Bono could barely contain his joy in the warm sun as he walked out of the Chateau Marmont hotel and headed for his sold out concert at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena on Sunday. Colin Farrell turned up with yet another pretty girl on his arm (just as we think he’s getting serious about someone, he moves on.) In fact, he changes girlfriends WAY more often than he changes his shoes! Despite the fact that hundreds of unhappy people found out they had counterfeit tickets for the U-2 concert (many were purchased on Craig’s List,) there were no riots.

KEVIN COSTNER BROUGHT MODERN WEST TO ATHENS, GREECE

Kevin Costner and his band Modern West drew a big crowd in Athens, Greece. And we didn’t even know Kevin HAD a band! Surprisingly, his wife Christine is very supportive of the country rock band but if we were her, we’d be worried about groupies on the road. He may not be so young, but there’s a lot of flirtation left in Kevin. Maybe Christine tours with them.

LADY GAGA DOESN’T NEED KANYE WEST
Filed Under: Bad Behavior > Concert > Kanye West > Lady Gaga

Kanye West’s big mouth is NOT increasing his popularity. He’s currently featured with Lady GaGa on her Fame Kills tour and it started out as a 50-50 deal, but his name has been taken off ads and marketing although he IS still performing. Kanye HAS been talking about “taking a vacation” so maybe he won’t do the entire tour – especially since GaGa has proved she can hold her own. Insiders believe that his name was removed because he turns too many people OFF.

OOPS! DID YOU FORGET SOMETHING?

Michael Jackson spent two hours rehearsing at a studio today and when he and his two oldest children, Paris and Prince, walked out to the parking lot, the kids suddenly realized they had forgotten their masks and ran back to get them. The fact that Prince is at rehearsal makes one wonder if the rumor that he will sing and dance with Michael’s in the concert is true. It’s odd that Michael is under an umbrella while the kids are out in the rain.

CONCERT PROMOTERS MINIMIZED THEIR RISK WITH MICHAEL JACKSON
Filed Under: Concert > Michael Jackson > Money

Michael Jackson turned up at his LA studio to rehearse for his London concerts and he took time to pose with fans and show off his new curly hair. For those who’ve been wondering WHY promoters would invest so much money in Michael’s concerts when it seems so risky, considering his health and past flakiness, the LA Times has the answer. All the money that promoters put up for this series of shows is backed by the value of Neverland and related assets of Michael’s. In other words Michael has put up a LOT of collateral. Jackson stands to take in 50 million dollars for the London shows and promoters hope to extend it to a three year tour starting in Europe, then Asia, and finally the US. So far that’s only in the talking stages.

MICHAEL JACKSON: THE CANCELLED CONCERTS
Filed Under: Concert > Madonna > Michael Jackson

And so it begins. The pressure is mounting and Michael Jackson just cancelled his first week of concerts in London, leaving 10,000 fans who bought tickets distraught. Many ticket holders had made plans to fly in from other countries for the event. Michael rescheduled the four cancelled shows for up to EIGHT months later. While Michael seems to have been visiting his doctor more often than he rehearses, he claims his health is fine. (Note those shoulders again.) The official excuse for the cancellation was that complex technical parts of the show weren’t ready and also, since Madonna was performing at the same arena in the beginning of July, Michael wouldn’t have enough time to rehearse.

A DUET FOR MICHAEL AND PRINCE?

It's been 12 years since Michael Jackson did his last concert run and the countdown has started that hopefully will lead up to his July opening of fifty sold out shows in the UK. According to the LA Times, The concert promoter, AEG Live says the production budget is way over 20 million, and it’s promising to be “the biggest and most technologically advanced show ever mounted.” Michaal’s been rehearsing four days a week for six hours a day with choreographer Kenny (”Dirty Dancing“) Ortega and he says he’s developing a secret new move that will be as distinctive as his moonwalk. One of the more enticing rumors about the show is that Jackson will do a duet with his oldest son Prince Michael.

WILL MICHAEL JACKSON SURVIVE FIFTY PERFORMANCES?
Filed Under: Comeback > Concert > Michael Jackson > Money

An astute reader has a contact at the O2 Arena in the UK where Michael Jackson has scheduled 50 concerts from July to September and January thru February. (That’s a staggering amount of performances for someone who’s often seen in a wheelchair.) The source says that everyone at the arena has been warned that no one backstage, crew or fans, can TOUCH Michael because he is delicate. The best part is that Michael will still be paid for his concerts even if he FAILS to complete his contract due to illness! What are the odds of him NOT becoming ill? He won’t allow an O2 doctor to examine him. The arena is starting to worry that they will be empty for many of these nights. How Michael gets away with all this is a miracle.

MICHAEL JACKSON IS STARTING TO THINK ABOUT HIS BIG COMEBACK
Filed Under: Concert > Michael Jackson

What IS Michael Jackson thinking? He just started auditioning dancers for his comeback concerts in the UK that commence on July 8. Talk about waiting till the last minute! Michael had 500 excited dancers lined up to try out for 50 parts in his show. At the first audition, Michael didn’t even show up, he scrutinized the dancers by video link. It seems like Michael has been doing a lot of shopping and not so much rehearsing or preparing for this sold-out event. If we were producing those shows, we’d be worried, but Michael may surprise us at the last minute with a fabulous performance. On the other hand, he may not.

JENNIFER LOPEZ STILL SWOONS FOR MARC ANTHONY

Nobody cheered louder than Jennifer Lopez when her husband Marc Anthony performed Thursday night at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel in Hollywood, Florida. She had a special seat at the side of the stage and she led the audience in enthusiastic screaming and clapping. This doesn’t look like a marriage in trouble.

DID SOMEBODY FORGET TO CALL MICHAEL JACKSON'S FAN CLUBS?
Filed Under: Concert > London > Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson’s arrival in London to announce a series of concerts there was met with a resounding yawn. Usually his fans are cheering outside his hotel but yesterday there were more press people than fans. And not many of either. Michael and his kids are staying on a whole floor at the Lanesborough and the rest of his entourage of 30 is at the Marriott. The string of summer concerts at an arena are expected to solve Michael’s money problems for awhile. That means tickets will be expensive. Will they sell?
