ENTOURAGE’S REX LEE CONTEMPLATES EMMY FREEBIES

There seems to be a lot of guilt involved in gifting suites nowadays, so the “givers” are sweetening the deal by donating to charities. The London Hotel featured a pre-Emmys gifting suite and celebrities like Rex Lee (who plays the long –suffering Lloyd on “Entourage”) were invited to fill up a designer bag with luxury items to be auctioned off for the charity of his choice. Nice, but we’re guessing those celebs didn’t walk away empty handed.

ALYSSA MILANO SAW THE HUMOR IN IT
Filed Under: Alyssa Milano > Emmys > Fashion > Mistaken Identity

For some people, the most amusing thing about the Emmys was the misidentification of Alyssa Milano. On the red carpet Alyssa was credited with wearing the worst outfit of the night and it wasn’t even HER! (photo right) An actress named Christina de Rosa was sporting the white confection and did nothing to correct the case of mistaken identity. The next day Alyssa’s publicist cleared up the mistake and Alyssa (photo left) had a sense of humor about it. She told John Carney on KMOX, “You know you’ve made it big when you can be on the worst dressed list for the Emmys without even showing up!”

ALYSSA MILANO GOES SOUTH OF THE BORDER?
Filed Under: Alyssa Milano > Embarrassing! > Emmys > Fashion > What's Your Excuse?
At first, when someone told us this was Alyssa Milano at the HBO Emmy party we were horrified and convinced it was an impersonator. Surely Alyssa would not dress up like a demented cha cha dancer! It just didn’t LOOK like the Alyssa we remember. If not an impersonator, we suspected she had been subjected to a serious and terrifying makeover- perhaps including plastic surgery and dentistry. We’ve always found Alyssa to be naturally cute and not overbearing. Sad to say, it really WAS her and there seems to be no excuse for this flouncy get-up.NEWSFLASH UPDATE !! Our first instincts were right! We are thrilled to announce that this is NOT Alyssa Milano! Just this morning channel 5 discussed “Alyssa’s fashion disaster” – they were fooled too. This woman has been identified as Christina de Rosa. It’s a relief!

TYRA BANKS' DESIGNER DIDN'T DO HER ANY FAVORS
Filed Under: Emmys > Fashion > Tyra Banks

Whoa! Tyra Banks must not have practiced posing in the mirror wearing this dress before she left home – she made all the wrong moves for photographers. This angle combined with the overdone gown makes Tyra look much larger than she really is. (But the color looks great on her.) She’s on the red carpet here for the Daytime Emmys and the fact that she carried home an award more than makes up for any bad photos.

The impossibly beautiful Heidi Klum celebrated Project Runway’s THREE Emmy nominations by paying a visit to the Neil George Hair Salon in Beverly Hills. This is our favorite reality show and we hope it wins this year. Now Heidi has to start thinking about what to WEAR to the award show – she’ll have plenty of options to pick from.

NO CLOSE-UPS PLEASE!

Warren Beatty and Annette Bening are Hollywood royalty by anybody’s standards and people seem to love seeing them out in public together. When it comes to dealing with fans they are quite different. At the Emmys, Annette was bombarded by fans asking to be photographed with her. She graciously and patiently said yes to everyone. On the other hand, Warren said NO to everyone. Annette just shrugged off her husband’s stubborness with “That’s just the way he is.” Actually, Warren is super self -conscous about LIGHTING. Whenever he does an interview or appearance he has elaborate flattering lighting arranged to his specification. He doesn’t want to look old. Some joke that the highly political Warren will never run for office simply because he couldn’t control his lighting all the time.

L.A. CONFIDENTIAL
Filed Under: Bai Ling > Emmys > Lisa Edelstein
Left: Here’s Lisa Edelstein (she plays Dr Lisa Cuddy, the hospital administrator on House) and her mom at the L.A Confidential pre-Emmy party at The Cabana Club. She’s WAY more glamorous in person than her TV character. Lisa and her family just got back from a vacation in Israel visiting relatives and she was surprised and flattered when papparrazi picked up her scent there and followed her everywhere. Her family was very impressed!
Right: At the same party I started pondering “Are all the photogenic darlings in Hollywood getting record deals these days? First Paris, followed by Nicole Richie, of course, and now Bai Ling. Bai introduced her record producer named Poet (left in photo) and he told me the music she’s recording is “rather goth , almost spoken word- like Portishead.”
I don’t’ care what those mags say – I get a huge kick out of the way Bai Ling dresses. She livens up every party.

ACCEPT THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK
Filed Under: Emmys > Swag Bags

It’s already started. The Goody Bag dilemma with the IRS is heating up and the upcoming Emmys are the first big show to have to deal with it. All presenters expecting the bag of gifts and certificates (don’t kid yourself – it’s the reason most of them show up!) have just received a document from the TV academy that they MUST sign and return before bags are given. The paper states that the gift bag receiver is aware that there might be a”tax problem” in the future and they are accepting the bag at their own risk. The IRS hasn’t decided what to do because most of the individual gifts in the bag are under $10,000, and not subject to taxes, but the bag value can TOTAL up to $40,000 or more. So who pays the taxes? Not the Housewives, we bet.
