RIP Suzanne Somers. We were shocked like the rest of the world to hear about Suzanne’s passing today. Despite her curated image as a ditzy blonde, Suzanne was anything but, in fact, she was a feminist and trailblazer for equal pay for women. Back in 1980 Suzanne was starring on Three’s Company banking $30,000 an episode while her male costar, John Ritter was pocketing $150,000. Suzanne fought for equal pay but the network REFUSED and she left the hit show. Fast forward a decade – when Suzanne starred on Step By Step – she successfully negotiated equal pay to her male costar, Patrick Duffy. Suzanne also made millions on home shopping – selling everything from her Thighmasters to nutritional supplements and beauty products…

ALYSSA MILANO IS RAISING A LITTLE FEMINIST

Alyssa Milano brought her 8 year old daughter Elizabella to the Hollywood Reporter Women’s Power Lunch in Cannes, to learn about women’s activism. You might remember that Tarana Burke founded #MeToo back in 2006, but the movement didn’t really take OFF until Alyssa posted an important message in 2017. Alyssa tweeted “If you’ve been sexually abused or assaulted, write “me too” as a reply to this tweet.” (She wanted to illustrate the magnitude of the problem) It WORKED – they got 12 million responses in 24 hours! That was around the time that Harvey Weinstein was being investigated, and fortunately, Hollywood has never been the same…

CHRISTINA AGUILERA: TAKE YOUR PICK-PLATINUM BLONDE OR HOT REDHEAD?

Christina Aguilera was a hard-core glamour girl at the party for her new single Pa’Las Muchachas this weekend in LA. She’s got a new song – in Spanish- and a whole new look, with looong fiery red hair. She wore a snakeskin neck-to toe bodysuit under a full-length snakeskin coat. The song title translates to “for My Girls” and it seems to be feminist inspired – Christina was a big supporter of Britney Spears through her troubles. It’s odd that so far, Christina doesn’t have any concert dates to promote her new music. Question is: do you prefer Christina with her platinum blonde hair or the new red tresses?

DOES ANGELINA JOLIE KNOW WHAT A FEMINIST IS?

Angelina Jolie identifies as a feminist, but when she got married to Brad Pitt she didn’t have a bridesmaid because she admitted that she didn’t have a single female friend! This week she wrote an ESSAY for Time magazine, oddly titled “Why Girls Deserve Love and Respect on International Women’s Day.” Apparently she thinks that establishing herself as an attentive mother to her daughters illustrates that she is supportive of other women. We have always wondered WHY Angelina has no female friends – we’re guessing it’s because she never TRIED. Can a woman with no female friends really be trusted?

In her peculiar essay Angelina mentioned that two of her daughters have been hospitalized with health problems – above, she brought pillows for Zahara and Shiloh to sit on when they all went to the movies today

HELLOOOO, SEXIEST MAN ALIVE!

Seeing this photo of John Legend in New York reminded us of about a hundred reasons WHY he is the PERFECT Sexiest Man Alive. There is far MORE to a sexy man than just “abs!” Legend is not only handsome – he always looks so clean! He’s the whole package – smart, educated, talented, and FUN. (Look who he married!) He was a feminist before it became popular – John being the only famous musician who spoke out against R Kelly and supported the women Kelly abused. He adores his wife (out loud) and doesn’t take himself too seriously. A truly modern man.

CHLOE MORETZ SIZED UP KIM KARDASHIAN AND KIM DIDN’T LIKE IT

Another reason to love Chloe Grace Moretz. We didn’t realize that a few years ago, after Kim Kardashian posted yet another nude selfie, Chloe commented on Twitter: “I truly hope you realize how important setting goals are for young women, teaching them we have so much more to offer than just our bodies.” Kim assumed Chloe was just another hater – and dismissed her by tweeting “no one knows who she is.” (We are solidly on feminist Chloe’s team!) Above, Chloe in an 80’s shoulderpad inspired dress, promoting her movie “The Miseducation of Cameron Post.” Chloe plays a teenage lesbian sent away for “gay conversion therapy.”

JAY-Z DOESN’T WANT TO BE MISTAKEN FOR A MISOGYNIST

Since even Russell Simmons (who seems so civilized) has been accused of sexual impropriety, you can bet plenty of men in Hollywood are shaking in fear of their own pasts. Jay Z made a gallant effort to separate himself from “those guys” during his concert Sunday in Cleveland. He noticed an excited looking little girl close to the stage and he told her “You could be President some day!” The crowd cheered and she jumped up and down. Jay Z continued “At this moment, America is more sexist than racist!” instantly endearing himself to the females in the crowd. Jay Z knows he has a good life with his wife Beyonce, (who earned 105 million this year) and doesn’t want ANYTHING to mess it up.

Feminist Lawsuit Taylor Swift

TAYLOR SWIFT DOES THE RIGHT THING- THE COURT ARTIST DOESN’T

This courtroom sketch of Taylor Swift is incredible in its awfulness, but we are SO proud of Taylor for taking the time to follow through on this lawsuit and reveal former radio host David Mueller for the smarmy lout that he is. Obviously he didn’t know WHO he was taking on here! He had the colossal nerve to sue Swift after she told his boss he groped her and the boss decided to fire him. Swift’s testimony in court has been confident, smart, and to the point. Mueller’s own actions caused his termination. His goose is justifiably cooked and we wonder if he still has that girlfriend in the photograph of the incident…

GUESS WHO THIS NO-NONSENSE FEMINIST IS!

She happens to be one of the most beautiful Oscar winners in Hollywood AND she recently moved back to the US from Paris after deciding French people were not so friendly! Right – it’s Black Swan star Natalie Portman– she and her husband just bought a big beautiful 6.5 million dollar house in Santa Barbara. Harvard grad Natalie once observed, “Smart women love smart men more than smart men love smart women!” Hence the tee shirt – which, by the way, is a $710 Dior!

Feminist Hair! Rose McGowan

ROSE MCGOWAN IS PERFECTLY HAPPY WITHOUT HAIR

We though it might be a whim when Grindshouse star Rose McGowan, 42, shaved her head back in November, but she liked the “liberated” feeling so much that she’s kept the look. Rose IS one of our favorite feminists – she was first to call out Fox studios for releasing a poster ad for “X-Men: Apocalypse” picturing Jennifer Lawrence’s character being strangled. Rose pointed out that the studio was using casual violence against women to market a film. And yes, Fox DID pull the poster out of circulation. Meanwhile, Rose’s husband of 3 years, artist Davey Detail, seems to have no complaints about her missing hair.
