LIZZO’S BOYFRIEND IS A STANDUP COMIC!

Naughty little Lizzo has been keeping a secret. On Valentines Day she was seen dining with a nice looking man – but he was wearing a mask and she refused to identify him. She’s been deliberately keeping the guy undercover for months now, probably because she knew it would be a big deal when she went public. FINALLY the couple turned up at Craig’s for her birthday – what better place to introduce her boyfriend to a pack of paparazzi! Everybody started googling Myke Wright and it turns out he is an actor – but more important, he’s a standup comic! (Comedy Central) Nobody loves to laugh more than Lizzo, so they look like a good match.

SEBASTIAN MANISCALCO IS FULL OF SURPRISES

The first time we saw the very Italian comic Sebastian Maniscalco, we were dead certain that he was a native New Yorker. But it turns out he was actually born in Arlington Heights, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, very close to where we grew up. In 1998, he moved to Los Angeles and started appearing at The Comedy Store, while working his way up in the world of stand-up. He’s a little like Jerry Seinfeld in his funny observations, but he’s a lot more animated. Sebastian is in NY promoting his new Netflix special Stay Hungry, and we’re surprised to see him wearing head to toe MAUVE!

Archie Comic Lena Dunham

LENA DUNHAM IS INTRODUCING FEMINISM TO ARCHIE COMICS

Lena Dunham looked very together as she arrived at the Jimmy Kimmel show. Besides talking about her book “Not That Kind of Girl,” she discussed her latest venture – writing a four part story for Archie comics. (A childhood favorite of ours) Dunham just can’t imagine two hot, intelligent women like Betty and Veronica fighting over a REDHEAD! (Archie, of course) She intends to inject some feminism into the mid-century mentality of Riverdale. But thankfully, no nudity.

Riverdale is truly moving into the 21st century. We grew up reading about Archie, Betty, and Veronica, and now they are all embracing the cast from Glee in an upcoming issue. Publishers of the beloved comic want their characters to remain the same through the years but they want Riverdale to move into modern times. A writer from Glee is contributing to the story. Glee cast members Sue, Puck, Brittany, Finn, Rachel and Kurt are featured on the collectible comic cover, which will be on the stands February 27th.

Comic HeShe Little Lulu Stephen Saban

HESHE’S HAVE BEEN AROUND FOR A LONG TIME

Our talented friend Stephen Saban at The WOW Report must have shared our youthful passion for comic books because he found this magnificent issue of a real comic called Crimebuster from 1943. We owe our future in journalism to the many hours we spent as a child lost in these illustrated stories. We don’t remember seeing this comic (Little Lulu was our favorite) but coincidentally we did go out trick or treating one Halloween as a half man half woman with a magic marker line dividing the face in half and make up and jewelry on one side, along with a boy and a girl shoe. The body didn’t matter because Chicago was so cold you had to bundle up in a heavy coat on Halloween. Fun times.

Ryan Gosling arrived at JFK airport armed with reading matter for a flight out of town. He’s hiding behind a vintage 1973 issue of “Famous Monsters of Filmland” which has been enjoying renewed popularity thanks to Comic-Con. He can hardly keep a straight face. Eva Mendes is right behind him, dressed down, trying not to be noticed. It’s funny to imagine him reading that on the plane sitting next to Eva.

Auction Comic Nicolas Cage Storage Wars Superman

NICOLAS CAGE SOLD THE FIRST SUPERMAN COMIC FOR TWO MILLION DOLLARS

Nicolas Cage’s life is riddled with idiosyncrasies. A few years ago, he was a regular at high-end auctions in Los Angeles, and he always bought strange stuff like prehistoric rocks for a lot of money. Cage had the first Superman comic framed on his wall for years, but back in 2000 he had so many houses that he lost track and it was stolen. In April,it was recovered when someone bought the contents of an abandoned storage locker (what an episode this would have made for Storage Wars!) and Cage got it back. His comic is exceptionally well preserved and was just auctioned off for $2,161,000 – a new record! He must be kinda broke to part with it.
