ELVIS’S GRANDSON BENJAMIN KEOUGH HAS MUSICAL ASPIRATIONS
Filed Under: Benjamin Keough > Elvis > Lisa Marie Presley > London > Priscilla Presley

Three generations of Presleys hit the club scene in London this week. Lisa Marie Presley has been in town collaborating and performing with Richard Hawley and she brought along her mom Priscilla and her son Benjamin Keough, 17, (Riley’s brother) for a night on the town. (Lisa looks very strange.) Ben is recording an album and some people think he resembles his grandfather Elvis. We see a LITTLE Elvis in him, but not enough. Priscilla’s kids and grandchildren can do pretty much anything they want, since the money from Elvis’s estate just keeps pouring in.

LISA MARIE PRESLEY HAS A NEW MUSIC PARTNER – U.K. ROCKABILLY RICHARD HAWLEY
Filed Under: Comeback > Elvis > Lisa Marie Presley > Richard Hawley

Rockabilly singer Richard Hawley was performing in London with his band when he announced that he had been writing songs with a “female singer” and brought her onstage. The audience was flabbergasted when Lisa Marie Presley popped onstage and sang a bluesy song called ”Weary.” Sheffield born Hawley, who has been called a “modern day Roy Orbison,” has been collaborating with Lisa in preparation for her music comeback. Lisa gave birth to twin daughters a year ago. Richard has the same penchant for “dressing up” that young Elvis did, and bemoans the proliferation of men in track suits.

THE SHIRT OFF ELVIS’S BACK IS UP FOR GRABS

There’s something about a garment worn by a celebrity that makes it seem much more desirable and personal than most memorabilia. Especially if it was worn in a movie or photo. A red ultrasuede pullover samba shirt (with ¾ length sleeves) worn by Elvis Presley in a 1963 publicity photo for RCA is up for auction in Chicago. Leslie Hindman auctioneers are offering a group of Elvis items (including some of his hair) from a private collector. They predict the shirt will go for around $4000 – we think it will sell for more.

ELVIS’S GRANDDAUGHTER RILEY IS CAST IN “THE RUNAWAYS”
Filed Under: Dakota Fanning > Elvis > Kristen Stewart > Riley Keough > The Runaways

Elvis’s granddaughter Danielle Riley Keough, 20, (as she is now known) was modeling for awhile, but she recently got a big break and was cast in “The Runaways” with Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning. Dakota is playing band member Cherie Curry and Danielle plays her sister Marie. (Remember, Danielle was once stepdaughter to Michael Jackson!) It’ll be interesting to see if Danielle has any acting talent.

AT LAST! ELVIS WILL HAVE A GRANDSON NAMESAKE!
Filed Under: Baby Talk > Elvis > Lisa Marie Presley > Twins

Hugely pregnant Lisa Marie Presley is about to pop any time now to her great relief, and the twins she’s expecting are a girl and a BOY! A big deal, because this son will carry on her dad Elvis’s name. No, she’s not planning to name her son Elvis, but his MIDDLE name will be Elvis. So far, that’s the only name she’s discussed. Let’s hope the kids get a lot of Elvis’s genes.

2000 YEAR OLD ELVIS STATUE UP FOR AUCTION
While we're loosely on the subject of Elvis - Bonham’s in London is auctioning off this decorative architectural ornament that bears a striking resemblance to The King! The marble statue is over 1800 years old and we didn’t know that pompadour hairstyles even existed before the fifties! It’s expected to sell for around $50,000, if there are any wealthy Elvis fans out there.Posted by hoodlum on July 26, 2008
ELVIS IN HIS PRIME

These black and white rarely seen photos of Elvis turned up in a London newspaper. They were taken by a guy named Alfred Wertheimer, who was hired by RCA to follow Elvis around for a few weeks right before he became a big star. He snapped around 4000 candid shots – most of which never saw the light of day. When Elvis hit it big, Colonel Parker had to approve every photo released and he was VERY particular. (The top photo featured Elvis reading comics on a train from Memphis to New York, in the middle photo Elvis is pretending to strangle his date while one of his Memphis buddies watches, the third photo is Elvis on his Harley.)

ELVIS'S DAUGHTER LISA MARIE IS BRINGING ANOTHER SCIENTOLOGIST INTO THE WORLD
Filed Under: Elvis > Lisa Marie Presley > Pregnancy > Scientology

Nobody’s been scrutinizing Lisa Marie Presley’s tummy for a potential pregnancy and wouldn’t you know it – the Enquirer says she is expecting a baby. Apparently Lisa suffered a miscarriage when she married her current husband Michael Lockwood two years ago and she’s justifiably nervous about expecting again at the age of 40. We’re not thrilled about the prospect of having another Scientologist brought into the world, but maybe the kid will be as cute as her model daughter Riley. (above right)

LISA MARIE PRESLEY IS NOT TURNING INTO HER FATHER
Filed Under: Elvis > Lisa Marie Presley

This recent picture of Lisa Marie Presley and her mother Priscilla is certainly interesting and revealing in many ways, but we don’t understand the big fuss over Lisa Marie. She’s being accused of looking overweight and bloated like her father Elvis in his last days. That’s absurd. We don’t happen to think she looks bloated OR chubby. That smudged eye makeup isn’t particularly flattering and if we’re not mistaken, she has a suspicious not-so-friendly look on her face, but that’s nothing new.

ELVIS: WE CAN'T STOP LOVING YOU
Filed Under: Elvis > James Caan

We can never get enough of Elvis and now we have a new book to look forward to that promises a truly inside glimpse at his many idiosyncrasies. We first met Sheila Caan (she was Sheila Ryan in those days) when she plopped herself down on a lounge chair next to us at the pool at 999 Doheny Drive . It was the height of swinging Hollywood in the 70’s and this was the hippest high-rise building near Sunset Strip. Sheila was a naturally pretty blonde who was DATING Elvis Presley! Her romance with Elvis lasted from ‘73 to ‘75 when she met and married James Caan. Now she’s written a juicy book about her time with Elvis called FAME ON ME and she’s almost ready to shop it around to publishers. I asked Sheila to slip me a few tidbits about Elvis that I didn’t already know. She told me he was shy, and got nervous on first dates. She said he loved Pink Panther movies and ate something called “hamburger steak” every night for a year. Best of all, she revealed he was proud of his “webbed toes” – he thought he had them because he was born a twin (His brother Jesse died at birth.) WE always thought webbed toes came from inbreeding – as in marrying one’s cousin! Whatever – we can’t wait to get our hands on FAME ON ME!

PASS THE FRIED PEANUT BUTTER AND BANANA SANDWICHES
Filed Under: Elvis > Political Foibles
Here’s a world leader we can sink our teeth into. Of course we’re talking about Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi, seen here with our President Bush, at Graceland, admiring Elvis’ Jungle Room. Koizumi, an Elvis fanatic, was permitted to try on a pair of Elvis’ OWN shades, and burst into song. The Prime Minister had a statue -not of himself but of his idol Elvis – erected in the Harajuku district in Tokyo. We’d love to get our hands on the limited edition CD of Elvis songs that Koizumi released in 2001. Anybody know where we can find one?
