Stephanie Pratt is seething in silence because she thinks her DUI arrest was a set-up masterminded by her brother Spencer Pratt and “The Hills” MTV producers. Here’s why: Ratings on the show have been dropping and producers and Spencer have been conspiring to create drama and get publicity for the stars. Sunday night they were filming for the show at Empire while Holly celebrated her birthday. The camera lingered on Stephanie drinking and they encouraged her to drink more. When it came time to leave, Stephanie hesitated because she IS careful about driving even if she drinks only a little, but Spencer and the producers assured her she was fine. A cop car was conveniently parked right out front and nabbed her before she drove 20 feet. She was only a fraction over the legal alcohol level. Stephanie spent a miserable night in jail. She believes that her “hitting rock bottom” with her drinking is just a plot created for benefit of the show. She’s privately FURIOUS but doesn’t know what to do.

Humanity has sunk to a new low. Jessica Simpson, still heartbroken over the loss of her dog Daisy to a coyote, has to put up with “pranksters” claiming to have found her missing dog alive. She offered a reward and an email address for information in the slim chance that her dog survived. Cruel people have been leaving messages that they found her dog but they’re all fake. How heartless and brutal can people be? She doesn’t need to be reminded of this tragedy. Jessica doesn’t deserve this – nobody does. Anyone who thinks this is funny should seriously have their head examined.

ROMAN POLANSKI: TIME TO FACE THE MUSIC

We loved “Rosemary’s Baby” as much as anyone, but that doesn’t affect our judgment of director Roman Polanski’s rape of a 13 year old girl. Reading the details of the revolting crime simply make it impossible to excuse – even if more than thirty years have passed. The fact that some of his Hollywood friends would choose to support Polanski’s actions is almost as shocking as the illegal act itself. Forgive and forget? Should we forgive Phillip Garrido also because Jaycee didn’t actually “complain” about being kidnapped – and it happened 18 years ago! Maybe if Garrido were a successful Hollywood director, his friends would have petitioned for his freedom too! That same sense of entitlement allowed the Catholic church to get away with abusing children for many years.

RANDY AND EVI QUAID ARE THE NEW BONNIE & CLYDE

The recently arrested Randy (”Brokeback Mountain”) Quaid and his crazy wife Evi seem to be the new Bonnie & Clyde of Hollywood. Besides running up exorbitant bills at expensive hotels and skipping off without paying, they escaped in a Hertz rental car that was reported missing. Not long ago Evi hired a private detective because she believed that “the same people who killed David Carradine” were after her husband. The detective ended up getting a restraining order against the Quaids – she told radaronline.com that Evi kept her drug use and spending hidden from her husband and the shaken detective feared that Evi might kill Randy and/or herself. We predict rehab is dead ahead for these two.

Here’s a creepy story. The guy above is John Ferguson, 23, and apparently he was inspired by “Weekend at Bernie’s” when his 19 year old buddy died of an apparent drug overdose in South Carolina. He drove around town for hours with the corpse propped up next to him in his car. He visited several friends and while his car was parked outside someone’s house, an observer called police. Before they arrived, Ferguson drove to his grandfather’s house and called the authorities from there. What was he thinking?

PHIL SPECTOR: FROM TEDDY BEAR TO MONSTER

You’d never have guessed back in 1958 when Phil Spector was in the group The Teddy Bears that sang “To Know Him is to Love Him” that he’d turn out to be a murderer. Spector, 70, is back in the news and Lana Clarkson’s friends are not happy about it. Spector was convicted of murdering Lana and is in the process of serving a 19 years to life sentence at Corcoran State Prison. Citing an Associated Press story, Lana’s friends are outraged because Spector seems to be getting special treatment in prison. His 29 year old wife Rachelle is allowed to visit him twice a week and he is permitted to receive his OWN food and not partake in the prison fare. Spector has a private room and he petitioned for email access. This week Spector is being transferred to another prison, oddly named Happy Valley State Prison in Northern California. Erik Menendez is there and whether Spector continues with his “special treatment” remains to be seen.

RIHANNA AND CHRIS BROWN’S PLANS TO HOOK UP LIKE ROMEO & JULIET ARE FOILED

Rihanna and Chris Brown had quite a jolt yesterday when the judge who sentenced Chris to six months of hard labor cleaning up highways and five years probation, flatly REFUSED Rihanna’s request to cancel the stay-away order. This was a real shock because Chris must stay 100 yards away from Rihanna for five years or his probation will be REVOKED and he’ll go straight to jail. Rihanna hoped the judge would drop the order. This enhances the tragic “Romeo & Juliet” aspect of their shattered romance. Insiders feel the former lovers hoped to reunite when things quieted down. Now they don’t have a chance. Smart judge.

WILL LANE GARRISON WORK IN HOLLYWOOD AGAIN?

Lane Garrison is still trying to do all the right things. First of all, he admitted his guilt. While he was in prison for the drunk driving accident that killed a teenage boy and injured two teen girls, he studied and was a model prisoner. We hear that recently he arranged to have separate private meetings with the families of his victims and he apologized profusely and begged for forgiveness. Lane will be on probation for four more years and we can’t help thinking he’s more sincere than Michael Vick. But will Hollywood give the “Prison Break” actor another chance?

