SOMEBODY with a camera was peeking in the window of the fabulous Golyester vintage clothing store on La Brea and they caught Dita Von Teese shopping. It’s nice to see a celebrity who enjoys shopping and doesn’t only wear freebies. She took her time picking out summery sundresses, flouncy skirts, jewelry. and hats. Dita walked out with several shopping bags and loaded them into her BMW convertible.

This is what makes living in Hollywood so much fun. You never know who’s going to walk out of the grocery store. Dita Von Teese lives up to her glamour image even when she shopping at her local market. We never thought we’d see her pushing a shopping cart- ESPECIALLY since she started dating a French COUNT! Page Six says she’s been seeing Count Louie-Marie de Castelbajac, the actor son of the fashion designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac. If they got married, she might become Countess Dita Von Teese!

The Coachella music festival brought out lots of fashionistas but sky high stilettos just didn’t work on the grass. Chloe Sevigny and Dita Von Teese solved the style dilemma by wearing sensible shoes for a change. Dita dug some Keds out of the back of her closet and Chloe actually rocked the black socks and sandals look.

Amazing things happen in LA. Former “Details” editor Annie Flanders, event planner Bryan Rabin, and designer Michael Schmidt, hosted a launch for the Stephen Sprouse book at the Chateau Marmont and it drew an eclectic fashiony crowd. Courtney Love behaved herself and Tatum O’Neal looked relaxed and happy. Where else but LA can you see Dita Von Teese and 50’s B movie queen Mamie Van Doren in the same photo? Dita’s a good sport, Mamie looks hot, and the girl in the green dress is burlesque dancer Ava Garter.

Dita Von Teese is still in Paris, so she was sorely missed at the Vintage Fashion Expo in Santa Monica last week. Dita is a popular and discerning shopper at the show. Other celebrities looking for fabulous vintage clothing were Mad Men’s sexy redhead Christina Hendricks (she bought vintage lingerie,) Marisa Tomei, Lisa Bonet and her boyfriend Jason Momoa and their baby, and, of all people, Larry David. According to a vendor, Larry just walked around talking on his cellphone and seemed oblivious to the shopping frenzy around him.

You don’t see many women who look like this walking down Robertson Blvd. Dita Von Teese has created a style all her own and she never seems to deviate, no matter how much effort it takes. The Vintage Fashion Expo at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium is the place to be this weekend. The event always attracts well known designers like Marc Jacobs and Betsey Johnson seeking inspiration, plus plenty of celebrities who love vintage clothing through the decades. Marilyn Manson met his future – now exwife – Dita Von Teese at this show. It’s a great big beautiful room loaded with nostalgia and amazing wearable stuff you’ll never see at a mall. (Hint: Halloween costumes!) You never know who might be ogling vintage watches next to you – could be an Olsen twin or Jason Schwartzman.

Here are two of our favorite designers backstage at Jean Paul Gaultier’s show in Paris. Jean Paul is still a brilliant innovator and he knows an inspiring female when he sees one. Dita Von Teese, who has her own lingerie line for Wonderbra, is looking VERY Joan Crawford-ish in this photo. It’s those squarish bangs and pronounced eyebrows that remind us of Mildred Pierce. Burlesque queen Dita Von Teese must be the hottest property in the fashion business. She seems to be spokesperson for a LOT of products. Latest of her acquisitions is a deal with Wonderbra. The Wonderbra was the rage of the early 90’s – they were so ubiquitous that people used to joke that landfills were piled high with Wonderbras and Evian bottles. The company wants to boost their image again so they hired Dita to design some retro-inspired lingerie and she’ll be introducing her collection in Paris next month.

NEW YEAR'S EVE WITH DITA VON TEESE IS FULL OF SURPRISES

Dita Von Teese has to be the most glamorous celebrity around today, but on New Year’s Eve she loves to let her hair down. No fancy stuffy parties for her – she told the LA Times she likes to “get wild.” Last year she invited her friends over to her new house in Hollywood and she went out and bought $500 worth of Marie Callender’s cream pies – coconut cream, lemon meringue, etc. Every guest was given big trash bags and told to create an outfit out of them. Champagne flowed as they had a trashbag runway fashion show (we’re guessing she has lots of gay friends) accompanied by their favorite songs. At the end everyone took a pie in the face from their best friend and it became a wild free-for-all. A lot of guests told Dita it was the best party they’d ever been to. Dita said she still found traces of pie in obscure corners of her house months later.

We never would have guessed that Dita Von Teese’s fashion inspiration was Madonna! Dita describes Madonna as “the only modern star daring enough to experiment in fashion.” When Dita was a young girl she fell in love with the glamour and elegance of the 30’s and 40’s. She credits Madonna with making her realize that she didn’t HAVE to be a blonde beach bunny or a Playboy model. Madonna gave Dita the courage to achieve her distinctive retro look and she’s showing it off here at Crimson night club.

What do Kylie Minogue and Dita Von Teese have in common? Dior, of course. They both turned up for the Dior fashion show in New York. These two are quite the opposite fashion-wise. Kylie’s a modern singer with disco overtones, while Dita the burlesque dancer maintains a classic old style glamour. Dita knows what looks great on her – this is an amazing color- if she weren’t an entertainer she’d probably be a fierce designer or stylist.
