Eva Mendes’ new ad for Calvin Klein underwear has caused a disturbance in a New York neighborhood. This overheated ad covers the entire side of a building on the corner of Houston Street and Lafayette Street in Soho. SOME of the people who live nearby say it’s too much and want the steamy ad taken down. Others enjoy looking at it.

Eva Mendes must be adored in Italy because she looks like the ideal image of a bigger than life Italian movie star, reminiscent of Sophia Loren. She’s in Portofino, Italy with designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, and her rarely seen filmmaker boyfriend George Gargurevich. Eva and George are attending the Giffoni Film Festival.

We can’t help but notice how absolutely great Eva Mendes and Scarlett Johansson look at a London event publicizing a comic inspired movie called “The Spirit.” These are two of our hardest working young actresses and they are a credit to Hollywood and their profession. And the party doesn’t start until they arrive.

Much of the amazing cast of the updated version of “The Women” showed up at the premier located, ironically, at Mann’s theater in Hollywood. From left are Jada Pinkett, Annette Bening, Debra Messing, Meg Ryan, Eva Mendes, and Debi Mazar. A superb collection of acting talent. There’s not a single man in this cast and we can hardly wait to see how they pull that off. Not even a cab driver or doorman?

We are sick and tired of hearing beautiful actresses and models claim they were geeky and unpopular in high school. We’re not buying it. Anybody who went to high school with Angelina Jolie or Michelle Pfeiffer will probably tell you everyone was in awe of their beauty early on. If Eva Mendes ever tries to claim she was an average looking nerd in high school we intend to shut her up by showing this high school photo from Herbert Hoover High in Glendale, California. Pretty hot, don’t you think?

Eva Mendes is step by step, without fanfare, on her way to becoming one of the most important actresses in Hollywood. And she’s doing it without cheap publicity. Besides being fabulous to look at, she shows up for work on time and gets the job done. Here she is at the opening of the D&G store on Madison Avenue. It’s unusual to see her with a bodyguard because we’ve been at several parties with her and she she’s generally on her own and very receptive and friendly.

Eva Mendes just gets better all the time. We love that she’s such a down to earth girl, but she’s also capable of being a drop dead glamorous screen goddess like Rita Hayworth. Above she’s partying in New York, where she’s currently filming The Women. (As we told you, she’s playing the coveted role Joan Crawford originated.)
