ALEC BALDWIN HOPES TO IMPRESS HIS FAMILY WITH AN EMMY

It’s complicated when Alec Baldwin and his family come to Beverly Hills. Alec, 59, took his wife Hilaria, 33, and their three kids, Carmen, Leonardo, and Rafael, along with two strollers and two nannies, out for lunch and a walk. Alec is nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Emmy for his take-off of Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live. The whole family came to LA to cheer him on and he and Hilaria will hit a few pre-Emmy parties. Alec’s “Trump” character is already booked to open the new season of SNL.

PRYANKA CHOPRA: BEST DRESSED AT THE EMMYS

Wow. We didn’t realize the Indian actress (and former Miss World) Pryanka Chopra is one of the highest paid actresses in the world. The Quantico star was a KNOCKOUT on the red carpet. Now THAT is an evening gown! Perfectly fitted, dazzling color, with yards and yards of filmy fabric. (A note to the Kardashians: MORE fabric is more glamorous than LESS!) She looks spectacular.

JULIANNE HOUGH WORE A WEDDING DRESS TO THE EMMYS

Okay, it was the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, not the televised Emmys, but that still doesn’t explain the shotgun wedding dress. It’s white lace and unmistakably Victorian. Julianne Hough IS engaged to Canadian hockey player Brooks Laich, so maybe she’s giving the gown a trial run. Not only does it look like a wedding dress, but it looks like a COUNTRY WESTERN Tammy Wynette wedding dress. Either way, it’s not Julianne’s best look. Her special “Grease” did win four awards. This season she’s graduated to judge on Dancing with the Stars.

LENA DUNHAM AT THE EMMYS: PRETTY DRESS ON THE WRONG PERSON

124902PCN_EMMlenacut

We needed a few days to think about Lena Dunham’s Emmy outfit. The fashion press and Twitter commenters immediately lambasted her for daring to dress up “like Bo Peep.” Polite journalists described her look as “interesting.” Actually her Giambattista Valli dress was quite beautiful – it was a sweet little pink silk blouse tucked into a huge frothy layered pink skirt. But Lena didn’t show it off properly. She simply had the wrong body for that ensemble. It would have been dramatic on a tall skinny model but Lena is too round and short waisted for that particular look. Still, it was a brave choice and we give her credit for not wanting to look like everyone else at the event. (Above, Lena and boyfriend Jack Antonoff on the red carpet)

SOFIA VERGARA: THE KARDASHIAN EFFECT STRIKES AGAIN!

AG042879_04sofiacut

Forgive Sofia Vergara for her unfortunate appearance onstage at the Emmys standing on a revolving pedestal, showing off her bodily charms while the Academy president made a boring speech. Sofia denied it was sexist, but she has, in fact, fallen under the influence of what is known as “The Kardashian Effect.” It’s brainwashing. This effect causes women who HAVE ample butts, to stick them OUT, (like J.Lo, Beyonce, etc) without a thought to propriety. If they DON’T have a prominent posterior, women are encouraged BUY one so they can flaunt it, (Like Nicki Minaj, Iggy Azalea, etc) and it is socially acceptable! The Kardashians have compromised civilized behavior!

EVEN HIS NEIGHBORS APPRECIATE BRYAN CRANSTON

The morning after he won Best Actor in a Drama Series at the Emmys for his “simultaneously loathsome and sympathetic” character on Breaking Bad, Bryan Cranston walked down the street alone to his local breakfast spot. He returned home to find that his neighbors from across the street had surprised him: they left balloons tied to his gate, and a note that read “Congratulations Bryan! Love, the Porters!” Sweet…

EAT YOUR HEART OUT, ROBIN THICKE!

It’s nice to see Paula Patton, 38 out again and ready to have a good time. We haven’t seen much of her since she declared her separation from her egotistical husband Robin Thicke, and he started bombarding her with pleas for another chance. He’s finally given up, and the couple put their house up for sale, so it’s unlikely they will get back together – although no divorce papers have been filed yet. Paula looks gorgeous as usual, and we’re betting she had a good time at Craig’s. She’s currently filming “Mission Impossible 5.” You really blew it, Robin!

JULIA ROBERTS: NONCHALANT AT THE EMMYS

AG042876_01julicut

Julia Roberts looks like the most relaxed person at the Emmys and we love her for it. Her cute cocktail length dress shows off her long legs and her loose hair looks casual and comfortable. Somehow by not wearing a long extravagant gown she doesn’t seem to be shilling so obviously for some design company. Anyway, it’s a refreshing change.

MINNIE DRIVER IS THE HAPPIEST EMMY NOMINEE OF ALL

AG038717_01minniecut

Minnie Driver is beyond thrilled about her Best Actress Emmy nomination for her Lifetime movie Return to Zero. It’s very special to her because her little movie ran out of money and was saved by Kickstarter. It’s about an expecting couple whose child dies in the womb and distributors turned it down until Lifetime stepped up. She says walking the Emmys red carpet will be a pleasure. Today she walked with her animated six year old boy Henry to the supermarket in Malibu. Like January Jones, she refuses to name her child’s father.

WINNING AN EMMY WAS GOOD FOR BOTH MICHAEL DOUGLAS AND HIS SON CAMERON

emmy-awards-michael-douglas_612x380-e1379936053546

Usually it’s annoying when actors who win awards bring up unrelated self-serving subjects in their acceptance speeches. When Michael Douglas collected his Emmy for “Behind the Candelabra” he complained about his son Cameron’s inhumane treatment in prison. (Cameron is serving time for drug charges) His son had been in solitary confinement for two years and wasn’t allowed visitors. Douglas said “I’m questioning the system.” His remarks may have done some good. According to RadarOnline, Cameron is no longer in solitary. Indeed, it did seem like horrible and extreme punishment for drug offenses. We’re happy for Michael AND Cameron.