ALEC BALDWIN HAS GONE TO BAT FOR MICHAEL VICK

Alec Baldwin’s support for Michael Vick has us perplexed. Animal activist Alec blogged to The Huffington Post that he feels that because Vick is a public figure, he’s being judged by more rigorous standards than other people who abuse animals. Alec claims the owners of meatpacking plants and directors of medical research on animals aren’t as harshly judged because they are out of sight. Baldwin feels that Michael Vick deserves another chance to prove he is a changed man. We take offense to the notion that meat packers and medical researchers can be COMPARED to a bloodthirsty monster like Vick who deliberately tortured and killed domesticated PETS for his own twisted amusement. Some things are not so easy to forgive. Sorry Alec, you struck out on this one.

Snoop was arrested recently after taping The Tonight Show, one of several arrests this year. It won’t surprise anyone that drugs and guns were found at the time of the arrest.

We keep hearing (and seeing!) about Paris Hilton’s smoking habits, such as the time last year when… Paris got into hot water at Koi when a friend at her table lit up a funny smelling cigarette and started puffing. The restaurant manager caught wind of it and made a HUGE scene, screaming at Paris “What kind of people are these? Smoking that is AGAINST THE LAW!” (All heads turned to watch the tongue lashing.) He was particularly outraged because he’s friendly with Paris. The guy kicked everyone at the table OUT and pulled Paris aside for a stern lecture. After he yelled at her, naughty Paris apologized and he allowed her to stay – she sat down with some better behaved friends.

In this 1997 Whodunit, everyone was surprised when these two macho guys were cast in the same action movie. Setsiders expected them to be highly competitive and not at all friendly. Surprise! They got along like a house a fire – partly because they share the same taste in drugs – the stronger the better. Many nights were spent combining crack and prescription drugs washed down with plenty of liquor, but they somehow managed to finish the movie without incident. Now the two guys are carousing night after night in after hours clubs in Hollywood and everyone assumes they’re chasing women. But guess again! Some not-so-happy friends are saying the guys are involved with EACH OTHER and it won’t be long before their women find out!

In 1998, the gorgeous Anna Nicole was provocatively seated in the lobby drinking glass after glass of champagne when she started “harrassing” a Middle Eastern man. According to a witness, she loudly taunted him with lewd remarks – the least of which was “C’mere baby and gimme some lovin’.”
Other hotel guests complained about her behavior and the bartender cut her off. THAT made her furious and she stormed out to get her car. The valet offered her a limo and suggested she shouldn’t drive. Irate Anna threw a tantrum and the bellman rushed over to calm her. She punched him in the nose. Hotel security had to wrestle her face first into the mud to get her under control until cops came, cuffed her, and took her away!

Paris Hilton is spinning out of control: She’s recklessly throwing herself at men and smooching guys in public. She was once a polite well mannered girl but now she’s arrogant, loud, and demanding. She’s always reminding people “Do you know who I AM?” when she butts to the front of bathroom lines. She’s greedier than ever about freebies. Promoters wince when they see her coming. She dumped the once beloved Tinkerbell with her parents. He was cast off like last week’s handbag. She’s got plenty of money but can’t get her boyfriend Niarchos to marry her – or anyone else so far. She showed up at Hef’s recent birthday party in an absurd tastelessly skimpy outfit and onlookers whispered that her body looked bad- out of shape, bumpy, in need of the gym. She’s partying more than ever till all hours. Is she headed for rehab?

2004: Boy George isn’t the first celebrity to clean the streets – Just a few years ago, Diana Ross along with another woman, both clad in orange vests and work clothes, were seen picking up trash in front of the Pavilions market in West Hollywood! The pair had a large trash can on wheels that they were pulling – it contained a broom, rake and poker to pick up papers. Community service Diana wore painter style jeans and a baseball cap with her massive hair tucked into a bandanna under the cap and big sunglasses. The women were chatting and Diana was mostly pointing out trash for the other girl to pick up. (Typical!) Eventually store employees – it’s a gay neighborhood -noticed her and came outside to stare, to Diana’s embarrassment.

Hollywood Whodunit -2003: This once promising sexy TV star was on a top show but his ego got the best of him. He left the series, expecting to become a movie star. It didn’t happen and he forever regretted giving up the financial security of his big money series. He started using prescription painkillers and booze to ease the pain. Now the guy’s so broke he moves from one rented house to another and stiffs the landlords. Friends try to be supportive but at his last birthday party he slept through the whole celebration.

While TMZ is reporting on Mel Gibson’s drunk and hateful interaction with the police, another story comes back to us. In 2000, Mel was dining on steamed clams with a few buddies at The Old Place in Malibu and he just couldn’t wait for the bartender to get around to refilling his glass. Much to the amusement of other diners, Mel agilely leaped over the bar and refilled his own beverage. But he’s not all bad. He tipped the server a hundred bucks.

Although he got a liquor store closed down the last time he flaunted the law, it seems no one stops Jack from doing what he wants – illegal or not. Jack openly smoked two joints before he left. He knows he can get away with it and he does.
