Environmental activist Adrian Grenier is quick to give us advice on how to save power and conserve resources on his show “Alter Eco” on the Planet Green channel, but maybe he needs to take his own advice. Last weekend he was partying at the 5 gum House of Hype party at the Riviera Hotel in Palm Springs. Many of the partygoers planned to drive to Coachella, which is an hour away by Prius, that evening. When Adrian learned that VIP’s were being offered private helicopter rides to Coachella, he passed on driving with a car full of friends, and flew instead. Not exactly a green decision.

DON'T INVITE MORRISSEY TO A BARBECUE

A longtime vegetarian, Morrissey (“The Smiths”) has never been one to mince words and when he started gagging onstage during his performance at Coachella, he declared “I smell burning flesh – and I hope to God it’s human!” He stormed off the stage, flashing contemptuous looks toward the stands frying burgers near the stage. Eventually he returned, only to gag some more. The set was a disappointment, but when he took off his shirt, it was apparent that a vegetarian diet is not necessarily low in calories.

CHLOE AND DITA HAVE HAPPY FEET AT COACHELLA

The Coachella music festival brought out lots of fashionistas but sky high stilettos just didn’t work on the grass. Chloe Sevigny and Dita Von Teese solved the style dilemma by wearing sensible shoes for a change. Dita dug some Keds out of the back of her closet and Chloe actually rocked the black socks and sandals look.

Just wondering: Since the Coachella lineup has been announced, which performers get YOU excited enough to buy tickets? We happen to have a profound weakness for Leonard Cohen (actually it borders on obsessive crush) and he almost never tours. But we’d rather see him in a more intimate and controlled space. Amy Winehouse sounds too good to be true. If she shows, it will be sensational. We can hardly wait for all the backstage gossip.

PRINCE REVEALS HIS SUMMER WARDROBE

Prince debuted some new footwear during his performance at Coachella. Usually he wears pointy high heel boots that he has custom made in a color to match every outfit. His new look is a more comfortable round toe platform boot with what appears to be a high lucite wedge. It still gives him that much needed extra four or five inches of height.

She’s completely dolled up in 50’s vintage – a jaunty straw hat and a tropical sundress, appropriately accessorized with a cherry necklace and bangle bracelets. COURTNEY LOVE: WHO'S IN CHARGE HERE?

Courtney Love was throwing her weight around backstage at Coachella, but no one paid her much attention. Although she was NOT performing, Courtney decided she had to have a trailer of her own backstage. She told everyone who looked important that she wanted a trailer – and pointed to one conveniently located near the gate. It was already occupied by the Brazilian punk band CSS (Tired of Being Sexy) who had no idea what she was up to. When the bandmembers saw Courtney they got very excited and rushed to meet her. She brushed them off and PERSISTED in searching for someone in charge who could give her their trailer. An observer described her behavior as “toxic” and her demands were not met.
