Halle Berry took her mother to lunch at Il Piccolino on Robertson and she knows how to get prompt and excellent service from the valet parking attendant. Halle tipped $20 and she WASN’T driving a Bentley or Lamborghini. She doesn’t mind wearing the same jacket twice in one week, either.

Apparently she doesn’t mind being looked at, because this is how Cher struts through the airport – in a white cowgirl hat and boyfriend jeans. It’s not one of our favorite fashion moments, but Cher herself looks great – even if her face is tanner than her feet. Speaking of boyfriends, she WAS seen this summer in Malibu with her 24 years younger biker boyfriend Tim Medved. – so THAT might still be happening. Good for her.

Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen work hard for the money. The girls have yet another clothing line – this is an affordable sporty collection called Olsenboye – aimed at teens for JC Penny. They’re promoting the new line in a pink ice cream truck that’s parked in a different NYC neighborhood every day. Clothes are both shown and sold from the truck and the money goes to charity. The nominations for the American Music Awards brought out some noteworthy looks. Paula Abdul seems to be everywhere these days and it looks like she rummaged through her closet and resurrected her 1980’s “Forever Your Girl” look. We could swear we’ve seen that hat and jacket and jewelry before. But she still wears it well. Adam Lambert seems to be trying to finagle a role in one of the “Twilight” movies – he ‘s got the sly vampire look down pat.

Who didn’t have the sense to pull up his pants before he jumped into his SUV? It’s Chris Brown, of course, arriving at LAX. He’s happy because the single he released after his arrest “I Can Transform Ya,” is gradually gaining velocity and moving up the music charts. Judging by his front view, you’d never guess his pants are so saggy.

You’ve gotta give Pamela Anderson some credit here. She showed up at the 6th Annual Hollywood Style Awards dressed like THIS. It looks like a pink sateen bedsheet – definitely NOT Frette – twisted around her and barely held together with safety pins. It was a much needed JOKE at this self-important event. Pam was there to pick up the “worst dressed “ award and she played it to the hilt. At least she has a sense of humor about herself.

Hot on the heels of Richard Dawkins’ book defining evolution, designer Alexander McQueen became inspired by the notion of Darwin’s The Origin of the Species, and these shoes and fashions were the result. His collection featured feathers and amphibian scales and prehistoric greenery. (The models even have gills on their temples.) The pinnacle of the collection, however, are the 12 inch high booties that resemble animal hooves. We’d like to see an X-ray of the position of the model’s feet inside. Walking a catwalk can be dangerous.

Men no longer have to be dancers or bike riders to wear tights. Selfridge’s in London is introducing a line of fashion tights specifically for men. They cost around a hundred dollars and are being marketed as ideal for wearing under suits on cold days and for fashion reasons as well. They’re available in white, black, military green, and tribal prints. (We’re thinking Adam Lambert would love the black ones.) Each pair comes with instructions on how to put them on properly. Selfridge’s predicts many of their male customers will have “a secret in their trousers.” Who will be the first celebrity to wear these?

One might think that skin tight leather and sky high stilettos would be rather uncomfortable on a long airplane flight, but that doesn’t apply to Victoria Beckham, pictured above at Heathrow. We’re never surprised by her travel garb since we learned that she always takes a set of sweats and comfy shoes to wear during her flight and changes back into her fancy clothes before she lands. Hence, you never see a wrinkle.

Elisabetta, 30, is an Italian actress/model with a job as a TV host so she’s a bit more experienced. George’s right hand is bandaged from when he slammed it in a car door. So he says.

Judging by appearances, the German band Tokio Hotel will soon be on everybody’s radar – if only for their unique style. The most colorful band members are TWINS (We have a huge weakness for twins!) Bill Kaulitz and Tom Kaulitz. Above we have glam and androgynous Bill, sporting plaid harem pants and behind him is his skater-style twin brother in dreadlocks and baggy pants. Fashionwise, they have little in common. The band is in Paris promoting their new album Humanoid that comes out here on October 6.

When is the last time you saw Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen looking so blonde – or so happy? The twins are in Canada promoting their “Elizabeth & James” fashion line on the Muchmusic TV show. We’re guessing they’re happy because, despite the recession, business is good for them. It’s not often celebrity designers can start off at Wal-Mart and end up at posh stores like Barneys. The Olsens still have their tween line at Wal-Mart, they have their Elizabeth & James line at upscale department stores, and their high end collection “The Row” at exclusive boutiques.

We’ve seen some surprising airport get-ups- celebrities often try to keep their identities under wraps. That’s definitely not Lady Gaga’s motivation. She startled and delighted other passengers at LAX when she showed up wearing a scarf and a latex bra and matching tight skirt. Not surprising, since Lady Gaga says fashion is “everything” to her, and she credits Grace Jones as an inspiration. We wonder how comfortable latex is during a long flight.

Courtney Love is walking around New York looking very skinny, but she happens to be carrying a big box of vitamins. That’s a step in the right direction – but they’re not a substitute for food.
Meanwhile, Courtney’s daughter with Kurt Cobain – Frances Cobain – is seventeen now and she was seen shopping on her own in the village at Zachary’s Smile – a shop that sells vintage clothing from the 1940’s to the 1980’s. She’s definitely developing her own style, but will she ever have a normal life?
