CHRIS ROCK’S HUMOR WILL NOT BE CENSORED

That was fast! No sooner did Chris Rock’s live Netflix special air than Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reached out to the powers that be at the streaming giant to voice their displeasure. In one bit, Chris poked fun at Meghan’s claim of racism in the Royal family, which obviously didn’t sit well with the couple. Harry and Meghan DO have a lucrative Netflix deal which has already earned them millions, but despite that, they were politely told that the network does NOT believe in censorship. Chris’ jokes were funny and they were HIS – not the network’s. It’s unlikely that Harry and Meg will walk away from their deal over this, but to say they’re upset would be an understatement…

Apology Chris Rock Oscar Slap Will Smith

WILL SMITH’S “APOLOGY” WASN’T MEANT FOR CHRIS ROCK

If you thought Will Smith’s apology to Chris Rock for slapping him at the Oscars was stiff and insincere, you are not alone. There’s a noteworthy difference between saying “I apologize” and “I am sorry. ”

According to Google: There is a subtle difference between saying “I’m sorry” and “I apologize.” An apology is a formal admission of a wrongdoing. It may or may not be heartfelt — i.e., a person may apologize without feeling remorseful. On the other hand, saying “I am sorry” is usually seen as being a truer admission of regret.

Not only did Will offer a stiff “apology” but he made a subtle reference in his speech that implied that Rock’s innocuous joke about Jada’s bald head was meant as an insult – thus giving him a good reason to become violent. All in all, it seems Will Smith made that speech because he was pressured into it- NOT because thinks he was wrong. Will’s speech was actually just a PR move to get fans to forgive him.
Congrats to Chris Rock for not responding favorably!

CHRIS ROCK: THE SLAP BROUGHT GOOD LUCK

Ever since that Oscar Slap, good things keep happening for Chris Rock. The Slap was a real shock to his system and his ego, but despite his discomfort with it, his comedy tour started selling OUT. Onstage he didn’t want to talk about The Slap but he joked about being “lonely in his fifties.” (Can you believe he’s 57?) The next thing we knew, he had found himself a girlfriend and they were seen vacationing together in Croatia. Lake Bell, 43, is a cute and accomplished actress, writer, and director, and most important, she’s known for being FUNNY. She was backstage at Madison Square Garden for Chris’s big show there last week with Kevin Hart, and turns up at his other shows whenever possible. Chris has very little to complain about these days…

CHRIS ROCK STILL HAS THE LAST LAUGH

No need to worry about Chris Rock any more. After that famous Oscar Slap, demand for tickets for his Ego Death world tour skyrocketed, and the actual price of tickets did too. (Two thousand dollars for the best seats!) Best of all, the sellouts and added shows just keep going, and Chris is pulling in a LOT more money thanks to Will Smith. Not only that, but he’s getting an abundance of unexpected offers – including job offers to host both The Emmys AND The Oscars. So while Smith is hiding out at home, Chris is enjoying mucho success…

Academy Awards Chris Rock Oscars The Slap Will Smith

WHAT IF WILL SMITH HAD BEEN FORCED TO LEAVE THE OSCARS?

We just heard that after THE SLAP, Will Smith WAS asked by the Academy to leave the ceremony and he REFUSED! Of course this makes Smith’s egotistical behavior look even WORSE, and hopefully the Academy will be more likely to punish him in some way. Just imagine what MIGHT have happened if security guards had INSISTED that Smith leave, and attempted to “walk” him out forcefully! Smith would struggle and Denzel Washington would probably have leapt into the fray to try and calm things down. Tuxedoes notwithstanding, other hot-headed actors would have jumped at the chance to defend whatever side they were on. It could have degenerated into quite a melee (although many viewers would have loved it) so give the Academy a break. It’s so nice to hear that after THE SLAP, Chris Rock’s standup tour tickets started selling like crazy – this will be quite profitable for him.

Chris Rock Jada Pinkett Oscars Will Smith

JADA PINKETT DOESN’T WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT

What we REALLY want to know is how did Jada Pinkett feel about her husband Will’s behavior at the Oscars! She has kept conspicuously quiet about the issue. Do you suppose she felt GRATEFUL that Will “chivalrously” defended her against Chris Rock’s remarks? Keep in mind, being compared to Demi Moore in G.I.Jane is HARDLY an insult. Certainly Will violently overreacted, but did Jada secretly appreciate it? Or was she appalled and HUMILIATED? Jada happened to look fabulous on Oscar night and Will’s behavior pulled attention away from her and everyone else. We’ve heard about their marriage problems – will this help or hurt their relationship? Jada will be criticized either way – whether she supports Will’s behavior or condones it – so we think she will NOT comment. Meanwhile, we don’t think Chris Rock did anything wrong and he carried on like a trouper. We also think Will’s “people” forced him to make that apology today to avoid getting kicked out of the Academy.

Chris Rock G.I. Jane Oscars Slap Will Smith

WILL SMITH WILL NEVER BE THE SAME

At least in our opinion. We remember meeting Will Smith back in the 90’s when The Fresh Prince of Bel Air made him a star. It was backstage at an award show and Will was a sweet guy who seemed to talk about God a lot. That nice guy image was shattered on the Oscars last night when Will turned into a monster – for no logical reason- leaping onstage and smacking Chris Rock in the face, threatening and cursing on live TV, – because Chris made a mild – and not unflattering – joke about Jada Pinkett’s shaved head and Demi Moore’s film G.I. Jane. Shockingly, Smith was not removed from the audience, and he went on to win the Best Actor Oscar. His rambling, tearful acceptance speech only made him seem MORE out of control. Mental problems? Substance problems? Of ALL people – Will Smith? Everyone is wondering today…

Chris Rock was seen shopping in Soho with a supercute young woman who is NOT a new girlfriend. It’s actually his sixteen year old daughter Zahra! Back in 2014, Chris Rock wanted to divorce his wife Malaak, but not his two daughters with her, so he lives very close to them. He spends a lot of time with his girls – his older daughter hopes to start college this year. Chris came up with a detective story that has been turned into a movie called Spiral and he is Executive Producer. He also stars as a detective investigating some sickening murders with Samuel L Jackson. Hopefully, it’s being released next year…

CHRIS ROCK AND ROSIE PEREZ TAKE NO CHANCES

New York Governor Cuomo is no fool – he knows how to reach his audience in a positive way. He’s promoting the use of masks during his daily press conference and he had two important New Yorkers backing him up. While setting a social distancing example, Chris Rock and Rosie Perez urged everyone to continue wearing masks and gloves to protect against coronavirus – and they did it with their own brand of humor.
