CHINA TAKES A SERIOUS LEAP INTO THE WORLD OF FASHION

When gossip is scarce – there’s always new fashion to fill in the gaps. Many observers were pleasantly surprised by new designer C.T. Liu’s fashion photos from New York Fashion Week. We’re accustomed to Tom Ford knock-offs from China, but this collection, called C+Plus Series, from China is quite original and we are impressed! The designer aims to dress the urban career woman and the clothing has a modern sensibility with a twist.

Basketball China Donald Trump Shoplift UCLA

THE BALLPLAYING THIEVES WHO DISGRACED UCLA BROUGHT OUT THE WORST IN OTHERS!

When we heard that three UCLA basketball players had been arrested in China for SHOPLIFTING, we were flabbergasted at how stupid the guys must be. And they’re IN COLLEGE! It turns out that security footage revealed the three guys- all around 19 or 20 – stole Louis Vuitton sunglasses (average price $700) and other stuff from three stores near their hotel. A big heist – and it was all found in their luggage. Stealing thousands of dollars of merchandise can get you ten years in prison in China. (Having owned a store, we have no sympathy for thieves.) Apparently President Trump helped get them released (and of course he wanted a pat on the back!) The father of one player was equally stupid when he said he doubted the president’s role in getting the players released and sniffed that shoplifting was “no big deal.” NO WONDER the kid is a thief – with a father like that! Of course, all this inspired our chatty president to reply “I should have left them in jail.” Maybe he should have.

CUTENESS OVERLOAD: PANDA DOGS

It would be a crime NOT to mention the Panda Dog fad that is sweeping across China. A groomer there perfected a haircut and dye job that turns an ordinary Chow into a Panda lookalike in two hours. Suddenly the Chow is the breed most in demand because they are best suited to the Panda makeover. (The ears are perfect.) The Chinese have finally embraced dogs as pets and these adorable Panda Dogs have become a prestigious possession.

In their attempt to make Sarah flawless, the Chinese photoshoppers have radically changed her looks and stolen her personality. SINISTER is not a look we are accustomed to seeing on Sarah’s face!

DON DRAPER ON THE BEACH IS A SIGHT TO BEHOLD

Don Draper is not just a hot commodity in the US, he and his Mad Men lifestyle are much admired in China. The LA Times reports that the 60’s era series is playing online with Chinese subtitles and fansites are multiplying. Part of the show’s appeal is said to be the fact that is closely resembles current Chinese culture – a high divorce rate, lots of smoking in the workplace, and a workforce dominated by men. Above, Jon Hamm is filming in Hawaii and we love his clean shaven look and manly trunks as opposed to grizzled guys in speedos today.

LADY GAGA DOES ALL THE YOGA MOVES IN THIS OUTFIT!

Never a dull moment with Lady Gaga. She’s in Taipei promoting her album “Born This Way” and decided to pop into a yoga class at Pure Yoga there. The other yogis in class could barely tear their eyes away from her outlandish black stretchy outfit and matching yoga mat. She DID take off her spiked boots. Word spread fast that she was in class and around 500 people were waiting outside when she left.
