FRANCES COBAIN: DOES MOTHER KNOW BEST?

Little did musician Isaiah Silva suspect when he married Courtney Love’s daughter Frances Cobain that his mother-in-law and her guard dog would turn on him if the relationship failed. Frances, 24, filed for divorce after two years together and she’s been struggling to get her father’s guitar back. Isaiah claims she gave him Kurt Cobain’s guitar as a wedding present and he wants to keep it. (it could be worth millions) Courtney is ENRAGED and she sicced her obnoxious friend Sam Lufti on Silva. You will recall Lufti is an expert at getting involved with problematic female celebrities like Britney Spears, Amanda Bynes, and now his dear friend Courtney. In fact, he might be the king of restraining orders. He harassed and threatened Silva and his family, urging them to surrender the guitar. Several police reports and restraining orders later, the court will decide who owns the guitar. Hopefully, Frances will distance herself from sleazoid Lufti. As long as there’s a vulnerable female celebrity, the opportunistic Lufti will not go hungry.

We WONDERED why the outspoken Courtney Love, 51, has seemed more subdued and together lately. It so happens she’s been enjoying the company of a successful guy fifteen years younger than she is. Courtney and Nicholas Jarecki met last fall and have been an item ever since. A film director, Nick comes from a wealthy showbiz family – he wrote and directed the Richard Gere movie “Arbitrage.” Courtney and Nick have even been seen JOGGING together – he must be a good influence.

Back in the 90’s, Edward Norton, now 46, burst on the Hollywood scene with multiple Oscar nominations. He was a Yale grad and came from a wealthy East coast family – quite a catch. He costarred in The People vs. Larry Flynt with Courtney Love and a romance developed. In fact, they became ENGAGED! But Norton HATED being recognized as a celebrity and all the press attention they got as a couple. (He LOVES to take the subway.) Courtney tried to tone down her wild ways but Norton’s family didn’t take to her and they eventually split up. Courtney was devastated. Later Ed married Canadian film producer Shauna Robertson (above) and they have a 3 year old son Atlas and a new baby on the way. They both take the subway.

Here’s something you don’t see very often – Courtney Love, 51, and her daughter Frances Cobain, 23, on a shopping spree together in London. At least they found one thing they have in common. For the past few years they’ve been on the outs and Frances avoided her mother. But when they collaborated on the Kurt Cobain documentary they gradually reconciled. The pair were surprised by paparazzi as they returned to Claridge’s Hotel. And that’s quite a haul of designer clothes.

The Nasty Gal store on Melrose had a special opening to promote their new Courtney Love Collection, and the Mistress of Grunge herself turned up for the event. Courtney says that special items she has worn during her career were pulled from her closet as inspiration for the rock n’ roll collection. Her garments are affordable ($48 to $188) but not as disturbing as one would hope. Rather tame, actually. There are baby doll dresses, tutus and lots of black lace and mesh but not much grunge. WHAT’S UP WITH FRANCES COBAIN?

It’s quite a mystery. Frances Cobain, 23, turned up at the HBO Emmy party last weekend in full goth drag – she executive produced the HBO documentary, Montage of Heck, about her father. A London paper has reported that she secretly married her boyfriend of five years, Isaiah Silva recently, and did not invite her mother Courtney Love to the small wedding. On the other hand, Frances has NOT been seen with Silva since January, so that’s strange. Even stranger, she was photographed on the street in Milan on Tuesday, and not with Isaiah. So what’s the deal, Frances?

It’s nice that Frances Cobain, 22, finally reunited with her idiosyncratic mom Courtney Love. They got together at Sundance to introduce the HBO Kurt Cobain documentary. Frances returned to LAX with her longtime boyfriend and fiancée Isaiah Silva, a musician in the group The Rambles. A few years ago she had a controversial but successful art show in LA, and we’re expecting to see more of her work in the future.

COURTNEY LOVE AND LANA DEL REY: A MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN OR HELL?

No WONDER Courtney Love and Lana Del Rey are palling around at the British Fashion Awards. According to Rolling Stone the pair are planning to tour together. Courtney will open for Lana on her Endless Summer concert tour next year – so far eight shows are scheduled and one is at the Hollywood Bowl.
