ELIZABETH SMART USES HER EXPERIENCE TO HELP OTHERS

It’s gratifying to see Elizabeth Smart, 26, looking so together and doing good things. You will remember Elizabeth was kidnapped from her Salt Lake City home in 2002 at the age of 14, brainwashed, and held captive under appalling circumstances for 9 months before she was rescued (by a woman.) She has made an amazing recovery, and appeared as the keynote speaker at The Rape Crisis Center 40th anniversary dinner in Las Vegas. She’s very active as an advocate for victims of sexual abuse. We’re happy for her.

TOMMY CHONG GOT WHAT HE WANTED

Tommy Chong, 76, is delighted with California’s liberal marijuana laws because he spent nine months in prison for distributing drug paraphernalia (bongs) back in 2003. A former hippie, he remains an activist and wore an old t shirt to dance practice that says “I am not a criminal – end marijuana prohibition.” Do you suppose he smokes before he competes on Dancing with the Stars?

STEPHEN COLLINS: THE CRIME NO ONE EVER FORGETS

The shock of the Stephen Collins child molestation charges still has Hollywood reeling. He was always a soft spoken guy and has such an innocent face! It seems even more disturbing because he’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing. We don’t understand why reruns of his series, 7th Heaven, have been taken off the air! Why should the rest of that cast be denied residuals? Many more details about these lurid accusations will soon be revealed. Stephen’s career is OVER no matter how this ends. We’ll never understand why men do these things…

IS ANYONE SORRY TO SEE THE GUIDICES LOCKED UP?

We like to think that justice has been served at last! All that bankruptcy, bank, wire, and mail fraud (not to mention tax fraud) finally caught up with Joe and Teresa Guidice. Apparently their Real Housewives reality show made them feel invincible and inspired them to flaunt wealth they didn’t have. Joe is going away for 41 months and Teresa was sentenced to 15 months. Plus, they have a lot of money to pay back. The sentences could have been worse – the judge was kind to allow Teresa to serve her time first, starting in January, so there will always be a parent home with their four daughters. No matter what they say, we get the feeling that Joe and Teresa are not sorry for what they DID – they’re sorry they got CAUGHT.

RIHANNA IS OK WITH SAUDI ARABIAN CRIMES AGAINST WOMEN

We find the fact that Rihanna appeared on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar Arabia unsettling to say the least. The often scantily clad singer insisted on dressing in accordance with the customs of the country. Does that mean she RESPECTS the customs of a country that DENIES equal rights for women? Has Rihanna LOST HER MIND? Saudi women are covered from head to toe and need permission from a “male guardian” to open a bank account or visit a doctor. Driving is out of the question. They even have separate entrances for men and women in their own homes! Actually Saudi crimes against women are too numerous to mention – Rihanna should be ashamed of herself for “respecting” these diabolical “customs.”

GARY GLITTER DRESSES UP TO GO TO COURT

Gary Glitter got all dressed up to go to court in London where he’s being charged with revolting crimes related to having sex with and drugging underage girls. He was quite a dandy back in the 70’s when he recorded “Rock and Roll” (video above) which became a sports anthem. The glam rocker’s career fizzled in the 90’s when he had criminal convictions for possession of child pornography and child sexual abuse. One can only imagine what he got away with at the height of his fame. He’s now a registered sex offender and probably on his way to prison.

Crimes and Misdemeanors Disorderly Conduct Edie Brickell Paul Simon

PAUL SIMON AND EDIE BRICKELL’S EMBARRASSING INCIDENT TURNED OUT OK!

We’ve never seen anyone get out of an embarrassing situation more gracefully than Paul Simon and his wife Edie Brickell. The husband and wife were arrested for disorderly conduct when they had a domestic dispute at their Connecticut home. During an argument, Paul tried to leave and Edie gave him a shove to stop him. He shoved back and called 911. (She’s six inches taller than him and at 47, 25 years younger.) Injuries were very minor and they were both apologetic but cops had to file a report. Later in court there was no name-calling – only hand-holding. Edie said “It was my fault – got my feelings hurt and picked a fight with my husband.” Paul insisted the whole incident was HIS fault. “I hurt her deeply and got what I deserved.” They walked out together still holding hands. How civilized.

Acting Coach Crimes and Misdemeanors Oscar Pistorius Reeva Steenkamp

OSCAR PISTORIUS AND HIS ACTING COACH: GUILTY AS CHARGED!

How appropriate that Oscar Pistorius needed acting lessons to appear teary-eyed and sympathetic in court! According to the NY Post, a former South African Times columnist, Jani Allan, wrote an open letter to Oscar claiming she heard from a reliable source that Oscar had an acting coach for his court appearances. Pistorius is accused of shooting and killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp while she took refuge in their bathroom. Jani says his claim that he mistook her for an intruder is not only preposterous, but it implies that it would have been acceptable to shoot an intruder that way. Jani went on to say she always suspected Oscar was not sportsmanlike because he’d have angry tantrums when he felt he wasn’t fairly treated at sport events. Leave it to a woman to size up this loathsome criminal!

Oscar Pistorius has had a grueling week answering questions about Reeva Steenkamp, the girlfriend he murdered, but don’t forget- after hours he can relax in the company of his NEW 19 year old sweetheart, Leah Skye Malan. (She’s a paramedic student.) He’d rather no one knew about the new girl he met in December – when they go out he has to wear a disguise. But that doesn’t stop her from being supportive to the killer through “a difficult time.” Even more shocking, Her PARENTS like him and welcome him to their home! Since the UK paper The Sun revealed their relationship, Leah has closed down her social media sites. Maybe she was bombarded by insults from outraged women!

ROD STEWART: THIS IS WHY PEOPLE MOVE TO LOS ANGELES

Rod Stewart and his wife Penny Lancaster and their little dog had a relaxing lunch al fresco at a local café and enjoyed the warm weather. Rod looks like he’s dressed to play tennis. He was probably amused to hear that a robber wearing a Rod Stewart mask (who knew there was such a thing?) attempted to hold up a discount store in the UK. The clerk shrieked when she saw the mask and the gun and the crook panicked and ran away. He was later caught.
