“INVICTUS IS WELL WORTH SEEING DESPITE THE SPORTS
Filed Under: "Invictus" > Clint Eastwood > Morgan Freeman > Movies

We admit we had to be DRAGGED to see “Invictus,” because we have no particular interest in rugby or South African politics. (By the way, the word “Invictus” is Latin for “unconquered” – it’s the title of a poem from 1875 about never giving up.) Were WE surprised! We almost forgot what humanity Clint Eastwood brings to his movies. Sentimental Eastwood made the story light up with many personal and touching moments. It turned out to be both educating and engrossing. Matt Damon is uncharacteristically hunky as the team captain. It was also interesting to watch Morgan Freeman (who was excellent as usual) conceal his paralyzed hand. Hopefully it will heal eventually.

Do you see a resemblance? It’s Kyle Eastwood,41, the jazz musician son of actor Clint Eastwood. Kyle has composed music for many of his father’s movies, including Gran Torino. He arrived at the Tokyo airport with his band because they’re booked at The Blue Note jazz club there. He was thrilled when several Japanese fans greeted him and asked for photos.

ELVIS COSTELLO IS WATCHING THE TWINS NOW, NOT THE DETECTIVES

Musicians on the beach often seem a little fish-out-of-waterish but Elvis Costello seems to be having fun in Hawaii with his twin boys Dexter and Frank. Elvis’s wife Diana Krall was rumored to be the object of jazz fan Clint Eastwood’s affection a few years back when they were both single.
