This handsome Cleveland-born Marine eventually became the host “The Price Is Right.” Yep, it’s Drew Carey, and did you know he made some changes in the rules that Bob Barker set up for the show? Drew allows the models to talk, and he lifted the bans on leather goods, wool coats, and imported cars that Barker initiated. Carey is the perfect game show host because he’s so generous in real life. Recently he had lunch at Kokomo cafe on Beverly, and tipped the server the usual $100.

George Hamilton might be disgruntled, but we are delighted that Drew Carey was chosen to host The Price is Right. Drew is a fascinating guy. He’s got a well documented penchant for strippers, and he throws around money like Frank Sinatra. No kidding. He’s famous for never leaving less than a $100 tip – even for a cup of coffee. When his Drew Carey series was on the air, his bosses presented him with a new Porsche as a gift. Drew turned around and handed the keys to the new Miata he had recently bought to a production assistant who had no car. He’s THAT generous. And a cool guy.

2003: Who would have guessed Drew Carey would be such a softy when it comes to decorating his bedroom? A visitor to his hillside home tells us the ceiling and walls of the bedroom are painted blue with white fluffy clouds. His bedcovers and carpet are a deep green grass color and a white picket fence is painted on the walls around the room. To top it off he has an assortment of stuffed large fuzzy sheep standing around! Not exactly a seductive boudoir – but it gets you in the mood for sleep.

We have fond memories of Drew Carey – and so does just about every waiter who ever served him. In fact, they fall all over each other to get to him first. The hefty TV star recently dined at Arnie Morton’s with a female companion described as “a petite dishwater blonde and pretty – not the amazonian stripper type he used to prefer. ” The fun couple had steaks and champagne and the dinner tab was $250. Drew, always a big tipper, left a TIP of $400 – that’s $650 total. And he no longer has a series!
