets to parties and Paris has to pay her own way. She’s hoping a new show will change things.

ELIJAH BLUE’S ART IS INSPIRED BY THE INEXPLICABLE WORLD OF CELEBRITY

We were surprised to hear that Cher’s son Elijah Blue had evolved from making music with his band “Deadsy” to creating modern art. His famous family (Cher, who he’s starting to resemble, and Chaz) showed up at his most recent gallery show in Malibu, but we decided to examine his art. Elijah specializes in commenting on “the celebrity condition.” In the photo above he’s featured with his subtle painting called “Ivory Tower” which was first shown at the Kantor Gallery. The repeated logos of Ivory Soap and Tower Records are the kind you see behind famous people when they’re photographed at all Hollywood events – emphasizing the link between commerce and celebrity. Elijah describes the piece as “about people who are isolated, breathing rarified air, don’t have to deal with the realities of the world. This is the common outcome of celebrity.” He went on to say “I watch Jersey Shore too and I love it- I am not above any of this, I’m just commenting on it.”
